I wanted to like The Crew, but I brought it out with three completely different groups of friends and it fell pretty flat with each of them. I was a little surprised since I thought the co-op aspect would appeal to them, but after playing several rounds in one sitting with each group, noone wanted to play it again.

I'm not sure why, but for a light, co-op card game, Hanabi has been much more well-liked by my friends.

You know, I haven't listened to this album straight through in a while, but after listening to the album again, it's better than I remember. The lowest 5 songs in my ranking are pretty generic and kind of forgettable, but I do still enjoy the whole album.

• There is an acoustic version of Looking Back On Today on a Warped Tour Compilation and I might like that version even more than this version.
• There is a different version of I Won't Spend Another Night Alone on their earlier album that is way better. Something about this version feels off...
• Whoever said their acoustic stuff is quite good is definitely on to something - It's not on this album, but San Dimas High School Football Rules is one of their best songs and their acoustic version is even better.

There are all-time classic pop-punk albums but this isn't one of them. Blue Skies, Broken Hearts Next 12 Exits is a much better effort from this band. This was their major label debut and the result is an album that's overall way too polished, safe, and long.

I absolutely love the Ataris - they were one of my favorite bands during the early 2000s. I still enjoy their music, I've seen them live multiple times and even hung out for a while after one of the shows with the lead singer, Kris Roe, talking about his songwriting and life on the road. Unfortunately, outside of a few songs, So Long Astoria is a pretty mediocre pop-punk album.

"Blue Skies, Broken Hearts: Next 12 Exits" and "End Is Forever" are both SIGNIFICANTLY better albums.

It's a great first game for children under the age of 5 to learn basic board game principles such as how to take turns, how to move on a board and how to follow rules. For anyone over the age of 5, it's a terrible experience. -

I wouldn't compare Chutes and Ladders to being the Board Game equivalent of a Visual Novel though. There are plenty of popular board games out there that are all story and theme with very little actual gameplay - like Nemesis or Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective - that could be accurately compared to Visual Novels in Board Game form.

So far I am enjoying this list. For as much as I enjoy anime, I haven't seen a ton of shows - at least not many that I've seen more than an episode or two. This is a nice way for me to get some recommendations and see stuff I definitelt wouldn't like.

My recommendation is Cromartie High School. It's intentionally ridiculous and meant to be an absurd comedy. I have no idea if it will hit your sense of humor, (and some episodes are funnier than others) but overall I find the show hilarious and pretty much all of my friends who have seen it love it. We quote the show all of the time. It's not very long and should be pretty easy to stream.

Azul - great game for casual and non-gamers. One of the better gateway games.

Viticulture - I love it. The cards can be a bit random, but the theme makes it a pretty intuitive worker placement game.

Just One - One of the better party games out there. I was even able to play this one over Zoom with friends that are far away during the pandemic and it was still fun.

I like the style of Ms. Marvel and I want to like Kamala's character, but man - she is incredibly naive and stupid. Was I that naive and stupid at 16? I'm pretty much certain I was, but I feel like the older I get, the less tolerance I have for dumb teenage characters. I've rolled my eyes way too many times at some of the stupid things she has done.

Although, I am curious if anyone else noticed the completely unexpected throwback to Adventures in Babysitting? That was the most amusing scene in Episode 2.

I can't believe they are making not one but TWO Mobile games...

I mean, does anyone actually want Mobile KH games? Based on the premise, the first one actually looked pretty interesting and I found the style kind of cool even though it's different. But Mobile? No thanks.

Over the last 5-10 years, Square has been an infuriating combination of some extremely exciting surprises some extremely disappointing and baffling decisions...

I like how that wikipedia article defines She-Hulk as a "Superhero Legal Comedy". I would like to know what other shows/ movies fall into that genre.

I think it's complete and utter nonsense to delay Advance Wars indefinitely. If a crime simulator like Grand Theft Auto V and a war simulator like Call of Duty can both continue to sell millions of copies across multiple platforms, then it seems like a pointless double standard to not release Advance Wars.

it's surreal to watch a war unfold in real time. With the rise of social media, no other major conflict has unfolded so visibly.

Typically, with other recent smaller scale genocides (like Ethiopia, Myanmar and western China) the first thing the government does is shut off the local cellular service so images, videos and reports from the ground don't make it out to the rest of the world as easily. It makes it easier for them to control the narrative.

It's also a little crazy that with how quickly this is happening and how little resistance Ukraine has, Russia may gain control of the country within a couple of days - or less

Its not really that exactly, in his speech a few days ago Putin criticised Lenin for allowing Ukraine to form as a Soviet Republic at all, and he stated that he views the destruction of Ukraine as the only way to complete decommunisation. He doesnt want to go back to the Soviet days, he wants to go back to the Russian Empire.

This is the thing though, the people saying that it was a fake revolution or acting like Russias still communist are wrong. It is a very different Russia. Just not, as it happens, a better Russia. The tankies stanning for Putin are absolutely ludicrous, its a hard right very anti-communist dictatorship that is an ultra-capitalist corporate dystopia invading a democracy. If you want to talk about fascists, look no further than elements of the Russian government. No self-respecting left-winger or communist should be siding with a state like that. It is, fortunately, a small minority.

So yeah this is awful, everybody supporting it is awful, and hopefully all nations western or otherwise will join in a strong response.

The reality is that no other countries will do anything, just like they didn't do anything when Russia invaded Ukraine in 2014 and took Crimea. That was basically a practice run for this full scale invasion. The other world leaders will issue strongly worded statements, shake their fists, and impose economic sanctions, but Russia controls so much of the energy supply to the rest of Europe that the sanctions will backfire. They are going to end up pushing inflation and energy costs even higher in the west.

So, why is Putin invading Ukraine? Basically, it's because noone is going to stop him and he is simply proving that he can.

Apparently Nicaragua supports Russia and I don't believe they are held up by Russia.

Everdell is a big favorite of my group, even though I'm generally not someone who loves the sort of standard, non-gimmicky worker placement that it utilizes. Something about it just feels very pleasant to play, even beyond the great art. Surprised to see it so low.

Yeah, I agree. Everdell was my favorite new to me game of 2020. It's a solid worker placement game with fantastic components and theme. My only minor complaint is that the random card draw can occasionally work against you, but the game just feels pleasant all around. I'm also surprised to see it this low.

I don't quite get the love for this song. It's only the 4th or 5th best song on the soundtrack.

So I have this game (or perhaps the second one?) and played with my mother once. For background we have escaped medium level escape rooms together just the two of us.

We read every damn entry on one of those cases and had zero idea what the solution was, and it turned out to be some off the wall inference of how an unrelated news story could be related.

I don't think every case is that obscure, but yes - that's a big part of what I didn't like. Some of the leaps in logic to reach the conclusion made absolutely no sense. Supposedly, the more recent cases aren't nearly as bad with the lack of logical conclusions.

Ugh. The scoring in Sherlock Holmes is absolutely worthless. It doesn't help that Sherlock talks down to you about how obvious the incredibly obscure leaps of logic were to him. It's as if the game itself is mocking you for trying to explore it. It can be kind of fun when approached more as a Tabletop RPG. Trying to use the scoring, though, just produces leaves a really bad taste in your mouth and left me not wanting to play again.

I've never even heard of Moon Knight, so I'm going in to the show with zero expectations.
