I don't really understand why they kneel over other things they could do but in any case it's clear the intent is to refuse the proper respectful behavior.

Which, I can understand wanting to protest but the flag represents a whole lot of stuff. I have no problem with them kneeling. Trump shouldn't voice an opinion on it either way. But if the NFL, as a business, decides they don't want them kneeling, that is a business operating for its own self interest and whether that decision makes or loses them money should determine how they move forward.

People shouldn't have a problem with them kneeling because it "disrespects the anthem/troops/flag/country", because that is stupid and taking issue with a peaceful protest. However, people can be rightfully bothered by the protest being hinged on a narrative that is rooted in media sensationalism rather than facts.

I keep seeing this notion "if you don't owe a suit you are horrible" (or something like that) from time to time and I hate it. It judges people way too much . Dwight Hammond Jr. and his son Steven Hammond were granted executive grants of clemency by Trump, according to a White House statement. The father-son duo are cattle ranchers and were convicted in 2012 of committing arson on federal lands in Oregon.
"Justice is overdue for Dwight and Steven Hammond, both of whom are entirely deserving of these Grants of Executive Clemency," the statement read.
The Trump White House took aim at the Obama administration as well, adding that it filed an "overzealous appeal" that led to the two men's five-year prison sentence: "This was unjust."
Dwight Hammond has served approximately three years in prison, and his son Steven has served four years, according to the White House.
The Hammonds said they started a fire on their property in 2001 to protect it from wildfires and reduce the growth of invasive plants, but that the fire got out of hand, CNN affiliate KTVZ reported. Prosecutors said in 2016 they set fires to cover up evidence of poaching.
"The jury convicted both of the Hammonds of using fire to destroy federal property for a 2001 arson known as the Hardie-Hammond fire, located in the Steens Mountain Cooperative Management and Protection Area," Department of Justice said in a statement in January 2016.

Two people involved in a "racist and threatening" Snapchat video have been released from custody, but Huntsville police say criminal charges are still possible.

The men said in the video that they were driving around Huntsville and planning to shoot black people. They were taken into custody in nearby Arab Saturday evening.

"No charges are being filed at this time," said Huntsville police Lt. Michael Johnson. "Neither person was armed or bore a real, viable threat."

Johnson said investigators are consulting with prosecutors and the Federal Bureau of Investigation to determine which, if any, criminal charges are appropriate.

It's unclear when the video was posted to Snapchat by an account under the user name "PAWPAW." It was reposted to Facebook by a concerned citizen, police said.
