I also simply interact with them the way I interact with anyone. I treat them the same as adults. I think that shows them I value them as people and don't look at them as just "kids." Another thing I do is that I show up to all of their events. It doesn't matter the sport or the extracurricular I will be there. And this goes for kids even when their past my grade. I rarely see other teachers at things.
