My first contest was 2003, it made a big impact on me and I was at my most interested post-2003 and before 2004 began. I stayed enjoying them from 04-06 although it had lost a bit of that spark. 07 and the whole L-Block 4-way business was the breaking point for me, when it couldn't be taken seriously as a measure of character strength and all the RNG in 4-way bracket placement deciding things my interest waned a lot. I keep an eye on stuff since but I could honestly not recall a single match post 2007 off the top of my head, I remember almost every part of the bracket from 2003-2006.
I don't think it'd bother me at all never eating fast food again. KFC is my favourite place but man, months go between my visits there. If pizza delivery places count as fast food then I'd be more screwed.

I've barely posted since 2009 and I still recognise almost everybody so the number of new people must be pretty small. A good few have left, most have just eased off the frequency they use here, I don't think it has anything to do with the site more the community just became stale with the same people together for a long time. There comes a point where you just don't want to read the same Ulti, vlado, ertyu, gay rights or atheism topics that have been on repeat for 9 years.
Though its amazing the community has stayed together this long, it was a community created so suddenly purely for events in 2002 and 2003, its amazing that it stuck so strong to survive independent of contests.
1. Harry Potter 2. Naruto 3. Twilight 4. Inuyasha 5. Glee
...Glee?
Really?
The site is predominantly used by females, you'll find ample reasoning why fangirls have such a bad rep on there. Twilight/Glee is something I can tolerate, when they start writing erotic tetris fics, thats when I draw the line.
WARNING: OFFENSIVE TETRIS EROTICISM
What once seemed new and interesting became, as is typical, sterile and tedious. The L-Piece's vibrant life of purple, blue, orange, green dipped into a monotone. L-Piece believed she felt, nay, believed she knew that this experience was unique to her. But she was not the first, not the last. Nonetheless, this dulling of experience was profound to little L-Piece.
More profound, however, was her late-adolescent discovery of her maker. She was but three blocks away from landing.
Throughout her brief and insignificant but subjectively powerful existence, a God-Thing was in total control of her every move. Her every twist, her every turn. He was solely responsible, or so she thought, for all of the ill in her being. This outsider, this manipulator was forcing her all too quickly through her so-called "life" for one moment.
She was two blocks away from landing.
But this was not two blocks away from "landing". She was two blocks away from her destiny. The loss of L-Piece's virginity, as she was soon to find, the only purpose the Programmer gave for her existence. L-Piece was nothing but a sex object.
And not a very good one at that.
The harsh inadequacy of her former life returned unabashedly. "Too little blocks to put here. Damn. One too many to put here. **** L-Pieces, man. I guess I'll just put it here. I hate Tetris." She saw Him now to be a malevolent God-Thing, rife with degrading words too. "It". If this were poorly produced pornography or drunken role-play, L-Piece might have been turned on. Alas, it was not. It was her life.
The loss of her innocence was approaching-one block.
It was coming. It was imminent.
She was afraid.
Gone.
Thus it was gone, as two squares rubbed under her and she straddled what was left of a long piece. A nearly inaudible moan of resolution emitted from the L-Piece's squares. The waves, the waves of primal, pained, forever-anticipated pleasured carved through her virtual being. She was carried out of her shell. Escaped were her adolescent fears and disappointments, if only for moments, in theLandofTetrOrgasms.
Sophie is dead Hubert is given away for adoption Richard had two attempted assassinations on him in the space of like 2 days. Cheria just wanted to be with Asbel and he pisses off out of town at the first chance leaving her forever. Asbels father just wanted his son to stop being such a reckless douche and live the cushy life of becoming a Lord, he gets rewarded by his son running away. Asbel wanted to protect everyone and gets all of the above.
I don't get people who panic in a system after its out for like a year or two. Every system sucks tremendous amounts of ass in its first 2 years. Systems should be given a free pass for like 30 months and then judged on what they have out and to come.
As far as I know they won't repair it, they offer refurbishments for 100 (HD wiped etc), some 3rd party places will re-solder it for a bit less though its never a permanent fix and will probably buy you another year. Hairdryer might buy you another month max, best to buy a new one.
There's no indication that there's not a system-wide achievement system, just that not all games have to have them.
My reading of it was he said achievements would be developer driven (local to games) and not something they'd be supporting or encouraging. Just in general PR terms if they were planning some sort of framework he'd be selling and encouraging it rather than talking about developers who don't like having to use it. It's not literally saying its not happening but its not something he'd mention if it was.
I'd kinda like an achievement system, even something as basic as an acknowledgement you finished a game accessible on your profile. It sounds like they're making strides towards a competent friend system but are still making concessions, annoying but not a big deal. The storage thing, again not a big deal but just pretty inconvenient.
Essentially all these things are just going to be barriers for developers, if you make connecting and storing possible but inconvenient its not a ringing endorsement for someone making a downloadable game or an MMO.
Good first game, thought it'd be dull but had a lot going on. Could have swung either way. The offside ruling and first half red card probably saved Poland who were in capitulation mode in the second half.
FIFA officiating at its usual standard. Liam Brady called it before the game that there'd be a suspect decision to benefit the hosts because FIFA likes the host to progress.
It amazes me the hysteria around newly released consoles time after time because they aren't shattering records while finding their feet. 3DS, PS3 and PS2 are just some that had really bad launches and a slow first 2 years, I wouldn't panic.
