Cheria just wanted to be with Asbel and he pisses off out of town at the first chance leaving her forever.
Asbels father just wanted his son to stop being such a reckless douche and live the cushy life of becoming a Lord, he gets rewarded by his son running away.
Asbel wanted to protect everyone and gets all of the above.

more like tales of unnecessarily bad childhoods.

but in all of them it is later revealed that they had amnesia and in fact, were set on their current path by their home burning and friends dying
