Perhaps if he took the time to manually configure a firewall he could be better protected.

So did the cameras connect to his computer first, or did they just connect directly to external servers? Or were they just completely unsecured and open to anyone over the internet that happened to know their IP?

Now I just want to know more.

SV is written with C# and Mono. As it turns out, I'm also using c# and Mono. How a new guy will attempt to do multiplayer is spaghettification, just "make it work".

Working with spaghettified code is like wiring your house with extension cords all over the place. Sometimes you just have to throw it all away and redo it. If you don't know how to format your code properly, your development will grind to a halt as you make it far too complicated to keep track of.

It's likely that that multiplayer build "just worked", but wasn't good to build anything off of. Mono does attract a lot of new guys who don't want to screw with OpenGL and just want to draw a sprite to a screen ASAP.

The fact that coop was being worked on so early and boasted so much makes me imagine nearly all of that coop code was scrapped.

It's too easy to underestimate the amount of work you'll have to do for a single feature, indie developers especially.

If you don't design your entire game around multiplayer from the start, you actually have to redo a third of the entire code.

It wasn't like he was lazy one afternoon and decided not to add multiplayer in an hour or two.

By definition, a machine can only do what it is programmed to do. It cannot "learn and grow" beyond the capacities of what we want it to do or what it is made to do.

People constantly make human brains when they reproduce, I don't think the "you can't stuff a box in a smaller box" argument works here. It's not an entropy based rule. Neural networks are exactly the type of machine you say isn't possible, they become more complex than any human could understand. You should see the things they can do. As a matter of fact, I'd say the programs people have made resemble parts of a brain wired to a computer.

A machine made manually would, like you said, be near impossible. Neural networks do the heavy lifting for us, what's left for us to do is understand how the pieces fit together, and what they should do.

What we need is a very smart psychologist to get together with a very talented programmer.

From what I've seen, an ai done right would have no desire for power, and therefore be no threat. Power is a human desire hard wired to our brains, it's not a fundamental part of intelligence. Likewise, paranoia is also hard wired, people expect the worst out of instinct.

AI will never become smart enough to threaten us. In order for that to happen, we first have to build an AI capable of doing so -- and we are not smart enough to do that.

You just have to set up the framework and let machine learning do the rest. You basically have to define it's goals, its goal being a hardwired inclination to fit in with humanity.

Take engaging with a person with eye contact. You hard wire a natural ability to calculate what a pair of eyes are looking at and give it the red flag that they're looking at you, then they sort out what that means by observing social interaction.

I've seen most attempts at ai and I can say I've yet to see all of our technology put together. Neural networks are a new technology.

Ai is already happening.

I think it will have to be refined a little bit. All the pieces of a self aware ai are there, it just has to be put together by someone who roughly understands how a human brain works.

Centuries ago, in ancient Rome, there was a wise, old shepherd who was wandering around in the farmlands searching for silver. That's when he came upon an ugly, old seer."Can you tell me where to find silver?" he asked the seer. The seer did not have to think for even a second. "What you are looking for cannot be in the farmlands. Search within you" said the seer. The shepherd was puzzled by the seer's answer. Then he offered her his virginity as a reward. Ten years later while he was whipping a bull, the shepherd finally understood what the seer had meant: every human being is on the side of good if only we believe in ourselves. And that's how he realized that silver had been inside him all along.

The outcomes alternate.

Heads - The Joker is spared in the hospital.
Tails - Wuertz is killed in the bar.
Heads - Sal Maroni is spared.
Tails - Maroni's driver is killed.
Heads - Ramirez is spared after Two-Face forces her to kill Gordon's family.
Tails - Batman is shot.
Heads - Two-Face doesn't kill himself.

The last scene it lands on heads. Compare this scene at 3:44

On the light side of the coin: The whole coin is a light color.
On the dark side of the coin: Even though the coin is dark, the rim of the coin is much lighter.

With this at 1:55

The side shown is all the same color, if only a slight bit lighter on the rims.

Harvey was supposed to kill Gordan's son, the theme is that Batman changed the pattern and proved Dent wrong.
