That's right. The main event of the final ever Ruin is the EXPLOSION of Whiskey on the Rocks! This is the final stop on my tour of reminiscence which has included matches with eddv, Steiner, Ayvuir and Raven. But my tour ends with the defeat of DP at Mania X.

Yes, my first ever Ruin main event was an EXPLOSION of the Haguile Third Rail Foundation. It featured me on Hag/GTM's side and KamikazePotato on the eddv/KCF side, but as you can see I'm busy. So here we go. The Foundatoin Third Haguile Rail EXPLODES.

2012: Bound For Whiskey Series: TheKnightOfNee vs. Sir Cobain
Two competitors in the LW Title Battle Royal at Mania FACE OFF. These two were huge threats in the 2012 BFW series and main-evented Ruin during one October show!

2013: The Rise of Apollo - B8UCA Tag-Team Champion Strife2 is the special enforcer: B8UCA Tag-Team Champion Apollo_Phoenix vs. B8UCA Undisputed Heavyweight Champion Tom Bombadil
Apollo mentioned this at UCA10 - long before he actually WON the title, he earned a shot at then-and-now-champion, Tom. Now, it serves as a warm-up for The Kingdom as they head into Mania to defend their respective titles. I've added an extra element to the mix - Strife's vote counts double.

2014 - Mania before Mania: Korayashi vs. Maniac64
Real respects real. Kora and Maniac had a historic 5 STAGES OF INSANITY match at Epopmania 6, and on the Ruin before Mania - so nearly four years to the day - they faced off in singles competition where the winner got to pick the 5th stip. Now, they go into Epopmania X hoping to win back titles they believe they define. In Kora's case, he will go after his precious Master of Taybles title against Zazi. Maniac will go after Solio for his precious MELEE MAYHEM title.

2015 - An Undisputed Title Match: ZeroSignal620 vs. TheSultanOfSlam
Raven and Sultan had a huge Undisputed Title match on one of the final Ruins of the year. Now they face off again with different aspirations - the MW title, and superiority within the trifecta, respectively.

2016 - The MIX: DpOblivion vs. eaedwards
Once upon a time, I MIXED the card a lot. This was the result: DP and eaed. Who gets that precious MANIA MOMENTUM tonight?

The Present: david and Emerald: EmeraldEgg and LusterSoldier vs. UCA_Hype_Guy and davidponte
Let's stop reminiscing and bring this back to the present. Emerald and david will face each other at Mania and in a vicious deathmatch, so will Luster and Hype Guy. The twist? Luster and Hype Guy cannot be the legal man at the same time here!

Metal Gear 1 and 2, completely remastered though. I think since they're supposed to take place in an actual nation there's scope to reimagine them as more open-world games like MGSV with certain sections blocked off.

Spyro trilogy is a big one. I'd also like to see RBY done again, because I fucking love RBY and even FRLG is looking dated now. Tomb Raider 2, also.

Rayman 1 with Origins/Legends gameplay, though I really just want more full-release Rayman games.

If you want that guy KO'd and you miss his head you need to fire again. If you want to get him before he moves you need to fire again. That's a problem with it

Like I said this is a very specific argument we're having. You seem to think it breaks the game, I just think it puts it a bit on the easy side without breaking it completely. But can you at least see the difference between the use of the tranq gun in TTS and in the other games? Like fine if you think the M9 is a broken weapon from 2 onwards would you at least accept that TTS is more broken?

I'd say the answer lies in your personal morals/ethics/feelings/whatever. To me, they were a series of dickish, insensitive posts that put me off him as a person because it wasn't the time or place for them. But I also remember some people finding them darkly funny and lightening the mood. Some others might like his honesty. Others might have no opinion on them. Others might find them a little insensitive but not to the same degree I did. That's fine; on that particular issue me and those people perceive things differently. Doesn't make me "better", I'm not trying to come off as high and mighty here. But I also don't think it means I focus too much on negative stuff, just that certain stuff crosses the line for me and certain stuff doesn't.

We're not just talking "negative things", he was a serious prick. And has been on more than one occasion. And the fact that it was more than once indicates that it's just his personality to be that way, not just one moment of misjudgement but how he is on the whole. That doesn't make him the worst person ever. The ace of games stuff, and some of his posts, are good. But my scales tip closer to dislike than like because he showed a very ugly side to his personality.

Question: if you are now disgusted by Kevin Spacey are you "focussing too much on the negative"? He's been an extremely talented, funny, charming, multi-award winning actor way more times than he's been a creepy, sexually abusive monster.

(No, I'm not directly comparing Shine and Spacey, so don't play that bullshit card - I'm comparing my perception of Shine with the public perception of Spacey. Not the same thing)

Not true

3 has the suppressor wear down and the environments have obstacles that make finding a firing lane occasionally difficult. The areas are also pretty multilevelled at times, and require a perfect headshot for instant tranq. Plus it fires slowly and range is mediocre. 4 and V take advantage of the outdoor settings and the range of the gun to make it more difficult. Also, this doesn't apply to Act 4 and 5 of MGS4 at all, or half of act 3.

I mean I'm not saying it's super difficult to use, it can break the game a little, but I still struggled with 2 and 3 on my first playthrough even with this "broken" weapon. There are some mitigating design factors in 2-V that stop it being too broken.

1 was not designed with that in mind and they didn't make changes to mitigate. You can stand in the corner of the hangar and tranq everyone for instance.

But they're not cutscenes. They let you move, but limit you. So it's like...full control is held just out of reach, but is kind of there? And at least with cutscenes there's a clear ending and usually a break between it ending and you playing again.

I think with Horizon, there's like 5 or more datapoints in a room on one of the main missions. It'd be nice if you could just sort of queue them up to play one after the other. What happens is I start one, move to the next one, wait for the first one to finish for whatever length of time, then play the second one. Or if there was a puzzle to progress out of that room. Later there's a room that has a puzzle to progress but no datapoints at all.

You can play them later from the pause menu but that's even worse - you're just staring at the subtitles.

I don't think I've actually been part of one.

I mostly discuss games here or on discord or what have you. I've done to game-specific places a bit, but not really for any length of time.

Obviously you hear things about this fandom or that fandom, but I never really included myself in any of them. I do count myself as a pretty big fan of, say, Sonic, but I wouldn't say I'm part of that "fandom". I'm just a fan.

Based almost purely on what I've heard I guess it'd be Sonic, but there's a disconnect there for me.

I don't know how to properly name it but you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.

That thing where a character is talking but you're still in control. A conversation is happening while you walk around and stuff. Leading to your guy saying something while you jump up and down on the spot, walk up and down the stairs, etc.

I feel like games have done this more and more over the last decade or so and they actually kind of annoy me a little bit sometimes. For instance, I'm playing Horizon which is ewihfewhfwehfiewhwqoqqewqj so good but if I had a complaint it's that I think so much of the material in the main missions is presented to you through these audio datapoints that you kind of just need to stand around and listen to. I get impatient with them and want to move on and there's just always one more. And the story is so good that I want to listen to them all, but I also don't a bit because it's going to be more standing around and if I use the time to craft stuff it starts the line over again. I always used to get irritated when the first Assassin's Creed did this too, you'd get bored and antsy and want to walk around while Al-Mualim was talking to you

I mean obviously the answer is "a balance", and this could just be me and my weird impatience. But when one of those happens I have an expectation for them to be over fast, because otherwise it'd just be a cutscene. So when they start to drag on a bit I get antsy and I'd just prefer the cutscene so I know what I'm getting and can put the controller down.

People criticise MGS2's presentation of story with the endless cutscenes and codec for instance but I think part of me prefers that because at least I...know what I'm getting? I dunno.
