No, Angle retaining over Roode wasn't logical, especially not the 'have Storm squash Angle' that followed. It turned out great despite TNA's best efforts not to.

AJ wants to be what Punk/Bryan love most.
Right now they covet the WWE Title most.
So to be what they covet most, AJ must become one with the WWE Title.
It's completely logical.

Ultimate X HAS to be the second-to-last match

How do you most effectively place the other 6 matches in between?

Gut instinct says that in the interest of fairness the four Ultimate X qualifiers should be matches 2-5, but then you just ran 5 X-Division matches in a row.

And then what comes before Ultimate X? Again, gut instinct says Daniels vs. Styles since that's a "bigger" match than Joe vs. Angle, but it'll be a very emotional match. You don't want to drain the crowd right before making a new star.

It's a tough task to maximize the crowd response on this one!

If they grabbed all the bigger names/more popular guys, each would be less important as a result. If you grab only a select few (and then have guys like Darsow as tryout job guys), it makes getting Kenny King and Jigsaw huge news.

Just for edwards I hope this Big Show/Cena feud continues to Wrestlemania (with Cena beating Show at every PPV), where John Cena FINALLY overcomes the odds and defeats the Big Show with the STF despite it being physically impossible for him to do so.

Yeah, Vince tends to give guys who stand up to him more leeway/independence (See: Jericho), so it's certainly reasonable that Punk got significant influence on that promo.
