What's the point in just repeating the same thing over and over?

Why be mad at new teen titans for being NEW teen titans and not just rehashing the same old?

Don't you get that a whole NEW audience is going to see this?

Don't you know that the Ghostbusters movie in the 80s was taking an old idea in a new direction?

A Brazilian man is being hailed as a hero after he saved a dog that had fallen from a ninth-story balcony.

Joao Augusto was in the right place at the right time when he was walking through Ribeirao Preto, Sao Paolo earlier this month.

He heard a bark coming from an apartment almost 100 feet above him. When he looked up, he saw that there was a Shih Tzu that was in danger of falling off the balcony.

The complexs caretaker, Paulo Narciso, had reportedly opened the door of the building when Augusto ran up and asked for help.

As the caretaker ran up to see if the dogs owner was home, Augusto went back outside to keep an eye on the Shih Tzu and then it fell.

Nearby CCTV footage shows Augusto positioned under the dog with arms outstretched. When it falls, it slips through Augustos arms and knocks him to the ground. Then, it runs away unharmed.

I knew that I wouldnt be able to catch her but I was aware that I could cushion the fall, I was on the floor for a few seconds, but it was from relief.

Despite the dicey nature of the impromptu rescue mission, both Augusto and the Shih Tzu named Mel were confirmed to be okay after the incident. According to reporters, the dogs owner requested to remain anonymous, but she says that she has since installed protective netting over the balcony so Mel wont repeat her experience.

A Florida man posed as a housewife to trick unsuspecting straight men into letting him perform sex acts on them while he secretly videotaped the encounters to later post online, federal officials said Tuesday.

Bryan Deneumostier, 33, of Homestead, was charged with two counts of illegal interception of oral communication and three counts of record-keeping violations in connection with the website "**********, the Miami Herald reported, citing a law enforcement document.

Deneumostier allegedly ran the website, which featured straight men being tricked into accepting sex acts from gay men, according to the newspaper. The straight men were blindfolded and wore blacked-out goggles and appeared to believe they were with a woman.

Deneumostier is accused of posing as a real, heterosexual female in Craigslist ads to try to lure the men into a home near the Homestead Reserve Air Base, U.S. Homeland Security investigators said.

When the men ask for assurances that there are no cameras, he assured them that shes married to someone in the army and she would never photograph or video them, the Herald reported, citing the law enforcement document. In actuality, however, Deneumostier is video and audio taping the entire sexual encounter.

The man is believed to have run the ********* website for four years. The website had more than 600 videos before it was taken offline. Its unclear how many victims there were.

Deneumostier was charged with unlawful sex with a minor earlier this month. Police said officers found Deneumostier with an underage boy, who had been reported missing, at a Homestead hotel. Deneumostier reportedly admitted to drugging and having sex with the teen.

The number of recorded crimes in Japan continued to decrease in the first half of 2018 to a level not seen in the postwar period, mainly due to falling theft rates, preliminary police data showed Thursday.

The total stood at 398,615 crimes, down 52,054 from the same period a year earlier, according to the National Police Agency. The pace of decline was faster than when the figure in 2017 hit the lowest level since the end of World War II on a full-year basis.

Thefts accounted for more than 70 percent of all registered crimes but were on the decline, apparently thanks to the proliferation of security cameras.

However, the number of reported sexual crimes rose in the first six months. The increase comes after the penal code was revised last July to eliminate a requirement that a victim must file a complaint before rape or sexual molestation can be prosecuted.

The revision also broadened the definition of rape to include male victims.

The data showed that the police had to deal with many crimes targeting children and fraud cases involving increasingly sophisticated methods.

Police in Chigasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, said Thursday they have arrested an unemployed 52-year-old man on a charge of forcible obstruction of business after he left several bottles filled with urine at a koban (police box) in March and April.

According to police, Shujiro Oze took bottles filled with urine, an empty instant noodles container and chopsticks to the police box at Chigasaki Stations South Entrance. Sankei Shimbun reported that Oze did this whenever an officer would leave the police box unattended. On one occasion, he left eight bottles filled with 500 mm of urine.

After examining street surveillance footage and conducting a DNA test on the urine, police were able to identify Oze as a possible suspect in the case.

Police said Oze has admitted to the charge and quoted him as saying, When I asked police to warn people who smoke while walking, they ignored my request. That made me mad.

In May, a 7-year-old girl in the city of Niigata, central Japan, was abducted on her way home from school before being killed and abandoned on a railway track.

The murder has led to a nationwide check of routes taken by elementary school pupils.

In the half-year period, the police took enforcement actions in 152,799 cases against 100,579 people, down 8,379 and 5,115 from a year earlier, respectively. The number of people included 11,689 juveniles.

Excluding serial thefts and other crimes perpetrated by the same culprit, the police took enforcement actions in 99,763 cases, of which 17,289 resulted from voluntary police questioning and 8,746 from footage recorded by security cameras and other devices.

A doctors hunch has eliminated all signs of advanced skin cancer from a patient who had no other options of treatment.

Two years ago, a 97-year-old woman whose right leg was covered with squamous cell tumors went to see dermatologist Anna Nichols, at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Surgery is the standard of care for most patients with skin cancer, but the womans tumors were so numerous, it was impossible to operate.

She was not a candidate for surgery because of the sheer number and size of her tumors. She wasnt a candidate for radiotherapy, again for the same reasons, said Dr. Nichols, an assistant professor at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, whose report on this case was published online in JAMA Dermatology.

Luckily, Nichols has had experience with this kind of cancer before.

Squamous cell carcinoma is the second-most-common form of skin cancer. Evidence suggests the human papilloma virus (HPV) plays a role in the development of some types of this skin cancer.

Though there is very little research that suggests an HPV vaccine could combat existing skin tumors, a case report by Dr. Nichols in 2017 showed the HPV vaccine Gardasil reduced the number of new basal and squamous cell skin cancers in two patients so Tim Ioannides, a voluntary faculty member at UM, suggested using the vaccine as an off-label treatment by directly injecting it into the tumors.

Since her patient had no other options, Dr. Nichols offered her the treatment. It is considered an off-label use because Gardasil is only approved for the prevention of cervical, anal, and genital cancers caused by the human papilloma virus.

I think we had a really reasonable expectation and good data that this was actually going to, at the very least, do no harm to this patient, and possibly provide some benefit, said Dr. Ioannides. To have this type of result in such an advanced patient I think was beyond all our expectations.

The patient was first given two doses of the 9-valent HPV vaccine in her arm, six weeks apart. A few weeks later, Dr. Nichols directly injected several, but not all, of the patients tumors. The injections were given four times over 11 months.

All of her tumors completely resolved 11 months after the first direct tumor injection, and she has had no recurrence, Dr. Nichols said. It has been about 24 months now since we started with the treatment.

They decided to try it and it worked. It killed them all off, said the patient, who is now looking forward to celebrating her 100th birthday this fall.

Nichols hopes that the patients success story will prompt further research into using the vaccine as a treatment for skin cancer patients.

Is this one of those things where they count people who play Candy Crush as "gamers"

who cares? its really unimportant. The definition of "gamer" has been changing for a while to accomodate the new forms of games that have been coming out.

It's not a bad thing. There's no benefit in exclusion or elitism. Maybe gamers can even get more respect and less stigma in society as people get to understand the culture more. and that's a great thing.

It actually is very important to the question at hand. Why should console games, which are likely male dominant, have 50% female protagonists, if that's not who the consumers are?

If the consumers of story-driven console games are men who want to play games as men, then why should they not get what they are spending their money for in order to satisfy a political preference?

holy fucking shit, it is a good thing you do not handle any if the creative process in the industry :v

And yet the industry seems to agree with me, and therefore doesn't have a 1:1 ratio of protagonists.

You switched horses.

"Companies shouldn't have to make game that don't play as men." and "The ratio isn't 1:1" are different statements.

I think pretty much any video game company on Earth (except maybe a few Japanese ones) would disagree with your first point.

That's where you get it wrong, they can't make money off the Abridged series. It uses too much of the source material and it's hard enough stopping the owners of the IP from copyright striking them. I don't think DBZA has ever been monetized at any point in its run.

DBZA is actually safe because they made a deal with Funimation, they don't monetize off from the series (ie Ad revenue) but they can sell merchandise from DBZA (which I think is what makes the series afloat for now).

They have a pateron and DBZA has been taken down like 12 times.

I remember Robot Wars.

I liked it at first when it was legitimately fun and full of interesting robots. There were obstacle courses and games instead of JUST fights, which lead to a vareity of gimmicks and different robots.

However the guys who made the show discovered that fans liked the fights most and they were the cheapest and easiest to film. So it became ALL fights.

I remember one episode where they had a tiny little robot with a Spike on the end that was shit but super fast and moble. I think it's top speed was 115 MPH.

It sucked at fights and tug of war and stuff but was great at the other games and it made the show exciting. Imagining that robot in a fight is laughable.

But then some of the robots designs were just too good and always won. So then all the robots became the same. Just very minor varations on the same 4 designs that always won.

And then because of that they went crazy with the gimmicks and all the house robots just started acting stupid to try to make the boredom entertaining and they added a Ref Bot and all sorts of shit.

Then they started doing fake pre fight interviews where the guys who designed the robots now had gimmicks and intro videos and cut pro-wrestling interviews... It was just dumb.

Feels like one of those shows that just went on too long. It's like every episode was Superman IV.

Explorers have found the wreck of a Russian Imperial Navy ship that was sunk 113 years ago and may contain $130 billion in gold bars and coins, according to news reports.

In a statement, salvage company Shinil Group confirmed that the stern of the vessel, the Dmitry Donskoi, had been discovered off South Koreas Ulleungdo Island. It was badly damaged following an attack by Japanese warships during the Russo-Japanese War and was scuttled in the Sea of Japan on May 29, 1905.

The Korea Times reports that the South Korean salvage firm, which has been searching for the wreck for years, used two manned submarines to spot the ship on Saturday.

The Dmitry Donskoi, a 5,800-ton ironclad cruiser, was in a fleet of 38 Russian Imperial Navy ships deployed from the Baltic to the Pacific. Citing historical accounts, The Express reports that the Dmitry Donskoi may be treasure-laden. In addition to carrying port expenses and salaries for the fleets sailors and officers, she may have held gold reserves of other Russian ships damaged in the Battle of Tsushima in May 1905.

Rumors of a gold hoard on the ship have swirled for decades, although the possibility of a sunken treasure has also been viewed with skepticism. According to The New York Times, one historian told Bloomberg in 2000 that it would have been safer to send the gold to the Russian Pacific port of Vladivostok by rail, as opposed to using a ship.

In its statement, Shinil Group said that it had found a large amount of iron boxes in the ships stern, and will take measures to preserve them. The boxes contents have not been revealed.
In addition to the stern, 203 mm cannons, 152 mm long-distance guns, a number of machine guns, anchors, two stacks, three masts, wooden decks and armor are also visible on the wreck.

One-third of the stern is bombarded and the hull is severely damaged, Shinil Group explained in a statement. However, the upper deck of the wooden hull is almost untouched. The armor on the side of the hull is also well preserved, while the anchors, guns and machine guns remain in place.

All three of the ships masts and its two chimneys are broken.

Experts from the U.K. and Canadian marine exploration company Nuytco are also part of the international team working on the Dmitry Donskoi project.

Other wartime wrecks have also become a source of fascination for treasure hunters. The S.S. Minden, a German cargo ship scuttled in waters near Iceland during the early days of World War II, for example, is rumored to contain a huge trove of Nazi gold.

let's be real here, how can anybody continue to deny that humans are stupid and weird? how the hell did the human race make it this far i dont know.

Said unironically over the incredible invention of the internet to share the incredible invention of video that recorded this (image and sound) and then shared it literally worldwide for free.

As stupid as the content is the sheer existence of it and the ability to demonstrate it to carfaced shoes like you does nothing but demonstrate how brilliant, capable and intelligent human beings are.

We live in a world where 150 years ago, this would be considered impossible. Now we actively take it for granted and watch people 2,000 miles away entertain us on devices in the palm of our hand while we shit in flushable toilets.

You see at this point you are just making things up based on your feelings. Women are not doing everything that isnt sports just as competently as men. Look at the number of female chess grandmasters,

Chess is a sport

look at the amount of women who have revolutionized technology, why hasn't there been a woman to create an iPhone, or a Google, or a Facebook, or a tesla, or an Amazon.com?

You're switching horses, you're changing your argument from "Women aren't capable unlike superior men" to "Men are in charge of and invent more things."

And yeah the patriachy explains that. If you want to dispute it, you need to dispute it. Not go "No its wrong because I say so."

The reason men create literally everything that humanity has created and continue to do so to this day even when women have all the opportunities men have is because women do not go where humanity hasn't gone before.

WTF

You acknowledge that women only just now have equal opportunities (Which still a highly debatable statemtn) and yet still argue that history is male dominated because men are more capable?

Even your own argument disproves your orignal point.

And still, that's a poor argument. You're going "Men were in power for 40,000 years and positioned a society with men in high places, women have had some oppotunity for about 100 years, and maybe equality for about 30/40. How come they are not produing equal breakthroughs now!?" and then pretending the question doesn't answer itself.

And speaking of questions, you dodged mine as I predicted you would.

What do you think would happened if 1-3,000 years ago a woman proposed an architectural plan for a building? And while you refuse to answer that, think about how she would have learned how to build such a plan in the first place.

"A chick didn't invent Amazon.com!" is not an answer to that.

When I was a kid the boys were digging holes in the backyard and adventuring into the woods behind the abandoned house. The girls were playing with dolls. People love to perpetuate the myth that society made boys that way and girls that way but the science is in.

Dolls have only been around as toys for a few hundred years and only mass produced as every day items for 100. A lot of nations and socities don't even use them.

How is that science?

You put a newborn baby in a room with a doll and a truck boys go play with the truck girls play with the doll.

Da fuck

A newborn baby wouldn't even play with it's own fingers....

A terminally ill dog is living out his final days snacking on his favorite food thanks to a Burger King in Ohio.

Ten-year-old Cody, a boxer-lab mix, was diagnosed with cancer about two months ago, so his family has been doing everything they can to keep him happy and comfortable, including buying him cheeseburgers every day from the fast-food chain.

His owner, Alex Karcher, shared on social media that Cody was given only one to three months to live after his devastating diagnosis.

"My family and I were heartbroken over the news, but we decided we wanted to try and make the last part of his life the best we could. Every day since we found out, we've gotten him a plain cheeseburger to eat with his many medications to make it easier and more enjoyable for him," he wrote on Twitter.

Karcher explained that when he stopped into the Toledo Burger King on Sunday to buy Codys usual, the employee inquired about the order. After telling her about the dog, the woman went to speak with her manager. When she came back, she told Karcher that Cody could eat for free at their location.

"I can't explain how much that means to us, and my family and I are beyond appreciative," Karcher wrote. He also called the fast-food employees the best around.

Thanks to @BurgerKing for showing so much love and kindness towards my family and our dog, Cody. Its appreciated more than words can describe, he added.

Others on social media have been sending Karcher and Cody an outpouring of love and well-wishes and praising the fast-food chain for the kind gesture.

Wow, I wish Cody the best. This jerked a tear from me, I'll admit it. I know the love an animal can give you, and its amazing seeing how a dog can spread love to an employee at Burger King who just heard a story about him. What a heartfelt company, I hope Cody can stick through, one person wrote.

That was humanity working at its best. Thank you for what you did for this dog. God Bless you Always, someone commented.

Why is Burger King making me cry at 7:30 on a Monday morning... another person wrote.

Big love to both of you, I hope Cody enjoys the food and has some amazing times. I'm so sorry. Love and hugs to Cody, someone else commented.

Burger King didnt immediately respond to Fox news request for comment, but the company did respond to Karchers tweet.

The world needs more kindness and empathy. Thank you for giving us the chance to do this for Cody, the company wrote.

Remins me of how some doctors now encourage a lot of terminally ill eldery people to take up smoking.

Because if you don't have long to live, the very short term health benefits are great and the long term ones don't matter because you're gonna die before you get yellow teeth and cancer.

The problem is that you pre suppose that male dominance arose from something other than competence.

Society became male dominated in large part because men proved themselves more CAPABLE.

No because they were physically stronger.

I mean physically capable sure.

But going "The only reason men dominated arts, politics, design, engineering, farming etc for 40,000 is because they are so great. Not because women were ignored, enducated, enslaved or at best not taken seriously." is crazy.

At the time of some of the greatest discovries and inventions in history were taking place, women were still being considered property.

We see that in today's society alone, where things are still not equal and yet pick any field in any first world nation that isn't determined by physical strength (IE sport, bouncing etc) and you'll see women doing it just as competently as men.

It would be pretty much unheard of now to walk into an American office and not see a woman somewhere.

You think something dramatically changed in the past 100 years other than women finally got a chance to do shit? If so, what do you think suddenly happened to catapult the ability of women?

That's a weird claim, especially to just handwave the patriachy. Even hardcore MRAs wouldn't make such a claim.

What do you think would happened if 1-3,000 years ago a woman proposed an architectural plan for a building? And while you refuse to answer that, think about how she would have learned how to build such a plan in the first place.
