So let me ask a question: why isn't the job creator's work considered labor? I've seen this argument appear in one form or another, that the people at the very bottom "labor" and the people at the top "take from labor" but a lot of people at the top work very hard, too. Why aren't their efforts counted as labor and thus wage increases for CEOs seen as competition for labor?

For smaller companies that's exactly what it is.

When you start getting into Fortune 1000 type stuff, CEOs work generally stops becoming work. It becomes "I'm going to play golf with some CEOs from other businesses for all day." and then you look and see "Wow the CEO of our company works 16 hours a day!"

In fairness, at least the "customers who bought this also bought" suggestions when you add something to your cart are pretty legit.

I did have to look at a bunch of different ones because it was difficult to find something that was explicitly compatible with my existing opener and I did not want to buy the original remote again because the button is soft and it's causing problems with the heat in the car + rain where it starts falling apart. So I got one with a hard plastic button.

The point of the game is to explore a randomly generated world, find cool shit, and kill huge bosses using some combination of gear plus well-constructed arenas to help fight.

reddit has some of the largest internet traffic in the world and probably is up for 99.9% of time without a hitch.

Instead of celebrating the incredible task that is to maintain, the focus is instead immediate scorn at the first sign of inconvenience.

I have to deal with this at work as well. We've spent -millions- on failover clustering, separate data centers for DR, primary / secondary / read-only Database nodes, 99.9% of API calls we handle are dealt with in less than 200 milliseconds.

We go down for 5 and all our customers immediately start complaining.

They complain even when our UAT environment goes down.

It gets really tiring. Fuck the internet and its 24/7 availability expectations.
