Come on, dude, youre in law school. Youre held to a higher standard. Did you even read the Tweet?

Hes not saying he should be prosecuted for being an asshole. He is talking about prosecuting him for child molestation if true.

Yeah, its a idiotic assumption on Cruzs part. Theyre jokes and I doubt anyone believes theyre ground in reality. But if youre going to attack him at least attack what is actually going on.

I confess I'm hungover, so my literacy is all over the place at the moment.

Though I am surprised someone actually paid attention to my posts to remember that.

It was in the post you quoted. Notice that "so long as the themes of the piece remain intact?"

That was the qualifier. You quoted it and deliberately chose to ignore it in favor of your "Christians are so oppressed D=" schtick.

I don't really care about "muh oppression" arguments.

The text is unimportant so long as the themes of the piece remain intact. That parts of the text are integral to the theme is immaterial when the issue is changing text that does not impact the theme.

How is it a "casting consideration"?

The priest is literally a male and referred to by the customary title of "Father"?

The showrunners had to consciously alter the text, changing the title to Mother, in complete disregard of anything Shakespeare would have ever contemplated, and in complete infidelity to both the text and its historical context.

And...? I fail to see how that's of any consequence. The showrunners can do what they will since it's their production. I would also think that the themes in a play are of greater importance than adherence to details that do nothing for said themes.

No one is disputing that the showrunners can run a shitty show if they so desire.

The point is that liberals assume that by being "inclusive" they are making room for everyone. However, this belief will always be insincere. They are merely making room for the right kind of people.

They make this clear time and again when they constantly denigrate orthodox Christians and their cultural heritage, which they do so many ways. Calls for inclusion are thus just a convenient cover for their divisive practices.

Or, maybe the gal was better than the guys who auditioned.

That's, of course, under the very questionable assumption that there is any merit to feeling so tragically marginalized in the first place.

that's why the FBI got so butthurt with Apple. it's probably the only time you'll see me rooting for Cupertino

That's where I get into a grey area. I think there's a distinction (Fifth Amendment-wise, at least) between acquiring (through legal force) the toolkit to get into a phone and forcing a suspected person to aid in the investigation against him/herself.

Is there maybe more nuance to this than the courts are racist ?

By my estimation of the court's thought process, without actually reading the opinion, the primary issues regarding education are:

1. As opposed to other rights in the Bill of Rights, this would be a positive right in that it would force government to do something as opposed to preventing government from doing something. This is rare with regards to the protections provided through the Constitution, if not in outright contrast to existing protections. I'm too lazy to do an in-depth analysis at the moment to verify that previous sentence if there are positive rights protected by the Constitution, but nothing jumps out at me at first thought.

2. Even if the Constitution provided positive protections, the "right to an education" is too far removed from the usual cavalcade of life/liberty/property interests protected by the Due Process Clause, which would really be the only avenue to assert such a right. The problem with this approach mirrors the aforementioned: the Due Process Clause is a negative right, as it prevents government from infringing upon one's right to life/liberty/property without due process of law. No other amendment could reasonably be stretched to such a degree, and it's generally recognized that education is primarily a matter for the states' concern, with the federalis playing a support role.

3. The extent to which the U.S. Supreme Court would be willing to extend such a right (based on existing case law) to education would mirror the Court's analysis under the "fundamental interests" protected by the Due Process Clause: the right of access to the court system and to the ballot. Which basically means government cannot go out of its way to disenfranchise people from obtaining an education, but is not obligated to provide as such.

Someone on the Supreme Court (not in any binding fashion) wrote that education sufficient to properly participate in our democratic processes may be a fundamental right, but that's the extent of the Court's opinion on the matter.

I've lived in Lincoln the last 9 years. It's one of the towns they send refugees to when they come to America, so we have a surprisingly large number of immigrants compared to the demographics of the area.

There are a lot more ICE raids in Omaha than Lincoln though.

The processing plant towns also get hit fairly regularly.

Stalin's rampage can be attributed to stereotypical mad man paranoia and efforts to seize and consolidate power by squashing any apparent threat to him. This is easy to understand because it fits into a reasonable (loosely speaking, of course) mindset of a leader that believed his grip on his absolute power was tenuous and constantly at risk of undermining. The killings were also more organic (which doesn't make it any better, obviously) in that they fell within standard methods: shootings (both clandestine and execution-style), starvation, and abuse via conditions.

In contrast, the final stages of the Final Solution were cold, meticulous, separated, and industrialized. It ceased to be a struggle for Hitler to remove his political enemies (quite early on, actually), and instead was a process purely geared towards purging huge swathes of people strictly because of their heritage or abnormalities. It's the aspect of industrialization that sets apart the two (and other mass killing efforts by dictators) in terms of their 'evilness'.
