Fair enough on the layers. I just don't ever really get that specific. "Buzzed" probably covers the first two to me, and "drunk" covers the second two. I may throw out a "hammered" if somebody is literally passing out or puking everywhere, though, fair enough.

So did you just start making up definitions for words when you passed 14 or something, then...?

Saying "Man, he's drunk" has a pretty clear connotation.

I think what I'm saying is pretty clear and simple.

Being "drunk" quite literally means you aren't in control of your actions/behavior/etc.

If you are, then you're not drunk.

Being buzzed is fantastic in social settings.

Most people are not pleasant drunks, though.

I don't find most drunks pleasant, nor do I like being drunk.

Anything less is pretty cool, mileage can vary.

Because drunks at parties are absolutely known for not being complete messes.

If you're in complete control of your own actions, are you really drunk?

It seems we're not talking about the same idea of "drunk," here.

If you're still in control of your actions/faculties, that's "buzzed" to me.

Drunk literally implies you are not.

Getting drunk isn't fun for anybody sounds like something a ninja turtle would tell me in a PSA

I mean, is it really that off? It can be "fun," but what does being drunk actually accomplish? A nice buzz is fantastic, but getting stereotypical "party drunk" sucks. You tend not to remember much, you likely piss SOMEBODY off, the morning after completely blows, and all for "Man that was awesome! i think." And if you're not the one drunk, is it fun to have to clean up after somebody or watch over their drunk ass?

If you can't drink at a party without getting drunk, you've got problems.

Getting a buzz is nice

Getting drunk isn't fun for anybody. The person getting drunk usually doesn't remember much of anything, and the ones who aren't drunk have to put up with their drunk ass.

that's fair - just leave diagnosing anxiety out of it!

I'm not specifically diagnosing, I was just naming potential reasons to basically highlight that to me, personally, no reason is what I'd deem acceptable as far as something I'd want to be around. That includes people that just find it pleasurable.

I'm not trying to dismiss people that smoke as "there must be something wrong with them," I'm just saying that to me, smoking at a party implies they'll be more likely than not to smoke on other occasions as well. And even if I'm wrong, it's not a chance I care to take.

Saying that having a cigarette at a party is a "warning sign of bigger issues" is stupidly judgmental. It's fair to say "I don't like smoking so no" but saying "oh you smoke? there must be something wrong with you" is not.

Perhaps you should reread and see that's not what I'm saying, as the person you quoted was able to see.

Edit: nvm, I misread. But I will say that having a cigarette at a party shouldn't be assumed to be anxiety or a desire to fit in. Smoking is actually, believe it or not, pleasurable for some people.

Even if it's just pleasurable to some people, that could mean it could still be tempting for them to smoke in other situations as well.

What I'm basically saying is that the chance that somebody literally only smokes at parties and never anywhere else isn't a chance I really care to take, personally.

Unempathetic and inconsistent opinions are indeed a pet peeve of mine

There's nothing inconsistent about it. Being around a smoker is unpleasant to me. Smoking has an actual direct impact on me which drinking does not. Thus, casual drinking is not an immediate turn off to me, though it can most certainly become one. Smoking is.

Maybe you should spend less time being bothered by the opinion of somebody you'll never meet and more time figuring out why this subject makes you so insecure.

I'd question why they felt the desire to smoke at parties to begin with. Like, what about a party specifically makes them want to smoke? Is it anxiety? Is it to fit in? Those are warning signs of bigger issues that could easily lead to more frequent smoking, so it'd be a pass for me.

Maybe

Only 2 of the 6 games were actually confirmed to come here, and while only 1 was confirmed to not be, the fact they didn't confirm anything for the other three means they could easily decide not to, so it's still very wait and see mode about pretty much anything DQ.

When they watched GotG they had no clue what to expect, so anything was better. I think if people would go back and watch those movies now they'd have very different opinions.

I disagree with this. I did a rewatch of them all not too long ago and still felt IM2 was very generic, while if anything I liked GotG more upon later viewings since I could appreciate some of the more nuanced stuff more.

Another was that, outside of the ACA and likeDADT/fat marriage, Obama was a pretty moderate President, so by the time 2016 rolled around, all the people inspired by his message had finally gotten jaded enough to rebel against the status quo and cling to a jellybrained racist like Trump.

I don't really believe this. I don't believe that anybody actually felt "Obama was too moderate, I better vote Trump!" with how/what Trump campaigned on.

If they did, it's because they were actually drawn in by what Trump campaigned on, which was hatred and bigotry.

I mean, obviously we'd have had a better rollout if we had a real administration instead of Trump's, but I'm not sure things weren't already happening at lower levels before Biden got elected.

Well, we have proof of vaccines literally sitting in warehouses because the Trump admin didn't actually give instructions on where to send them to, so Pfizer and co. were just like "Uh, we have 'em but..."

And then we have proof that the "federal supply" that was supposedly being saved for second doses/etc. was a lie and literally didn't exist.

It was a mess.

I'm not saying this to praise Biden, specifically. Literally anybody could have gone in there and come up with literally any rollout plan whatsoever and it would've been an improvement because they didn't have one whatsoever before that.

Also, when I say regular schedule, I don't necessarily mean like an actual written out "MWF 2-4, S 3-6" or whatever. The real big streamers tend to do that. I just mean like a general consistency where viewers can atleast have a basic idea of when to find you. If they know they have a chance of finding you on weekday afternoons, that'll help. What hurts is like, if one week you stream at 8am Monday, then 5pm Thursday, then 10am Friday, and then you don't stream again until the following Saturday at 8pm, and so on. That's just going to annoy people and you're not going to grow much.

You definitely need a schedule for any real growth. There's nothing that turns people off more than not knowing when they'll be able to find you streaming, because they're not gonna come back if they don't know when to come back. If you're just doing it 100% as a hobby, then it's unnecessary, but if you actually wanna build viewers you've gotta have some kind of consistency.
