Well, yes and no.

It actually did air twice in America, but it was hacked up and censored to bits. Of course, the James with boobs part was among the cuts.

It's never been aired since, and I don't think it's even acknowledged anymore.

A sitting President can incite a riot on Capital Hill and get away with it so long as he's a Republican. Imagine if someone who is not as much of a moron as Trump tries this, and also has the full support of the police and military to carry it out. Large swathes of the USA have always been underdeveloped and ignored, which is what most people think a "3rd world country" is. The increased austerity and general corruption of the Trump era has lead to a sense of despair and decay that gives the impression that the country is failing.

Blight is a serious problem in the city. If they just tore down all the damaged abandoned buildings it would look much better.

Final Fantasy VII may not exist as we know it, since Square would have had to make a ton of concessions to get it to work on the N64 cartridge. Once the Dreamcast and its disks came out, I'd imagine that the Dreamcast would see far more support for the same reason devs supported the Playstation over the N64, except with higher specs on the DC as opposed to the PSX.

The Dreamcast would have been a legit contender.

Plus, without the Playstation releasing when it did, Nintendo may have stubbornly stuck with carts for a bit longer.
