Hell, there was a time where in Japan, Pokemon was seen by kids as for "old people", while Yo-Kai Watch was the new popular monster series for kids. It was enough to spook Game Freak and TPC to implement aspects of Yo-Kai Watch into the series with Sun/Moon, notably the Rotom Dex blatantly evoking Whisper, and the slice-of-life nature of the Sun/Moon anime series.

They take the US for granted.

More like, they--people who have lived here their entire lives--know that the US still isn't perfect and is in several ways very shitty to minorities, so there's still work to be done. They know more than a woman who escaped a shitty country and now have a myriad of freedoms compared to where she came from, so she doesn't really see just how bad the US can be to some people. Especially since it seems she fell in with rich White people.

American society didn't stop improving with MLK's "I Have a Dream" speech.

It's memory loss so severe that they can regress years or even decades, even believing that people who have long since passed on are still living, and they may even lose their sense of self. They are literally not in a state of mind to consent to anything, let alone sex, and typically needs round-the-clock care because even doing the simplest tasks themselves--including making their own food and going to the bathroom--is nigh-impossible.

My grandmother developed dementia in the months leading up to her passing, and my mom and sister had to tend to her needs all the time.
