Watched Knock at the Cabin and I'm mixed on it. It had strong performances by the stars, and I do love a movie that takes place all in a singular location with nothing else to distract you, but I think its biggest weakness is stopping short of actually saying something about the world.

It was entertaining and interesting enough but the film was content with throwing around buzzwords and stereotypes without anything getting said. It's like "Oh, you guys are just internet forum weirdos" or "We're gay and we get discriminated against!" And that's it. Just the issue gets mentioned and then moves on to another topic without ever really confronting these real issues head-on. Horror just does these things so much better nowadays and Knock at the Cabin felt really empty as a result.

That being said, Bautista's schtick is still fun to watch especially and Shyamalan even brought back his penchant for gut-wrenching found-footage news like the Alien sighting in Signs, which got my blood pumping here.

It's an unusually overly straight-forward film for him, and it is worth a watch if you're in the mood for something both a little silly and tense at times. Ultimately, it just lacks substance.

Yup, I deliberately went for RE's "softer" side when it comes to visual design / aesthetic, which is nevertheless a huge part of RE's horror and why they work so well as atmospheric pieces. The places being so well-maintained make you realize just how recently tragedy has struck. These huge, looming Gothic foyers now stand beautifully erected to greet exactly no one except the next poor soul that stumbles into its purview. I'm super glad you mentioned the lighting and doors, and also that the first pic wasn't too extreme for you, as I definitely wanted to capture RE's more vicious side as well.

Man I want to be excited for Suicide Squad since every Arkham game is a masterpiece, but it just looks so sloppy and repetitive plus I don't like loot-type games all that much and the UI is a disaster. None of the characters remind me of the Arkhamverse, it just looks so misguided to me.

It's still absolutely criminal Spec Ops didn't make the main bracket.

I was really excited about it at first, when stuff like Nightcafe and Dali and talktotransformer came out and it was really fun to mess around in. Now it's gotten out of hand scarily quick and I admit it's worrisome as both a writer and consumer myself. I still think fun and cool stuff can came out of AI but I'm not nave enough to not realize the potential for theft and greed that can result from it as well.
