Highpoint of Kentucky Route Zero will forever be the song though, I can forgive pretty much all of its faults for that moment.

Pool Nation FX (XBO)

I enjoyed my time with it, but was also happy to be done with it near the end. It's got your typical sports games bullshit that just drove me insane. I also didn't know anything about pool before starting so I put it on easy. Seeing as how I struggled at times, I wonder if that was for the best or if would have gotten more enjoyment out of it if wins felt more rewarding. Ah well.

Rainbow Six Vegas (360)

Wasn't too big into this one. I found the difficulty curve odd; the game starts off being very scarce with checkpoints and dying just puts you back to the start of the level basically, and the closer you get to the end of the game, the more it feels like the game gives you a checkpoint for every hallway you go through. Maybe it was just because I got better or the end of the game is easier to control but it was noticeable.

This game also has a pretty weird control scheme as far as I'm concerned, which also didn't help with getting used to it.

Solid game still though, it didn't do anything poorly (considering the release date). Just never going to be singing its praises.

Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep - Final Mix (PS3)

Thoroughly enjoyed this. I enjoyed the different characters and their playstyles; Terra felt so unlike other KH protagonists with how slow and unagile he was, Ventus felt like a Drive-form at all times and Aqua was wet paper tissue...until she got spells, and then she turned into the biggest, most destructive glass cannon I've ever had the pleasure of playing with. That girl kills, yo.

The story was typical KH shenanigans. It was probably even more so; especially Terra's story suffered from an overabundance of darkness darkness friends light darkness darkness. I did enjoy some of the plot twists, but I can't tell if I enjoy them for what they are or because it was silly. While the different main characters were cool, the Disney worlds felt kind of sparse and short a lot of the times. Each character kinda had a few worlds that felt a bit longer and more expansive, but it definitely felt way more like background rather than something that had really been crafed.

Melding was a really cool way to get new skills and build abilities. I think the only flaw with it for me was just how unintuitive it was. Figuring out how to make Firaga wasn't hard, but all the other cool abilities really kind of feel like a trial-and-error, which isn't that bad, but it can be a chore if you don't get anything interesting and then have to grind that ability back up again so you can try out some stuff.

I didn't do much with the Command Board; it was neat but a bit too slow for my liking. Disney Town minigames were fine; the driving one was confusing but once you knew the shortcuts it was fine, Fruitball was hectic fun and Ice Cream Beat is a hellspawn that must be eradicated from existence as soon as possible.

Kudos to the Final Mix people for dropping me out of my chair with the extra level and boss in the Secret Ending. It was a bit disappointing given the limited amount of different Heartless to fight, but oh well. The secret boss was really tough, which also made me realize something about BBS in comparison to other KH games; I feel like it's a lot more defensive/patience-based than other KH games that I played (not counting secret/hidden bosses). Wonder what side the other KH games will be...

I > BBS > II > CoM

I have a real soft spot for I, BBS just has so many cool combat moves and it's been quite a while since I played II, so we'll see if it climbs again in the future. CoM was fine but I definitely didn't understand the combat system well enough when I played it. Wonder if I should replay it on GBA or PS3?

Crusader: No Remorse (Origin)

Fun game. Gameplay took a while to get used to as I'm not very used to isometric games, but once I got the hang of it I enjoyed my time. Controls are normally a make-or-break deal for me, but I was able to get through this game despite the controls being GODAWFUL. They actually got worse over time, as I was able to move with holding RMB at first, but for some reason that totally glitched out on the final two missions and I had to start using the arrow keys. Not great considering that slowed my shooting and enemies in the final missions hit hard.

Anyway, fun setting, great cutscenes (man, FMV is such a hoot), an astonishing OST (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSF4LJLYByU this is the first mission for crying out loud) but godawful controls. I don't own the sequel and I'm wondering if I should find some way to put in my collection so I might play it someday.

That spread is something I've been waiting for forever. OP is at its best pre-timeskip imo because that story is about the Straw Hats as opposed to post-timeskip when it's very Luffy-focused.

I'm surprised they're still dubbing it at all, to be honest.

I need to start watching again with One Pace. I quit watching during the Fishman Island arc and went solely to the manga because of the pacing and supposedly One Pace fixes it (as much as they can).

The only thing you need to be aware of regarding One Pace is that it is done by amateurs. They started in Dressrosa and it shows, as some cuts are really rough and the format can change from episode to episode because they were still figuring things out (I started in Dressrosa and they did 25 minute eps but then later on it turns into 40 min eps). I also feel that they cut too much sometimes; I get they want to stick close to the manga but manga =/= anime; some things need to breathe a bit when animated.

Oxenfree (GOG.com)

Very interesting, fun, and enjoyable. I was a little disappointed at the villain turn near the end, but it ended up alright. Will probably play this again in the future to try and get the best(?) ending but I can't sit through the same dialogue and slow walking again right away.

I hope we dont skip Elbaf now.

It just feels like there is so much left to do.

I don't really understand why people seem so convinced we'll go to Elbaf. I guess it's been talked about a lot and the SH are still following the Log Pose(?) but I don't see a 'reason' to go there (while I would much prefer the adventure style rather than the dedicated "let's go there" of post-Punk Hazard).

Maniac64 posted...
Most of all I still just want a closing "arc" of just Strawhats completing personal dreams/missions or returning to visit home islands and past allies.

Like we need to go back and see Laboon.

I highly doubt this will be a thing as well. I can see there being a page dedicated to it, but I can't really see there being a genuine scene where Brook reunites with Laboon. I think you'll never be able to beat people's imagination when it comes to things like that.

Also, I would need some clarification. Final Fantasy XII for instance has an opening cinematic and a menu screen cinematic that plays if you wait too long. Do both of these count? Or only one of them? Also ME 2 does give you control at the start, but it is only to basically walk from A to B. Would that one count?

All the windows in JJ's opening are a reference to the fact that she's a PI, so she is constantly spying on people. I love the touches of one of the windows lighting up (a reference to the superhuman/inhuman surge in the MCU post-Agents of SHIELD) and the two people shown right after that are Luke Cage and Matt Murdock. There's also several shots alluding to infidelity/spousal abuse/rape (important given Jessica's history) and of course, the title card breaking Jessica's name, showing how broken she is (and how easily she can break things). Love that intro.

As a nice touch to the Dexter intro; showcasing all the ways one can kill someone! Smashing/splatting, slitting, cutting, breaking/crushing, slicing, grinding, asphyxiation,... It's such a cool intro.

Wow, I didn't expect JJ to make it further than BB. I love that intro and while I'm 'biased', I prefer it to the Batman TAS intro, so I'm a little sad to see it losing out to that one.

Like you said, I think it perfectly encapsulates the show. It first shows everything Terry/Batman fight against, and then all the things they fight for. I like how Bruce is constantly portrayed as somewhat threatening, almost like he could be some kind of villain on the show. But it makes sense; imagine being Batman all your life. You'd be a hard person.

That's the same tinfoil hat that predicted he was holding onto it until S8 was done. When everyone is stuck at home, releasing a book could only be useful.

I agree with your statement in Obra Dinn about new games being a revolutionary experience. I think a lot of games have played it safe, really since the 360/PS3 era. You could argue that something like Breath of the Wild was revolutionary in the Zelda franchise, but I don't really feel that in regards to other games.

It's why I love everything I've seen from Half Life: Alyx. That feels like the first VR game that is more than a VR port or a tech demo. It's not perfect, but in a way it serves kind of a purpose that I feel HL2 did (which was a more refined/perfect experience): it gives everyone a kind of template of "Hey, look, do something like this, it works and it can be done".

Yeah, picking the "best" DW intro was kind of tough. This is one of my favourite tracks, but I could've gone with one of Matt Smith's or Peter Capaldi's as they showcase a bit more space- and time travel, respectively, but I don't like those tracks as much.

Thinking it over I probably should've gone with Capaldi's rock intro. Ah well.

SNAKE EEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER! Still the only MG game that I've played, but what an unforgettable experience.

I love Final Fantasy X. I'm biased because it was one of my first experiences with console gaming, but what a game. Tidus can be annoying, but I also feel he is very realistically written for someone with his background, his lifestyle, and the situations he finds himself in during the game. All the characters are pretty great in their own ways, and as you say, the leadup to the central plot twist of the game is really well done and so impactful.

Top Gear has some wild intros throughout its life. When it comes to pure whack, there's one in the 80s I wanna say that doesn't even have a single car in it, only bits and pieces of the tech of a car and watching it you just go "Who allowed this?"

I mostly nominated it because Jessica is maybe the best song for any title theme ever, and I picked that specific version because it probably shows best what the program is all about; a couple of dudes doing crazy stuff with cars.

Considering it has dropped out, I'm expecting Doctor Who to go any minute now.

I don't even think Warship Island is a bad filler arc, it just mostly sticks out because it's a 'long' one whereas most filler arcs are only like 3-4 eps.

Daddy the Father iirc is technically canon I think (Oda wrote it somewhere), but I think the Sanji ep is 100 % filler.
