The art museum is also there but it's closed for TWO YEARS for renovations. It better look incredible when they're done. If you're into shopping there's a pretty cool mall called Canal City with all kinds of stores. I even went to a Claire's there in honor of them shutting down in the US, haha. Definitely take the train out to Dazaifu Shrine, about 30 minutes. Not only is it an awesome shrine, but it's next to the Kyushu National History Museum, which has some awesome artifacts. I was looking at 1200 year old books and stuff. So cool! Fukuoka is a train ride from Nagasaki (about $100 round trip) and that's a beautiful city that's very tourist friendly. There are streetcars that go everywhere. Definitely recommend the Atomic Bomb Museum and adjacent Peace Park. You can also swing by Dejima, the old Dutch trading settlements from when this was the only point of contact to the West. It's kind of special to get a coffee at the place that introduced coffee to Japan, haha. (It's also pretty dang cool that the Nagasaki International Club, a place for communicating with people from around the world hundreds of years ago, now has wifi so I can do the same thing!) I was only in Nagasaki for a few hours but there's more to do there for sure. It has the 3rd best nightscape in the world according to some poll, and they're very proud of it, so you can ride up a nearby mountain and I'm told it's very beautiful and romantic. as for Okinawa, it depends on what time of year. If you're coming in the late Summer, it'll be absolutely miserably hot, but there's also Eisa Festivals to attend! If you have time to go to an outer island you can do snorkeling and stuff, but that's not really my jam. In Naha, you have to go down Kokusai Doori (International Street) for some neat shopping and Okinawan food. Also check out Shuri Castle (close to Naha).
