Also to play devil's advocate, Mega Man is going to be end up being one of the Rushmore entrants with the least amount of actual relevant modern-day popularity. It's amazing that a character can held up in such high esteem despite having 0 relevant games for decades. Even in his heydey his games never actually sold that well, and nowadays? Without Smash, a character like Phoenix Wright would legitimately be much more well-known among younger gaming crowds. But it's all-around underwhelming. The gameplay and story start alright, but after around the 5th gym everything gets too rushed and yet you end up overleveled despite that, and the story becomes a total joke.
