Just got to where Vin is learning Allomancy and burns tin for the first time. That little bit sheer she sees stars for the first time, and Kelsier talks about how it used to be anyone could see them... Really cool but of world building just thrown in. I love it.

The trade isn't finalized yet, IIRC. There are still things that need to be done over the next year.

Either they have to just suddenly introduce the gene and ignore the tons of history in x-men lore, or. Face the fact that nobody even acknowledged this huge change happening across the world.

In Mistborn, aluminim can't be affected by Allomancy, and wearing a hat lined with aluminum makes you immune from emotional Allomancy.

Are there any major connections beyond Hoid? I know Szeth's sword came from Warbreaker but nothing seems to explain how the fuck it got on Roshar

The biggest three I know:

Vasher appears in the Stormlight books as well. That's how Nightblood got there.

Sanderson has confirmed allomancy has happened in one of the Stormlight books.

The big bad of the Wax and Wayne series is appearing to be heavily related to Odium in Stormlight.

Now that I finished Oathbringer, I wanna go back and see connections. Need to go through Warbreaker too, and maybe Elantris.

with how lawsuit happy this country is, I'm shocked that this is everyone's go to example when complaining about how often people sue. The coffee case was perfectly legitimate.

Actually frivolous lawsuits are heavily on the decline, and have been for awhile.

I would still recommend The Wheel of Time

It has the whole "good vs evil" vibe to it, but twists it around just enough to be interesting to me, and a lot of the times the heroes don't act like heroes, especially the main one later in the series.

Eh, I love Wheel of Time but it's pretty straight good vs Evil for the most part. It's strength was more I'm the great world building.

I'm not sure what you mean by this. Any book worth reading is going to have a protagonist and an antagonist even if it doesn't necessarily have a happy ending. These are generally going to be portrayed as quest for good and evil.

Not at all. Protagonist and antagonist doesn't mean good and evil, the morality can be way more gray than that. First Law is a good example, so is the Divine Cities.

Also, something with a small, personal story rather than fighting a great evil, like the shattered sigil Trilogy, can be very refreshing.

Lies of Locke Lamora is a great one. Think pirates of the carribean meets oceans 11 with a little magic thrown in.

The Divine Cities Trilogy by Robert Jackson Bennett is amazing, three separate but connected stories.

The First Law Trilogy and follow up books are really good if you want some more grim dark stuff.

Patrick Rothfuss' Kingkiller Chronicles are pretty good -- there's a little bit of "good and evil" aspect to it, but I like his prose, and there's quite a bit of character building that I enjoyed. First book is called Name of the Wind. Fair warning though, it's unfinished -- only the first two books of the (planned) trilogy are released.

Can attest to this. There's also an unusual dynamic (for a fantasy series) where it's not entirely clear what you should believe from the narrator.

Kvothe is totally full of shit, bound to be. It just fits his personality too well.

All you're doing is sitting in front of your computer playing video games and checking chat to respond to comments or questions and you get paid 6 figures to do so.

If you're one of the few huge ones, sure, you can do an occasional stream when you feel like it and rake in money. If you're a mid to small stream, you have a set work schedule, or you lose viewers and subs. You can't just play what you feel like if you want to grow. You have to invest money in better setups, you have to have a regular and engaging broadcast, you have to deal with working through sick days and personal issues. It isn't just "playing games and chatting".

Very, very few have it that's easy. For most it's a huge commitment.

It keeps running with the joke that you can't tell Asians apart, but most people don't notice the girls they bring back to the office are not the waitresses from Benihana.

He jumped genres many times in his career. The only consistent theme is that it's weird.

To summarize way too much: he started out more rock-focused, then moved into more of a jazz-rock fusion, then started bringing in more classical elements near the end of his life. Throughout all of it there's a strong experimental/avant-garde bent in both the music and the lyrics, and it can get extremely complex at times.

If you're into Queen and considering Rush, you should check out the "Shut up and play yer guitar" compilation albums of his. They aren't albums so much as exhibits to showcase the kind of insane guitar playing he was known for.

yeah, its pretty silly to worry about what difficulty others are playing on. And games like wolfenstein that make fun of people that want to play on lower difficulties are childish.

To be fair, I'd be sad if Wolfenstein or Doom didn't do it, because it's tradition and fits the over the top everything for the games.

Sometimes for. Me, all times for others, never for some. There is no right or wrong when it comes to how much difficulty and complexity you prefer tbqh

I beat Doom on hard as a kid, but my favorite thing ever was cheating and higher difficulties and mowing through enemies. Years later, I did it in GTA games, because the rampages were so satisfying.

A good challenge has its place, but sometimes just stomping everything is satisfying :)

I was reading about this. Even if what I've heard rumored is true, that prior to the shooting she'd pointed a gun at them during a chase(and even that's doubtful for a variety of reasons), this is inexcusable.

I'm a big police supporter, but the bottom line is that if any reasonable person would know your actions are putting innocent in danger, you are in the wrong every time. And one of the first rules of firearms, including among police, is to know your firing area.
