I've completely cut off contact with my stepfather and mother and their sides of the family for very similar reasons. Regular racial slurs and even so far as saying them in front of friends/girlfriends of mine of that race.

Almost all the kids have cut off contact as we've moved into adulthood, actually. A couple years ago I'd still drop by to see my younger brother but after he passed away I have no reason to see them.

Oddly enough my bio dad's family is super cool and supportive despite his virtual nonexistence in my life.
I agree that being a racist but caring parent is way more unforgivable than being a deadbeat but non-racist parent. You really still need to out them publicly.

I was going to say try and reach out to them and help them change, but that example is a big yikes. I guess you still should but that is legitimately shocking.

I dont think racism is an inherently generational thing though. I think a lot of it is to do with culture and what we are exposed to.
It doesn't matter. Racism will exist forever unless we call it out and publicly shame people for their thoughts and words. No second chances.

My parents are people that claim they are ok but every now and then you can catch them saying something overtly homophobic/racist. Very much a generational problem.
You absolutely need to publicly out them (especially to their employers if they're still working) whenever this happens. It's the only way to be truly anti-racist.

Theres really no defending it. But I didnt buy earlier because I was skeptical of the airline industry as a whole, and when it jumped like crazy last month I believed that it survived its darkest times and was poised to return to its pre-virus numbers. Thats why I invested in it at that time, I was planning to hold it for a moderate gain. I just didnt expect it to drop so suddenly and harshly.
Why not just wait a year when you're virtually guaranteed a 50% return, minimum? I get that it's tempting to see people bragging about their 400% daily returns, but have some patience! =)

The debates, conventions, VP nomination, covid vaccine, Epstein's madam's trial and testimony all can still happen between now and the election. Let us not forget that Biden was only at 20 cents on the dollar to win the Democratic nomination at one point (fairly late into the season too), so this is far from over.

Hello old politics friends. This will be my last series of posts in these topics.

I wanted to let you know that I have recently uninstalled Twitter, unfollowed all political content on Facebook, and deleted any bookmarks to news sites that I had been using regularly. And I cannot recommend this enough.

It has done wonders for my overall stress levels, increased my productivity, and has allowed me to escape the circular vortex of negativity that is the modern news cycle. The first week or so was kind of tough, as I honestly believe my body was adjusting to the dopamine withdrawals. But after that, my outlook on life has dramatically improved. Instead of procrastinating (as many here do) by refreshing Twitter, reading the comments, or god forbid posting comments, I instead found that it was much more efficient to just complete a task for myself. I have gotten more independent work done in this past month than I have for the earlier part of the year before this; I've been less irritable, more sexually active, more rested, and just in greater spirits than I've been in a very long time.

I know politics is a hobby for all of us, but I am here to tell you that politics in 2020 is a toxic hobby. Unhealthy distractions do reveal themselves from time to time--whether it's too much porn, gambling, Smash tournaments, etc. I urge each of you to give it a try for a month or so and see how your overall disposition changes. If I can help one person here write a great novel or start their own business or volunteer, or anything, then I will leave this series a happy man.
