We did that but with a can. When you pull a card you stick it under the cans tab. Whoever pops the tab with a card chugs it. What's even the point of the king thing? There's only four kings. The loser has to drink four sips of beer?

You pour in more than just a sip. Maybe about half of the drink.

CE is a very jaded place - I once posted a King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard song that was like a Turkish-inspired club song, and somebody told me that it was the worst song they'd ever listened to. That was probably the most direct negative feedback I've ever gotten over something so pointless.

And CE is especially jaded about stuff like Breath of the Wild. Mario Odyssey, too. But that's a topic for another time - nothing has gotten such a weirdly bitter reaction like Breath of the Wild.

I just picked the game up again for the first time in four years, and it still holds up. It's a masterwork of the open world sandbox genre, the open world looks lush and gorgeous to this day and they nailed the quiet, contemplative tone that comes with the juxtaposition between the thriving, natural, green world and the bones of the conquered civilization that it sprang up around.

The openness of the setting is unmatched, too. You can go anywhere. You can climb anything. This is the most open that an open-world game has ever been, the only unreasonable video game progress gates are around the play area and in a handful of areas like the Hyrule Woods. Nobody has been able to capture that unrestrained feeling, that freedom to go anywhere you want, like Breath of the Wild has. The game is almost six years old, and nothing has really approached its level of freedom or polish since.

I understand that people feel like there's nothing to do, but to me? What you do is play. You explore, you try shit out, you tinker and run and explore. This game captures that feeling of "play" that other games lack. I can respect if you feel like it lacks focus, but the lack of focus is absolutely, without question, the point of the game. And it excels because of it.

Like I don't think I understand how someone could play this and just go "ehh, mid game". I can respect that someone feels that way, but I don't understand it. Even in the face of a direct competitor like Immortals: Fenyx Rising, BotW stands out for its quality. Its stripped back nature and gentle, encouraging sense of freedom makes Breath of the Wild a truly inimitable game, and I do genuinely still believe that it's a masterpiece.

King of beers is a drinking game involving a large cup in the middle of a table and a deck of cards. Once shuffled, the cards are spread in a circle around the "King's Cup", and each player takes turns pulling a card.

Each card corresponds to a different rule. Pull a 2, and you point at someone else to make them drink - 2 is You. Pull a 3, you have to take a drink - 3 is Me. 4 is Whores, meaning ladies drink, 6 is Dicks, meaning guys drink. Ace is waterfall, where everyone has to chug to the best of their abilities, and there's a slew of horseshit around one person starting and creating a chain or whatever but imo it's better if everyone just chugs hard.

It's called King of Beers because whenever you pull a king, you have to tip some of your drink into the central cup. And whoever pulls the fourth and final king has to drink whatever unholy concoction that has accrued over the course of the game.

Some people call it King's Cup, which makes more sense, but fuck that. It's king of beers.

Also Cooper's is the best beer brand fuck you all

Also I loved how they did the boss rematches in X. Felt like reverting to the classic boss warp formula was a step back.

I should also say that despite my normie-ass opinion, I only played X for the first time last year. I could never get into it before I got it on the Switch. I'm a total fuckin simp for Mega Man X.

The best Mega Man X game is unironically the first one.

Imagine making a game so fucking fantastic that you make seven more that are never as good as it again. They tried to make a game that was equal or better than Mega Man X for a decade, and they couldn't. Some of the X games are okay, good even. But not a single one was better than Mega Man X.

As for classic Mega Man, I think 2 deserves its reputation but I also really like the first game. Also, the Gameboy games are pretty okay, the first one in particular.

The final boss fight was easy. Otherwise I was dying all over the place.

BotW is such a good game to fuck around in. I should go back through my twitter account and find some clips.

Clearly someone else does your job on the days off. Sound alike everybody there is just taking advantage of you.

In theory I do get days off. I've been busting my ass for time in lieu. In practice though, we're always so busy that it's impossible to take any time off.

And as far as other people doing my job when I'm not there - I work eight hours a day, five days a week. And I work for time in lieu every few Saturdays from 7 to 12. I've actually got work today. I'm never not there tbh.

Sure, but I made this topic after work called me three times yesterday asking me to come in. There are plenty of people at my job who stick their noses where it doesn't belong, they try to meddle with the whole system and it's annoying as fuck. I stick to what I do, and the only time I tell other people what to do is if they come up and ask if they can help.

I do feel like I'm an essential part of the business, but someone else could easily come in tomorrow and start doing the work that I specialise in. I'm aware that I'm expendable. That being said? No-one wants to work the washers and dryers. That's why I specialise in them, because otherwise they just wouldn't get done.

If I died or got fired, the laundry would survive. Someone else would step up and get the work done. While I'm there though? I'm the washer/dryer guy. That's just how it's panned out.

I don't like the superhero episode, though frankly I don't like season three and I haven't watched the show since.

Like ha ha ha Rick builds saw traps for the egotistical superheros while he was drunk and can't remember, and Morty knows how to defuse them because he's used to Rick's careless horseshit, but it shows all the cracks in the superhero team even when they don't have to kill each other. Good episode.

Anyway, the meter reader didn't even fucking come. I ducked into work for a few hours and left a note for the kebab shop to follow up on, no-one showed up. I'm happy I went in, but I'm beyond pissed that the meter reader didn't show up.

Just woke up from a 2 hour nap and I'm drinking, planning to go to the pub once my last can is drank.

Yesterday was a public holiday for the queen's death. I worked 8 hours for time in lieu - it basically adds 8 hours to my annual leave, on top of what I already get every week. Since I worked on Thursday, my Friday is considered a public holiday - I get paid eight hours even though I didn't work.

If I work today, I don't just earn eight hours. I get those right hours in upright pay, and whatever else I work (i.e. an extre three hours at the end of the day) is earned as Time in Lieu.

So say I work 8 hours time in lieu. Then I work 3 hours today.

I get 11 hours time in lieu + 8 hours of pay.

If I don't work those three hours? I still earn 8 hours time in lieu and 8 hours of straight-up pay.

Why is it only up to you whether your job is fucked or not?

My job is kind of essential. I work at a laundry and my job is to keep the washers and dryers going. None of the other workers want to do this job - I work with some people with intellectual and physical disabilities, and even the staff members I work with without these limitations are super fucking busy with their own shit. So my job is to keep the washers and dryers running all day.

Without me being there, I doubt there has been a dedicated effort to unload/reload the washers or dryers. When I'm there, that's all I do - I'm an essential link in the chain of the labor we do. Without me, the work slows to a halt because no-one else will step up to do the same work.

I'm waiting for a meter reader to show up so they can read my electricity meter. I just moved somewhere where the meter is inside of my house, so I have to be home to let them in.

I've gotten three calls from work asking me to come in. We're seriously behind, and they need me. Even though I just worked a public holiday - with today counting as my public holiday - I want to go in and help them. But I can't do that until the meter reader comes in and reads my meter.

Either way I get paid, with time in lieu on top of what I'm already making today. But basically, if I can't get into work in the next hour and a half, we're all fucked.

Edit: the reason it's so important to get my meter read is because I'm starting an account with a new energy provider. Until they read my meter, I can't start an account with them. My landlord is footing electricity rn, but I've already missed one opportunity to begin this account and I don't want to piss off my landlord and the electric company.

It's riddled with MTX, and the idea of the game - earning cards to level up your cars so you can upgrade them - is very much a pay-to-win situation. That being said, the graphics are pretty great and I decided to get back into it.
