We do that all the time. There's a brewery I like and when they get a bad review from a trump supporter, they put it on full blast. Often enough they will effectively ask people to talk to that person's employer to get them fired. I don't agree with the trump supporter, but it feels like it's going too far to try to get that person fired

If I remember right, dandelions are not native to North America and were brought by Europeans because of their medicinal qualities. They are also a legume that can fix the nitrogen in the soil (there's a fungus that can grow on the roots of legumes that can make nitrogen in the air bioavailable to plants). But companies that make herbicides had a hard time creating a herbicide that kills weeds but not dandelions, so we see them as weeds

I dropped it recently. The only reason I signed up in the first place was for the 2 day shipping, and now it's "2 days after they get around to shipping it" not 2 days after you ordered it. And half the time they can't even get that right. The last item I ordered using Prime took nearly a week to arrive.

And Amazon REALLY sucks to shop without Prime because you can't swing a dead cat without "Are you suuuuuuure you don't want to sign up again?" all over the damn place.

At least you have recourse if they fail to deliver it on time as part of the contract. oh wait they got rid of that and now just tell you to wait a few days before letting them know they can cancel the order

It was toxic as shit, I used my account status and access to create an account on a spin-off website that was ten times as toxic (though at least in the early days there were some fun things there, like the LUEfo hoax, Super Mario Tennis and watermelons, iykyk) and I spend literally two full years of my life (if you were to go off the user statistics page) on that community being a total loser and then that got shut down a year or so ago.

I don't think it'll just be conservatives that blame Biden for the exit. It'll likely help Trump a lot since the exit happened when Biden was president. They'll likely cite Afghanistan and the support Biden is giving Israel as reasons to vote for Trump (even though Trump would do the same exact thing)

I've never understood why having an ID to vote is so controversial. You have to have an ID to fly, driver a car, or hell even order a drink at the bar. Seems like a no brainer to have to have an ID to do something such as vote.

From what I hear people don't really have an issue with requiring an id to vote. It's the types of ids that are accepted that is the problem. For example, my state let's you use your hunting or fishing licenses, but not your state university id as a valid voter id. But the good news is that you can get a free id for the purpose of voting if you go to a DMV. Unfortunately they permanently closed DMVs in certain areas after the law was passed, making it nearly impossible to get such an id for some people. Oddly enough the majority of DMVs that were permanently closed were ones in areas with higher minority populations.

I was in a similar situation. My car insurance just went up by well over $100 (6-month policy) for no goddamn reason, and I didn't get my bill until right before I left on vacation. Didn't have the chance to shop around before I left and the next payment was due.

I'm pretty much convinced that the loyalty discounts are useless. They give the best rates to new policy holders and then slowly jack up the rates.

Geico had decent rates but I won't deal with them anymore. They promised to subrogate a claim for me but near the end when they found out it was under my deductible they essentially told me to go fuck myself and they weren't interested in pursuing the claim anymore. Fortunately the other guy's insurance was easy to work with. They also jacked up my rate as a result. My car was parked on a one way street and a guy backed into my car to give a traffic stop more room

WWII Online back in 2001/2002. It was buggy as hell and a lot smaller than promised (they only had the western front in Europe) but it was still fun

The real scam is that if you need to use your insurance regardless of who is at fault, they make you pay it back and then some for the next 5 or so years in the form of much higher premiums

Theres zero reason that we cant keep improving over the historically horrible work system in this so-called 1st world country while places like Sweden keep improving employee health and happiness.

But big oil and timber wont let that happen. Even Boeing had that whistleblower killed after they said anything.

Though the 40 hour work week is much better for manual labor it's not as good for knowledge work. The 8 hour day often drags on and it can be difficult when you finish a task with 15 minutes left in the day but can't leave for another 15 minutes. So you start another task and then end up leaving an hour or two late.

Last week I worked 40 hours in 4 days and then had to use 8 hours of PTO to take 6 hours off on Friday. Sad thing is that's typical of every company I've worked for

Must be nice. The Walmarts near me usually have long waits at the self checkout and the line is usually pretty disorganized so people don't go when they're supposed to. The grocery store I go to has so many employee checks that if the weight of the bagging area isn't exactly what was expected an employee will have to come over and verify the items before it can be unlocked. Some items barely have enough weight to sometimes be detected which can trigger the weight check to constantly fail.

Self checkout is awesome. I'm just as fast if not faster than a cashier, no bs small talk, and no weirdo touching and handling my food who may or may not have showered that day.

Only thing I don't like about it is sometimes I accidentally ring my beefsteak tomatoes as romas which are way cheaper or enter a wrong qty. Oopsie, can't blame me, I don't work there nor was I trained to be a cashier lmao

The Walmarts where I live all check for this now and loss prevention will bring you back to their office for doing this as they wait for the police to arrive

The self checkout being faster is an illusion. There are usually more self checkouts open. I always see when I'm waiting to checkout since some of the stores near me don't really have staffed checkouts anymore that there will be a few people taking way too long to find barcodes and then only start to slowly bag things after they pay. It's way more frustrating.

And if you need assistance for anything when checking out? Good luck getting the attention of the employee who is supposed to be looking over the self checkouts since they're usually not paying attention and just have their earbuds cranked up so they can't hear anything either

We really need to stop saying that climate change is bad for the planet. The planet will be just fine. We won't be.

As far as politicians go, they've been told fair decades how bad climate change could get and we haven't hit those extremes. We're unlikely to get to the worst case scenario during their lifetimes (unless they live to be 90-110) so they'll prioritize what's making them money since nothing appears to be going wrong yet.

Completely unrelated: it's totally normal to have 60-70 degree temperatures and thunderstorms in January and February in Wisconsin. Not out of the ordinary at all /s (I do have a family member who laughs at the idea of climate change since it's been "proven" that the temperature hasn't increased at all in over a decade. Just every year is an abnormal year until the polar vortex hits and he asks jokingly "where's that global warming when you need it?')

I know a few smart people who say the economy works on a 4-8 year cycle. It will take 4 years for policies to take effect (unless the president gets two terms. In that case it takes 8 for the first term and 4 for the second). I kind of just nod and walk away since there's probably nothing that will change their minds

A lot of places around me close self checkouts to make it more manageable for the staff they have. It leads to very long lines for self checkout and if they have any staffed checkouts it's usually only one and it's as far away from the self checkouts as possible. It almost always moves faster than self checkout too.

We also have at least one grocery store where you have to know exactly how many bags you will have and hope that all of the items are heavy enough that they can be detected as bagged. If you don't have enough bags then you have to wait until after you pay or the system will lock you out until an employee can verify your items which takes awhile since there are likely at least 2 others that need to have their bagged items verified.

The only way I find self checkout to be better is you can it reduces the number of bags you need (Walmart is particularly egregious in my experience in they will only bag 1-3 items per bag)

That is part of the whole "great reframing" done by the right. It's the same as how people are trained to view "illegal immigrants" as a term for people who are boarder hopping when the reality is that it's a completely negligible amount that that's what it applies to and mostly the term refers to people whose work visas expired (and they entered 100% legally).

This too. My family was sharing a meme about airport security vs border security, showing how difficult it is to get through an airport vs what is essentially a welcome banner at the border. The ironic thing about it is it's a lot easier for them to come in via the airport and overstay their visa

There are areas that just need proof of address instead of identification. Also, if I remember right, there are places undocumented immigrants can get identification for the purpose of voting

Yeah, killing any embryo would count as a type of manslaughter. Why would any lab work in Alabama then? IVF REQUIRES discarding multiple embryos.

It doesn't necessarily require discarding anything. They could set up an appointment to collect one egg and make an embryo from that. If it isn't viable, just make another appointment. It'll just substantially increase the price of the treatment for those who cant get it on the first attempt

Nice to see that they blamed both sides. The Democrats want the extreme policy of allowing third trimester abortions and Alabama accidentally went a little too far by making our current method of IVF illegal or prohibitively expensive.

I don't think people are putting off getting an abortion until the third trimester out of laziness. I could be wrong, but if they're going in that late it's likely something went wrong that made the pregnancy no longer viable.

It sucks, but it's not like there weren't like 40 other state lottery websites and the Powerball's own website showing the correct numbers where he could've double checked (yeah, I know that's probably the last thing he'd be thinking of).

I'd think he's maybe entitled to something, but I doubt that something would even cover the court and lawyer costs he'll incur pursuing it.
