I dont know why people are acting like the students cant have different opinions on the matter. Theyre not a hive mind. Unfortunately, it also makes sense that each news source will only want to promote those students whose views line up with their own.

it's is a contraction meaning "it is"

Yes, and this should help:

Anyway, US politics is divisive now, but there have definitely been other times where it was equal or more divisive. Im thinking the Civil War as an obvious example.

pretty much why i carry. dont put your faith in the police or the government to be there for you.

That is a good point, which I think most people will ignore or fail to appreciate. I honestly dont mind living in a ban-all-guns society, but no anti-gun voter has ever been able to guarantee that they can reasonably protect my life and my familys lives.

With all the protests and scandals that have happened in recent years, we dont even trust the police and FBI to do their jobs right and with our best interests in mind, yet somehow Im supposed to trust them to show up in time to stop an active shooter, even though that never happens because they only arrive at the crime scene when dozens of people are already dead. Now we have an incident with an officer who did not even try to protect students and staff. This does not help the anti-gun argument. Its the opposite of that.

"for boys"

if you would have ended that sentence with "for boys" we would be on the same page and i have unfortunately met plenty of left leaning people who basically flat out said something along the lines of "no, girls are the ones who really need more help, boys just need more discipline"

I mean, you can have your strawman if that makes you happy, but that is very much so not the case.

Is it, though? There are definitely people who laugh or are offended when its brought up that boys are starting to be marginalized in schools and that there are numerous support groups for women but almost none nationwide for men. Raising concerns that men have is not uncommonly mocked as just being some MRA propaganda or systemic misogyny.

It makes the weakest "men" feel like big men. Their fathers instill that owning a gun is equal to becoming a man.

Those two statements can be separated, although some families probably do train their sons that way. What I mean is that having a firearm does equal the field of combat, at least moreso than one person having a gun and their opponent not having one. That could be seen as a weak man being equal to a strong man, but Im not sure why people imply that is a bad thing. Is it wrong, for example, that a woman doesnt have to fear a male attacker, if she carries a gun?

As for the gun conveying masculinity, there is certainly a bit of tradition that is passed on from some fathers to some sons. Thats never the be-all-end-all of manhood, though, and its not as if girls shouldnt be trained to use firearms correctly and safely.

I think you were right about everything else, but Kevin Feige (white dude) produced Black Panther.

He's one of the producers, but Nate Moore is another.

Yes, Moore was one of five IMDB-listed executive producers who worked on behalf of Kevin Feige and David J. Grant (Feiges co-producer). Interestingly, Stan Lee is also listed as an executive producer. I have my doubts that Lee did much other than sign off on (i.e. approve) some decisions, considering his clout at Marvel.

Edit: have you guys watched Manchester by the Sea? It was nominated for a bunch of Oscars and Casey Affleck did win a Golden Globe, but the ending is bleak. I never recommend it to anyone, even though it was an interesting family story.

Do teachers get paid for/over the summer break?

It depends. They decide if they will receive their pay equally through the year (i.e. paid even in the summer) or they get paid just through the months they work. The salary should remain the same either way, thus the first option gives smaller but more evenly distributed pay, while the second option is bigger pay but for less pay periods. (Sorry, this probably varies from state to state.)

I don't know if any school personnel should be armed or not, but I will say that law enforcement officers are largely ineffective against active shooters because LFO's can't respond quickly enough. Dozens of students and staff die before the first LFO shows up. I doubt most teachers would want the extra responsibility of taking down a shooter, but it's also sad to read of unarmed teachers getting killed.

Dude, be honest. Who has been saying that teaching is the hardest profession? It's an underrated job and lots of teachers get frustrated with the extra work and lack of respect from parents. Primary level (i.e. elementary school) can be especially taxing because you have to cover several subjects (high school typically covers one subject per teacher) and you have to be trained and responsible for children, as opposed to young adults. I think most schools now include special needs students as well. It's not an easy job and everyone wants to throw you under the bus when the children don't excel or have disciplinary issues.
