I like stories like that, the ones dealing with people who are at the tailend of their life, career, etc. There were a lot of people who didn't like Birdman's gimmick of "one" continuous shot, but it kept me more engaged in the story. Casting was pretty good, too. Emma Stone made me a fan with that performance, and I always liked Norton, Watts and Galifianakis.

It's easy to do when you paint yourself as morally superior. They say that rich people demonize those who are poor, but it definitely happens the other way around also. Supposedly you could only have been successful by inheriting what you have or doing something illegal or immoral. If you show that you sacrificed a lot, made smart choices and did it all with consistency, then it's just downplayed and handwaived as luck or privilege. This is how people can rationalize that someone wanting to keep their money is greedy, but wanting someone else's money and then using the government to forcibly take it is not greedy.

Nah, I think this is fine. Black Adam should be absolutely intimidating, both in size and demeanor. Shazam is traditionally shown as physically powerful also, but he has a boyish awkwardness that would be harder for many actors to fake. Zachary Levi has that charm. Working out will help him look right in costume, but he doesn't need to match up to or outmuscle the Rock.

That is a fair consideration to make. When it comes to movies, I prefer the argument that racial diversity (or the lack of it) should only be a factor if it makes sense to the production of a movie as an artistic endeavor. In a perfect world, studios wouldn't have to worry about making decisions based on profit, and definitely not because of social pressures. They would just make kickass movies (or laid back, deep introspective ones, I guess). This is why I would be Ok with a movie being mostly white, mostly black, or whatever as long as the artistic product is better for it. I know that when I watch Black Panther, the last thing on my mind will be this movie sure could use more Vietnamese people. I mean that would make it more diverse, but it probably wouldn't make much sense.

Obviously we do not live in a perfect world, so the focus on increasing sales and bowing to social pressure will probably not end any time soon.

I've seen a few male friends hang around women who are not interested in them romatically, with the hope that the women will eventually change their minds. These women let them linger because they get something out of it. One woman gets a dude who drives her around to do errands and buys her lunch. Another just uses this guy for emotional support because the family life is not so good. Another woman, whom I consider particularly vile, uses two guys to show other women that she must be important because the guys do what she wants. That one really bothers me because it's more blatant than the first two examples.

These people are supposedly "friends," but the guys want more than that and are just being delusional. Fuck, it's so pathetic and nothing the rest of us say seems to change anything.

It is. DS2 is my favorite. It's graphical improvements and choice in weapons over DS keeps it in the number one spot for me. I couldn't even finish DS3. It started out kind of cool, as far as Issac's story, but then it just meander that I didn't care to play it. Plus the change in weapons and upgrading was so far from the first two it started to not even feel like a DS game at all.

Thanks for the review. I think I'll buy it this weekend. It's got to be pretty cheap now.
