Pretty much every institution will have a process to follow in the case of academic integrity violations. For most schools, this involves meeting with the students prior to any punishment being administered. At the meeting, you need to explain what you are accusing them of and allow them to respond. Presumably, this will need to be a zoom (or some equivalent) meeting.

I have caught many students cheating over the past decade. Some will confess right away. Others will deny. Most will say they thought they were following the rules and will give some flimsy explanation.

I also gave a take home exam a couple weeks ago, though I wrote five separate versions. I recommend giving them different exams next time.

Animal Crossing is huge right now. My wife normally couldn't care less about video game websites, and yet she is reading the GameFAQs animal crossing message boards.

So I couldn't help but notice in the contest standings page that

2*user votes + anonymous votes

is not the same as adjusted votes. Is this because of users who registered after the deadline still being counted as "users" but only having their vote count as 1 vote?

Also about Mario Kart 8: It looks like Uncharted 4 is going to be free on PS plus starting next Tuesday, mere days before its match. Pretty sure this website doesn't care for Uncharted though.

I think 2B is much more popular than the game. I think Nier is going to win its match but it's not going to be a blowout like some of these other ones.

I also think the only reason people are surprised about today's octopath result is because of the last game contest. If that contest had never happened, would you still have taken undertale here?

Breath of Fire actually doesn't game over when all your characters die, so rewinding might not have been as needed as you might think. It brings you to the last dragon statue, but if I remember right you keep all the experience/items you found (there might be a GP penalty).

I remember as a kid getting stuck in two places. The first was when they left you with just the fish character (Gobi?) to find some town. I died right away and it actually takes you to a dragon statue in the town, but I had no idea how to get back and spent an unusually long time trying to figure it out (I even went into the undersea volcano with just Gobi thinking I needed to).

The other place was when you temporarily lose Nina. You had to go hunt for certain items with very vague instructions and I remember being wandering around aimlessly for a week.

I have this distinct memory of the game being really really long and epic but I think that's just a kid's skewed perception of time (I was probably 9 or 10 at the time). I also remember it blowing my mind that the normal battle music would change as you progressed (even modern games don't do that very often!) and I liked that it had a day/night system. The worst part to me was the item names. I could never decipher what anything was supposed to be!

Still, I've never had the urge to revisit it (or its immediate sequel). The PSX games have probably held up better, but I've also never felt the urge to replay them.

I enjoyed Life is Strange, but mostly because I streamed it and had people on discord laughing at / commenting on the plot and the questionable decisions I was making. I don't think I would have enjoyed it as much as a strictly single player game. It had a lot of weird game decisions, like the bottle hunting in the junkyard for no reason that did nothing but waste your time.

Also, I'm one of those people who only played Edith Finch due to it being on PS+.

Geo seems scarce at the beginning but towards the end you'll be rolling with it. I wouldn't sweat over 2k.

The difficulty felt comparable to a number of SNES games to me. I think I only ever died on bosses and usually a bench was not too far away.

Something I didn't figure out for a long time: If you quit the game, it will save and take you back to your last bench. So if you are low on health, just quit the game and resume. It'll keep everything you found but you'll be back to the safety of a bench.

I originally had Hollow Knight > FFXV in my bracket, but with the contest delay I saw the match overlapping with a major Final Fantasy release and changed it. I think Hollow Knight will lose to bad timing and had a legit chance to win otherwise.

The single player and the editor of Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos were great, but the multiplayer had a lot of questionable decisions. Frozen Throne was greatly improved, no doubt in part due to them hiring Tom Cadwell to work on the multiplayer. He is considered one of the pioneers of a lot of RTS fundamentals in the original Starcraft and won the first Brood War tournament. Many multiplayer issues were fixed in Warcraft III due to his influence and the game went on to become a competitive e-sport. He later left Blizzard though, and went on to work as the design director for Riot Games around 2008 (where he still works) and was again a major contributor to the success of one of the most popular e-sports in the world.

That's not how rallying works though. What's going to happen if you have a rally on, say, a pokemon reddit is that (some) people are going to come to the poll, see that Breath of the Wild is in the poll, go "hey I love that game!" and vote for it instead.

You need really specific circumstances for a rally to work, not just a link on the subreddit of whatever game you want to push.

It's really unfortunate the cost of entry for VR is so high (relatively speaking). You don't realize how much fun Beat Saber is until you actually play it.

Beat Saber: I was very skeptical of VR in gaming. Surely the tech is a long way out, right? That all changed when I went to an arcade that had VR and happened to play Beat Saber. I went home that night and immediately ordered a VR headset. It's a complete joy to play and gives you a good workout. I've probably logged hundreds of hours and it's been a hit at our house with almost everyone who's visited. Seriously if you haven't played this, you owe it to yourself to find a VR arcade and give it a shot. In my eyes the VR headset was worth the price for this game alone. If anything, it deserves a nomination just for showing that VR games can be great.

DOTA 2: I've seen several posts lamenting the lack of League of Legends, when its near equal in the MOBA genre was a 2013 release. Someone will have to fact check me but I think DOTA 2 is among the highest prize pools of all time in the esports world. Fiercely competitive and not for casuals, this update of a Warcraft 3 custom map certainly has a claim for being among the decade's greats. Plus, if you like rallies, DOTA 2 is as good a bet as any (although I don't think you should bet on one this contest).

Tetris 99: Online Tetris Battle Royale? With 99 players all at once? With strategic decision making on who to target? For free? How can you not nominate this game?

There are lots of fantastic games this decade, but the average person who still comes to GameFAQs probably hasn't played them. A fair percentage of users here that still game probably just play remasters of their old favorites + Nintendo's AAA.
