Then I sneezed once and heard a loud pop and felt the pain. As a kid if I threatened to call the authorities, I was told they'd go to prison and I'd lose my family. That I'd get put into foster care where I'd be beaten and cussed worse, plus starved and not allowed to even step outside and that everyone would hate me. So I was always afraid to do that, Eventually it became routine, I just assumed that's how every family was behind closed doors and thought I had been a stupid bratty child for thinking things were wrong. I did end up calling the police on my dad the one time he outright tried to murder me. He'd tried passive ways before then and kept threatening me with a bulket that had my name written on it. That night he got angry that my mom watched a movie with me in my room instead of being at his side, so he went off on us. He decided he was going to kill both me and my mom, and was trying to load the gun. We rushed him to stop him from doing so, and it ended up a huge brawl with me on the floor and him strangling me. It lasted a decent while with him trying to get the gun or hurt me as much as possible. My mom switched sides at some point and was holding my arms down so he could choke me. >_> Anyway, I don't remember how I broke free, but I managed to grab the phone and call 911, but just as they answered he tackled me to the floor and smashed the phone to pieces. Luckily he's deathly afraid of cops and was afraid they'd arrive and catch him redhandec so he calmed down. Once the cops got there and saw me and him both bloodied up, they separated us and asked what happened. They chose to believe his story that I just had an attitude problem and things got out of control... So they removed me and my mom from the property and told us not to go back. Instead we went to the magistrate's office and took him with a restraining order and had him removed instead. I thought it was finally over, but she invited him back home like a day later. Then I went right back to basically being a prisoner again. I love my mom dearly, but often we don't get along at all. She always sides with my dad over me every time, which makes me feel worthless. Still she's the only person in the world that I know cares about me, and I need that, so I'm always there for her. I really couldn't care less if my dad lives or dies. He very nearly died early last year, and I felt nothing for him. I felt like a scumbag for not caring, and even though I went to be with him in the hospital, that was for my mom rather than him. Stings pretty badly, but it's also when you know things are getting serious. Fist to the body: 5/10. Hurts, but wasn't anything too bad most of the time. Fist to the face: 8/10. Painful, scary, humiliating. Switch: 6/10. Always hurt, usually not aimed anywhere specific, just a generally being swatted hard by a stick anywhere they could hit. Belt(actual belt part) 7/10. Hurts really badly, never stops with just one or two hits either. Belt(buckle): 10/10. It was always one of those oversized rodeo buckles too. Intense pain and bruising. Seeing him grab the belt was a horror, always a bit of a relief to just get the belt part. Once, after my back injury as a child and I finished physical rehabilitation to learn to walk properly again, he hit me right in the back with the buckle. Put me on the floor and and I couldn't get up, that was scary. Steel handled broom: 4/10. It bent after a few hits and became awkward to swing hard enough to hurt much more. Was more intimidating than painful. Being strangled: 8/10. It hurt, was scary, but put him in position that I got a few punches in on his face while his hands were occupied. So I feel it evened out. Being threatened with a loaded gun in your face: 7/10. By the time it reaches that point, you don't really care any more.
