Lol at saying a belt is a 1/10. Just shows your parents didnt know how to use it effectively. Your ass has too much fat to be used on with a belt they have to aim underneath at the meaty part of the top of your legs.

Open hand on the rear: 3/10.
Sure, it stung and burned a bit afterwards, but it wasn't too bad.

Open hand to the face: 5/10.
Stings pretty badly, but it's also when you know things are getting serious.

Fist to the body: 5/10.

Painful, scary, humiliating.

Always hurt, usually not aimed anywhere specific, just a generally being swatted hard by a stick anywhere they could hit.

Hurts really badly, never stops with just one or two hits either.

It was always one of those oversized rodeo buckles too. Intense pain and bruising. Seeing him grab the belt was a horror, always a bit of a relief to just get the belt part. Once, after my back injury as a child and I finished physical rehabilitation to learn to walk properly again, he hit me right in the back with the buckle. Put me on the floor and and I couldn't get up, that was scary.

Steel handled broom: 4/10.
It bent after a few hits and became awkward to swing hard enough to hurt much more. Was more intimidating than painful.

Being strangled: 8/10.
It hurt, was scary, but put him in position that I got a few punches in on his face while his hands were occupied. So I feel it evened out.

Being threatened with a loaded gun in your face: 7/10.
By the time it reaches that point, you don't really care any more. The only real fear is if he'll turn the gun on your family if you make a move.

Stopped being spanked/switched at about 8/9 I guess. Then it was upgraded to just being beaten. That lasted to my low 20's then stopped after I had to call the cops on my dad when he tried to kill me. He still threatens to kill me, but hasn't done anything in quite a while.
