Why is this happening? It's as if a bunch of people went out in a tightly packed protest without masks for multiple days! But who could possibly be that stupid in the middle of a lockdown? At least the local mayors didn't give their approval while also condemning another group that wasn't partaking in such a thing. That would be foolish and hypocritical.

Probably the most ridiculous thing I've read all week, given that Lovecraft's work isn't edgy and bears little in common with Chuck's stuff. In fact, the only edgy thing is any comment that tries to link the two because even when Chuck is trying to inspire himself by reading Lovecraft's work, he's just one of countless authors to be inspired by the sublime surrealist and Chuck's writing style -- and everything else -- is a lot closer to Dean Koontz.

And Fight Club was an alright movie, but I was never able to get into the book.

It goes like this. People live in an area. Low income people get bused/section 8. Crime goes up, the working folks leave. The area goes to complete shit. Property values drop. 'Creative types' move in because its cheap to live there. Yuppies see this and want the 'authenticity' and start to buy up the properties. The poor people who lived there can no longer live there and get moved/section 8 to an area outside the city. The once 'vibrant' area becomes a sterile zone of coffee shops, clothing stores, and chain retail.

Happened to NYC and SF. Is happening to Oakland. As property values increase in the Bay Area the poorer areas are being overran. About ten years ago the city of Antioch had a large section of its city set up for Section 8. That city got filled up with people from Oakland who could no longer afford to live there.

Probably wont happen. Hell futurist where calling for that 30 years ago as being a thing. Meanwhile people are working 50+ hours a week to survive. It might be a thing for yuppies, along with the concept of retirement still being around. But for the working/lower classes the 40 hour week is vanishing just like the concept of a single income supporting household.
