Solid Snake is a rookie in the original MG and was picked because Big Boss didn't think that he would complete the mission. Solid Snake was picked to fail the mission and most likely die.

To my knowledge, this is never really explained but I believe it was because Big Boss didn't like the idea of one of his trained clones running around. Les Enfants Terribles was the reason that Big Boss left the Patriots in the first place. In the unfinished chapter of MGSV, Venom basically leaves Eli to due after the Sahelanthropus is destroyed so BB probably assumes that Eli died. Sending in Solid Snake to die in the Outer Heaven Uprising just ties up some loose ends. I don't think he ever really wanted to fight him. He just didn't have a choice at the end of MG2. My personal take on it at least.

3. What was the point of Venom Snake? I understand that he's going to build up Diamond Dogs while Big Boss builds Outer Heaven but it just seems.... dumb as hell.

The idea of the two Big Bosses was actually Zero's idea although the purpose of it was never really explained either. I think it was meant to expand the legend of Big Boss. Venom and Diamond Dogs were meant to distract the world from Big Boss and the development of Outer Heaven.

In a hostage situation they need to be less trigger happy, not more. In a hostage situation, he risked shooting a hostage and scaring the hostage-taker in to killing the rest. The officer was criminally negligent in a delicate situation.

What exactly are you having difficulty with? Involuntary manslaughter is "the unintentional killing that results from recklessness or criminal negligence, or from an unlawful act that is a misdemeanor or low-level felony."

Calling the police to report a murder and fake hostage situation = reckless, negligent and unlawful act
Andrew Finch = dead as a result of reckless, negligent and unlawful act
Death + reckless, negligent and unlawful act = involuntary manslaughter

How you can see that the officer was criminally negligent but can't grasp how the two kids are also responsible is mind boggling.

My only real gripe is that it's tied into the Marvel Universe so if you haven't watched some of the other movies, you're already behind. I decided to randomly pop it in one day and was wondering why the hell NYC had been torn apart and how Peter Parker already knew Tony Stark. Had to go back and watch The Avengers and Civil War to catch up to the storyline.

My only problem with DACA is that there's no real path to citizenship or permanent residency. Their status is always in limbo. It's not as easy as "just becoming a citizen" as a lot of people seem to think.

Maybe not fired but definitely retrained at the very least.. A federal agent and military veteran should know not to put your finger on the trigger unless you intent to shoot. A person with common sense would also know not to do a backflip while you have a weapon holstered.
