32. The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening: Braving Tal Tal Heights Nominated By: Mega Mana
Tal Tal Heights is always nice. I like the original chiptune version a lot more though, the new samples don't really do it for me. It doesn't change much besides the samples so not much to say here.
31. Halo: Reach: In Amber Clad - Halo: Reach: We Remember Nominated By: Kanzaris
This song isn't particularly memorable, but it's still nice to listen to. Has a decent beat going on and doesn't do anything to sabotage itself. I am perfectly fine with songs like this.
Ace Combat 6: Grace Like Rain - Liberation of Gracemeria BlazBlue: Gluttony Fang Live Donkey Kong Country 2 - Castle Crescendo (by Sole Signal) Donkey Kong Country 2: Lockjaw's Saga Doom: Hangarmaggeddon Dynamite Headdy: Waterflame - Schuhmacher Fly Remix Etrian Odyssey 3: Hoist the Sword with Pride in the Heart (Ayahuasca arrangement) Final Fantasy VI: housethegrate - Seized with Fury Halo: Reach: In Amber Clad - Halo: Reach: We Remember Higurashi no Naku Koro ni: Sorayume (vocal) Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep: NemesisTheory - Mysterious Sleeper L.E.D.: Hyper Boundary Gate (Slow Flow Mix) Mega Man 2: S.S.H. -Dr. Wily- Mega Man Zero 4: Esperanto (Remastered Tracks Rockman Zero Mythos) Pictionary: Person, Place, or Groove (The Orichalcon) Pokemon RBY: Pokémon Gym (2) Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow: -The Road to Cerulean City- From Mt. I did. I don't think you understand the kind of effect ranking this many songs causes on your mind. Music...get hazy.
Plus, this makes the list more fun for everyone. I don't have to take a week to discover how I 100% feel about songs, and you guys get live commentary of my shifting opinions. Everyone wins!
But hey! I think these guitars are in a lot more control than some of the others, and there are sections where the guitars are even subdued. Shocking, I know.
Stats once we hit Page 4 so this page doesn't get clogged.
36. Phantasmagoria of Flower View: Spring Lane ~ Colorful Path (WAVE) Nominated By: Drakeryn
This song isn't bad. I like some of the stuff it does, and it doesn't do anything I really dislike.
I can finally start saying that!
35. Donkey Kong Country 2: Protricity - Brambles in the B Nominated By: pjbasis
I think this topic managed to net me a remix of every major popular song that I either dislike or don't particularly care for. Time Circuits, Stickerbrush Symphony, X vs. Zero, Terra...you guys totally did this on purpose.
The song still isn't bad though, and it doesn't do anything I really dislike. Aw yeah, I got to say that twice in one update.
One writeup for all of them, because I feel the same about each one. WazzupGenius gave me some interesting tracks. Each one takes a simple NES track and goes nuts on it, mixing in new, modern samples and messing with the melody. I think each of these tracks are really neat, and I can tell that the remixer is pretty talented.
So why are they so 'low'? Well, like many other remixes, they just couldn't keep it in their pants. The line between 'crazy but cool' and 'I have a headache' is thin, and these songs cross over that line too many times; I'm not usually a fun of chiptunes doing too much. If they were just toned down a bit in certain parts, I would like them a lot more. Still cool though.
This is a decent rendition of Lavender Town's theme. The big problem being that Lavender Town is an extremely simple song that doesn't have much to work with, leaving the remixer to either make new material that will probably suck or just make it repetitive. He chose repetitive.
Only one song in this update because next one is a triple threat special !!!
42. Higurashi no Naku Koro ni: You/thanks Nominated By: dethfdddddh
I love You, and it's pretty impossible to actually make a bad remix of You, but I don't think this one is that great. The singer isn't very good (someone will come in and tell me it's the same singer who did the original vocal version, but even if it is, it sounds a lot worse) and the melody is dragged out for way too long. There's a lot of 'filler' in this song. It's still you, so it's still alright, but I've heard way better remixes of it.
41. Super Mario Galaxy 2: CarboHydroM - Nemesis Nominated By: pjbasis
This is a straight-up guitar cover of the SMG2 final boss theme. It doesn't take any risks and doesn't go overboard with the guitars, so I don't have any complaints about it. At the same time, I don't particularly care for it.
We're getting to the point where these writeups are getting harder. The songs don't really bug me anymore, they're just...there. Take this song, for example. Is it offensive? No. Do I remember what it sounds like after listening to it? Also no.
43. Solstice: Title - Kastle Rock Nominated By: Kanzaris
Ah, the Solstice theme. I can't help but smile every time I hear it; it's just nuts. I prefer this version over the other version because wailing guitars is easier for me to take than wailing chiptunes.
Apologize for the delay, but a 5.5 song got bumped up to 6 after I was relistening and I had to reorganize.
48. Streets of Rage 3: Streets of Rage Remake - Moon Nominated By: Kanzaris
Is a weird, sorta-funky sorta-atmospheric song. It's not great but it's slightly more interesting than other stuff that was nominated, so it gets put in the next tier and gets to laugh at all the 5/10 losers and steal their lunch money.
47. Rockman World 2: Magnet Man Nominated By: Niorapth
This is slightly better than the other guitar songs. Hence why it's in 5.5/10 instead of 5/10, as these ratings are ironclad and not subject to whatever mood I'm in at the time whatsoever.
I've moved one song up from 8/10 to 8.5/10, which mean a clear winner has been decided (was flip-flopping on it before). What song was it? Who nominated it? Does it have guitars? All will be revealed on the next episode of Dragonball Z!
Ace Combat 6: Grace Like Rain - Liberation of Gracemeria BlazBlue: Gluttony Fang Live Contra: Alien Lair Donkey Kong Country 2 - Castle Crescendo (by Sole Signal) Donkey Kong Country 2: Lockjaw's Saga Donkey Kong Country 2: Protricity - Brambles in the B Doom: Hangarmaggeddon Dynamite Headdy: Waterflame - Schuhmacher Fly Remix Etrian Odyssey 3: Hoist the Sword with Pride in the Heart (Ayahuasca arrangement) Etrian Odyssey 3: The End of the Raging Waves (Ayahuasca arrangement) Final Fantasy VI: housethegrate - Seized with Fury Final Fantasy X: Battle with Seymour (Black Mages) Halo: Reach: In Amber Clad - Halo: Reach: We Remember Higurashi no Naku Koro ni: Sorayume (vocal) Higurashi no Naku Koro ni: You/thanks Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep: NemesisTheory - Mysterious Sleeper L.E.D.: Hyper Boundary Gate (Slow Flow Mix) Mega Man 2: S.S.H. -Dr. Wily- Mega Man Zero 4: Esperanto (Remastered Tracks Rockman Zero Mythos) Myth - The Xenogears Orchestral Album - Small Two of Pieces Phantasmagoria of Flower View: Spring Lane ~ Colorful Path (WAVE) Pictionary: Person, Place, or Groove (The Orichalcon) Pokemon R/B/Y - Clairvoyant Eulogy (The Orichalcon) Pokemon RBY: Pokémon Gym (2) Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow: -The Road to Cerulean City- From Mt. 50. Final Fantasy X: Song of Prayer (Jared Hudson - The Final Summoning) Nominated By: Drakeryn
This is sort neat, but I wonder if I would care about it if the prayers of the Fayth hymn didn't bring back fond memories of FFX. It doesn't seem to be memorable at all, otherwise.
49. Mega Man X5: X vs Zero Decisive Battle 2 Nominated By: BK_Sheikah00
I'm not a fan of the original X vs. Zero at all, so I'm actually kind of glad the remixer ripped out that terrible chiming sample that plays through it and stuck in guitars. Better than the original; I still don't like it very much.
That's it for the 5/10s. Will post stats, and then the topic will resume later tonight.
52. Super Metroid - Zebesian Midnight (Vigilante) Nominated By: Kaxon
zzzzzzzzzzzz
51. Earthbound: Twoson Hits the Road Nominated By: todbot
Basically the only reason this is this high is because of my Earthbound bias. It's completely unmemorable outside of a few EB song notes I recognize and like, which on this list is apparently worth being better than almost half the songs.
This song is hard to describe. It feels very...directionless, having cool effects for the sake of having cool effects, if that makes sense. It's not really my style of song, either, some of the samples it uses are kind of annoying. It has some cool moments, but overall it just doesn't stick with me after it's finished playing.
I think I'm pretty easy to please. My overall average for the topic was a 5.17, which is higher than Ed's at least. I just write some harsh writeups because this topic would be boring otherwise. Unless you want to read want to read 50 writeups of "This is okay".
56. Mega Man 9: Splash Blue Arranged vs Linkin Park and Jay-z Encore / Numb Acapella Smooth Subtle Nominated By: Justin
This remix.
To start off, I don't like rap, I don't like Linkin Park, and I don't like any rendition of Splash Woman's theme that I've heard. The fact that I sorta like this mashup is something I don't understand in the slightest. It's just...an experience. I appreciate songs like this more than many of the songs above it, because even if I don't technically like it more, it was a lot more interesting to listen to.
55. Sonic the Hedgehog 2: Travelling Through a Dream Nominated By: Mega Mana
This is alright. It doesn't particularly do anything to set itself apart, but it didn't do anything to offend me, either. I give it a C.
Now I'm imagining Sonic in high school. That would not turn out well.
That's it for now. Check back later, same topic, same guitars.
58. Persona 3, Katamari Damacy: The Katamari for Everyone's Souls Nominated By: Kleenex
We are moved to tears by the size of this remix.
Mashed-up by our very own Ed Bellis, The Katamari for Everyone's Souls is an odd duck. There are some parts of it where the songs match up shockingly well, and those parts are pretty cool. Actually, in general, the songs work as good complements to each other.
When you get past 'in general', you run into a problem; namely, the original Katamari song being extremely hectic and having a million things going on. It wasn't really meant to be mashed up with anything. BFES isn't a particularly mellow song either, so there are times when the two songs are just fighting over supremacy of the mashup, and it breaks the rhythm of the whole thing.
In short, this song is equal parts bad and good, hence the rating. Above all else, it's neat, and I'm glad it exists.
This is another remix that is barely a remix. Scars of Time (at least i think it's Scars, it could be Time of the Dreamwatch or Dreams of the Shore, but it does it really matter?) is absolutely dominated by the trance in this thing; for the first 1:20, there is nothing that even remotely sounds like anything related to Chrono Cross. The song improves a bit when the CC notes start playing, but even then it just sounds like generic trance with CC notes thrown in the middle. That is still better than 39 items on this list.
60. Chrono Cross: A dream to watch of chrono Nominated By: Niorapth
Much like other entries on this one, this falls under 'okay but I liked the original a lot more'. The melody is very similar to Time of the Dreamwatch, but the samples aren't as good and the notes are very...awkward. There are a lot of parts where I felt like the remixer was just messing with the notes so it wouldn't be so similar to the original, and didn't work out so well. Every part that's different from the original sounds worse. Also that flute can be really intrusive heh heh heh
No seriously it is.
59. Final Fantasy 7: Short Skirts (djpretzel and Vigilante) Nominated By: Kaxon
This one was just kinda boring. I'm not familiar with Tifa's theme so I can't make that sort of comparison, so it's basically an original song to me, and as an original song it just doesn't do anything.
61. Mega Man X: Braincooler Nominated By: Mega Mana
I think this is a remix of the Chill Penguin stage. Chill Penguin isn't a very good song to begin with, and this remix doesn't change much, so it stays at about the same quality. Not much to say here.
Got a bit of time. Let's start up the next section. 5/10 and 5.5/10 are the biggest by far because, surprise surprise, most songs that people nominated weren't that memorable !
I'm posting this in a place where I can't listen to music, and I don't remember this song too well. I do remember that it tried to do way too much and just annoyed me at times, so there's that.
63. Skies of Arcadia: Horteka Stomp Nominated By: Mega Mana
I appreciate what this song is trying to do, but I just prefer the original Ixa'taka way more. It had a stronger melody, much better samples, and was much easier to listen to. This one...it's creative, but OCRemix has major problems with being too 'creative' with songs.
Yeah I'll add you later but I'm completely done with Demon Souls so don't expect to summon me anytime soon.
Then back in the Nexus I checked a bloodstain and thought to myself 'man I could totally survive that fall' and it turned out I totally couldn't. I really need to stop doing that when I'm in human form.
The best. I think a lot of people's first legit death (like mine) in Demon's Souls is jumping off the top of the Nexus to see what would happen. I see more bloodstains there than anywhere else in the game.

This song does a few interesting things, but mostly it's just guitar overload. Too tired to describe it in more detail. Probably should have been lower.
65. Touhou Ten Desires: The Gracious Deity's Metamorphosis Nominated by: todbot
This song is kind of an ear worm. Part of it are catchy but parts of it are also very annoying. I think if it took out the 'gimmicks' I would actually like it a lot more.
4.5/10 is done! Taking a break for now, and by for now I mean the next 14 hours. I'll compile some stats to leave here and will resume tomorrow.
69. Final Fantasy VI: Terra in Black (by Ailsean, from Overclocked Remix) Nominated by: Ed Bellis
Ed only nominated this because he knows I don't like Terra. Yeah I don't like Time Circuits OR Terra, you want to make something of it? I thought so. Nerd.
This version is better than the original Terra, which tends to happen when you take a poor song and change all of its samples to non-intrusive guitars. Non-intrusive guitars? In my topic? It's more likely than you think.
Also, two down in a row Ed WHAT NOW.
68. Touhou: Bad Apple!! 8 Bit Nominated by: lefty
I liked Bad Apple better when it wasn't 8-Bit. It just sort of annoys me, now.
Actually, now that I can give it its own time, I probably ranked it too low. That song might be the only rendition of Time Circuits I've heard that I actually sorta like. Holy crap.
You guys aren't obligated to keep up with me! Go at your own pace. I just like doing these topics fast. I don't care for dragging them out like some people.
71. Chrono Trigger: Corridors Of Time (Zeal Theme) by Prodecuer Karitsu Nominated by: Jeff Zero
For what it's worth, I like this rendition of Time Circuits more than the original!
70. Zwei!! - Demon King Vespar (by Falcom Sound Team jdk, from zwei!! SUPER ARRANGE VERSION) Nominated by: Ed Bellis
I wasn't that fond of the original Demon Vespar, although I did like it. I think this remix is worse. It loses everything that made Demon Vespar sort of unique and makes it pretty generic and not very interesting to listen to. The samples are a little more annoying, and the song doesn't give you any room to breathe; something is always playing. Some songs pull that off just fine, but this just seems cluttered.
