Also they have an Office 365 security policy that won't allow for non web-app Outlook, so I can only get my emails from the web app and not the actual Outlook application.

They are old school pro's at analyzing BOM (Bill of Material) costs for the Auto industry & finding out supplier parts costs at mass once the vehicle is literally dissected part for part.

They then go through their giant data base, assemble the Total BOM costs, and make giant analysis reports.

It's pretty standard within the Automotive industry to be hired to tear down the oppositions vehicles and find out the costs / design advantages of each model.

He literally has access to large databases for how much each part costs in mass volume for manufacturing.

But that doesn't change Tesla's number other issues.

Like having Manufacturing near Silicon Valley in Freemont.

That's ridiculously expensive compared to picking a cheaper place within the US to manufacture.

And they still have to make the Tesla Model S & X & old Roadster for the few folks who want that thing.

Don't forget that they're part way through the ramping up of the Tesla Semi-Truck.

And have to pay for R&D for the new Tesla Model Y (Pickup Truck).

This is also not counting the Joint Battery Production plant that has to keep on improving

The UHI would be like a "Nationalized Health Utility" that you pay into monthly for Insurance purposes.

This gives the UHI ultimate leverage against Big Pharma, Hospitals, etc and prevents them from over charging since we will control 99% of funding against them.

We'll finally be able to put the squeeze on them, re-write all regulations & conditions in the consumers favor.

1) Windows 10 is a laughing stock and is run without any real testing staff.

Satya Nadella, the current CEO instituted a big change of firing manual QA testing or converting any of the advanced SDET's (Software Developer in Engineering & Testing) into just normal Dev's.
All Public Alpha is supposed to get most of the bugs and they are supposed to fix most of it.
Then the public (You & I) are glorified Beta testers.

2) The Surface division & Windows team aren't on the best of terms.
They're kind of adversarial to some degree so there isn't much cohesion there

3) Surface is one of the few Bright Spotlights in MS's financial portfolio, so they're kind of like the favored child, ergo pissing off some of the other divisions for some reason.

4) A lot of Surfaces technology is proprietary to some degree.
The Pogo pins for the Type Cover, that's proprietary.
The entire hardware for Surface is completely original and designed by MS.
But normally with prices so high, there are only X amount of testers to feed back bugs.
And not many people feed back bugs (< 10% of consumers).

So it's a complete & utter shit show "In Some Regards".

In some cases, Surface is spectacular; in other cases, it's a complete dumpster fire.

But for the most part, it works well enough for most consumers and excels & leads in many areas that other PC vendors weren't willing to tackle.

e.g. The Screen being as awesome as it is.

It's a little reductionist to ignore the context of that spending. U.S. foreign policy since WW2 has always been forward deployment to keep conflict off our soil.

We subsidize the defense of all of our allies, and with that came a lot of geopolitical leverage in terms of a world order. The middle east aside, there hasn't been large-scale conventional warfare between super powers since. And that's because of a global presence.

Also, the costs are reflective of the fact that we can't exactly outsource a military. We're paying U.S. prices, if that makes sense. Can't exactly buy tech and arms from China or Russia. Can't sell yours either unless you want it reverse engineered.

I don't agree with the practice in its entirety because there definitely are players who stand to benefit from that status quo, but it's easy to criticize in a time of relative peace.

If we didn't spend that money at this point in time, it would leave a massive power vacuum and that seems a little scary and unstable, tbh.

Major 1st World Countries who need it and are in a dangerous position like Japan, sure.

But most of Europe, we can literally take our stuff and let Europe defend itself from Russia and what not.

They'll need to get off their collective butts and put in some real money for defense for once.
