Happy new year to you too! I'm never 100% sure how that list really works amongst the voters. Nancy seemed to have a relatively quiet year, so I'm not sure how that one happened. But without question she's been a standout visual from the start more so when not in the goofy attire MLD threw at her. Interesting picks to me at least within the K-Pop sphere were: ITZY Chae She's been on this list, and I think rightfully so, but I'm a little surprised Yuna wasn't on that list at all, but maybe my eyes are just missing something. Also interesting that her sister is nowhere to be seen. LSF Kazuha I think she does deserve this kind of recognition. It seems for the most part she's got the most minimal changes in stage looks because what she's got already goes a long way. XG Harvey XG usually makes her look (and sound) weird, but she's definitely had better looks in her previous years modeling. It's cool she still makes this list. I'm kinda being a snob, but I don't know about influencers being on this list. Technically there is no such restriction but while I can respect that they do their own grind to make a living (and in all fairness are also attractive in their own right), it's just a different line of work from actual professional modeling/acting/music, etc. There is of course the dark subject of how many or few names on that list are actually 100% natural, but this is a very subjective list and it's a weird superficial room for outright judgement. The video sorta lacks a visual direction but makes for a decent performance/choreography video. Chaeryeong taking over more of a track actually turned out well imo. The image as a quartet has been decent. Yuna Yuna improving her vocals. Building her into a solo act has some potential, and it stings me to say... Don't-Like: Realistically Yuna is nowhere close to Jennie in terms of vocals. I know it's not a contest, but I think when you cover a song, you kinda challenge the original. Pretty certain this was lip-synced as well. A veteran group member in the game doing a cover like this doesn't sit right to me. I feel like this is more for rookies at like...K-Con. At most I wouldn't have let it be a song outside of JYP. They really ran out of ways to use stage time? Seemed like the whole Gayo Daejeon event sat weird. Pumped in audience sounds and only lights filling the upper deck. Stray Kids were smooth with that production F up. Otherwise, Christmas Monday, literally. 4th award show, and some artists I imagine have the same schedule, but they keep coming with it. To have a 5-song stage seems heavy but I kinda see this as the purpose of having the short run times in their album. It's an impressive strategy in the product and quite frankly everything they released as far as official main tracks (not collaborations - though I was cool with "Zero") was very well received. This would be a hard year to repeat, but it wouldn't be a disappointment if it doesn't go this way again. Netting a what could be their peak a very high peak early on is something anyone could only live once for. There's room to create a new era in their creative style, and try to capture the same success that way. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EgCugIedhBU I know they did have a stage for "The Hydra", but I'm not sure I'm feeling it here with "Burn the Bridge". Overall I think I was liking the Antifragile campaign more than Unforgiven. There was a bit of redundancy to me, and some questions to how much Sakura and Kazuha can handle their vocals. I don't think there's much room for backtrack schemes with the current field of talent. However, I don't think there was any drop in production quality. I almost would be disappointed if a track from the "Get Up" album somehow won this. A lot of artists can produce a good winter track, but this one was just as strong as a summer track imo. Mix of an accurately "cold" tone, vocal showcase, and lyrical concept that builds upon where the members realistically are in their lives made for a pretty pure release that no one could come close to matching. The video production and extra work around that concept in itself was done insanely well. There's a sound to it. I tend to get lost with her M/V plots and lyrical concepts. Certainly a fair share of concepts aren't all that relatable for the intended audience, personal elements are of course a major component of musical art, but I think the audience is left to question how much of this is substantiated to the point it warrants being the focal point of the content. I'm definitely more into their R&B sound, but the work they put into this single doesn't go unnoticed, and it will have a bigger say on longevity, and it's cooler when an artist does their own thing (although of course that can sometimes be a miss). I think at this point they can drop a Japanese track.
