Yes quite possibly, and that should be doable.

Not that I think this is the reason the government doesn't do that, some of the above posts point that out, but I think it shoudl be noted that some people may not want such IDs in the first place. I don't think it should be mandatory.

The free part, I could go for that. You want one, go get it, fed pays for it. But it automatically being sent to us, like we just get it in the mail and we have the ID automatically, nah.

I'm not worried. Release dates are almost always secret betas these days. In one or two years, I'll pick it up at half price with a few expansion packs and almost no bugs. Plenty of other games to play in the interim.

It always felt like a hassle trying to get it to install right and then you have to figure out how to patch it which was an even bigger hassle. Plus you have to deal with the guilt of the developers not getting money.

Sometimes it's the exact opposite. Between all the DRM or possibly old launcher or something, can't get a game setup. But someone puts up a pirate version that bypasses everything.
