I think only reason to get BFG is if you like controller support like me. Otherwise, original seems to have way better mod support. I would look up on youtube some of the good campaign overhauls, that tweak the gameplay.

There are definitely terrible systematic circumstances that set up people for failure off the bat. But there is also a mental aspect to it as well which I noticed with my parents. And it doesnt change when they start making more money. My dad worked his way from a warehouse worker to a VP to a business owner. And yet we always felt poor because who tf knows where all the money he was making went. I didnt know anything about investing or saving while growing up. You get money, you spend money is how I was raised. Everyone in my family maxes out their credit card and lives in perpetual debt. If I hadnt met my husband who helped me learn to make better financial decisions, I would be the same (I was already 14k in credit card debt when I met him at 25). Now both my parents are poor with no retirement savings whatsoever. And I just know I dont want that to be me.

This is how I've been my whole life, just turned 27, definitely how my parents are. So tired of that way of living.

It's not about being negative. It's about understanding that some poor people can't just afford to go take a $250 test to work their way out of being poor. There are levels to being poor. There's living at or around the poverty line and then there's having to feed your family on a food budget of $40 per week or something like that.

All of those people have a path. Some are harder. My situation is fucked up right now, but there's still a path.

Now let's say I get laid off or something? Yeah, that would fuck me up big time, as I'm already in the hole. But there'd be nothing for me to do but keep moving forward. Maybe I'd have to go bankrupt, but then it would just be onto the next step. What can I do now?

I don't see people in this topic being realistic. I see users who think poor people are just stuck forever and that any advice for them is faulty because they "are just tryin to survive".

This is a good standard to set the more I think about it. Like, tutorials on youtube could be an amazing educational tool, and they are, except often the creator will have an intro that is way too long. It's just ridiculous. We are clicking what is supposed to be instant content, the content should start instantly.

I'm poor as fuck right now due to some ongoing issues. I have a negative bank account and a balance to pay on my credit card. Right now fucking sucks. Can barely do any activities with my girl, need to get my tires changed cause theyre about to fucking explode while im driving. I am going to be late on my rent. After I get food that's all I have, at least I have that.

But, if I just say "fuck your philosophy/advice, im just worried about surviving" I am literally never going to get out of this shit. Cause, it's a losers mentality. And I've been losing and I don't want to anymore. Right now I am just surviving, but I want to move forward from this, I need the ways to dig myself out (I already know my personal path). So, this advice doesn't trigger me in the same way it did to some of the other users here.

Now all that being said, looking at this quote, I am wondering how to make that transition, when my thought process is "I need to pay these bills to barely make it this month." So, I am still stuck on the "poor philosophy". But, I'm intrigued by the quote and open to learning more.

Healthcare was always his biggest problem, so something like Covid was a perfect storm to get rid of him. I do think without that, and after failing to remove him from the obstruction and collusion investigations, he definitely would have won, probably by a large margin.

You are right. Since Oblivion it has been transitioning to more "game systems" based gameplay, rather than RPG choices. I want them to do both, not just one or the other. Oblivion and Skyrim are a blast, theyre still immersive, but as far as their quests, they pale.

This is absolutely correct. Morrowind and New Vegas are legendary. I like Fallout 3 very much also, but it's probably a bit closer to Oblivion/Skyrim.

Yeah, Covenant really let both these movies down for me. When I saw Promoetheus, I liked it, but only on the promise of more. When that more came and was disappointing, I didn't like either movie.

I mean, it's fine if it's not your thing. But for me as a kid, I always wanted a more open rpg, where I could create my own character and roleplay.

Did that really happen? I would have absolutely loved to see that. The conference I mentioned had a video on youtube, but sometime this year it dissapeard, its not on youtube anymore. I have the 30 second clip though, I saved it on my harddrive befoe it went down. If anyone really wants to see it I could put it on google drive or something. But yeah, I love that story, I hope it didn't affect his life too much, like he was getting letters addressed with that name lol.

To add onto all this, I follow casting calls and things like that. I saw on a group I follow "G4 casting for bringing back network" a few months ago. I did email to try and audition, but they never got back to me :(

To my 13 year old mind, I was hoping he would mention it on the show. He never did. But it stayed on there until like, 2012.

But, years later in 2013, he's at some conference and someone says "Tell us about your middle name!" and he goes "It's MICHAEL! On Wikipedia it says my name is Donovan, I would have killed my parents for giving me the name of a folk singer from the 60s. Adam Michael Sessler."

A lot of people like it more than DOOM but I agree with you. What I like doing is playing original Doom vanilla, then playing Doom II with the Brutal Doom mod. Makes it feel like a real sequel

There are HD and UHD versions of the 1977 film available, painstakingly constructed by fans of the films, for other fans. I recommend you seek them out.

Only played the Bungie 5. I think they all have great levels individually. Reach probably has the best story, 2 and 3 probably have the best most epic levels and gameplay moments.

Programming genius comes up with a great way to play Smash Melee online, spends years working on it gives it to community. Requires emulation but everyone loves it. As soon as a big tournament tries to use it because of covid, Nintendo shuts them down cause emulation. They're basically killing the Melee community cause Melee before relied on in person tournaments, so this is the only way to have a legitimate Melee tourny, and Nintendo is killing it.
