Don't know why you talked about it with her. What was it gonna do for you other than strain your relationship? You say "This is important, we may be headed to war.".... and? How old is your mom? 45 at least, if not much older? Wtf is she gonna do in a war? Nothing. So why does she need to know how important it is? She doesn't.

The relationship with your mom is more important than her being a dumbass. She's a dumbass, so I would start treating her like one and not talk about things with her that she knows nothing about, nod your head and change the subject. She obviously doesn't have an interest in you educating her.

I spend an awful lot of time explaining to my rather dumb parents how to (roughly) verify what they think they might believe.

My mom is classic heart-over-brain dumb, so I need to let her be pissy about something without harping on her about it, and then when she's vented, I can ask her why she believes what she believes. I've been able to keep her from falling into the trump trap, with two close calls.

Pacing is good, well done. That's a step most people don't take.

Same! What started this was she sent me a video of some dude talking in his car I turned off after 40 second because he mentioned Bible prophecies twice. She said her friend sent it to her and claims Trump will use the emergency broadcast system to declare martial law in 3 days (obviously that didnt happen) and I'm like "who the fuck is this and why are you listening to him?" "Oh I think he's a preacher or something I dont know". Didnt even known his fucking name and shes worked up at 1:30am over his bullshit. My parents were obsessed with CNN every day all year, and I finally just told them to cut it off entirely., because they can't change what's happening on it, and knowing all these horrible things aren't making their lives better. They're 70 years old with health problems, they don't need the stress on top of that. I don't get in arguments about politics with them ever. My brother does, however. And he never convinces them, cause he's just constantly trying to show them how wrong they are, and it never works.

I talk with my parents about nice things, not politics. SO I would not try to prove that crazy shit she's watching wrong, cause it won't work. Instead, espouse the virtues of unplugging from all that bs.

I remember seeing my brother look up cheat codes on our family computer. Gamefaqs really seemed to be the premiere site for cheats and guides during Ps1/N64 and XBX/PS2 eras respectively.

Can't remember what the first game we looked up was. Probably something for n64. And I remember seeing an advertisement for Vice City and it blew my mind that I was learning about a new game through a computer website. This was all just from watching when I was probably about 6 or 7.

Then I got on the boards to talk about Fable, which I loved at the time. My first account was from 2006. Can't remember what I did with it. I think I had it banned somehow but idk how.

Once AAA publishers know they have a good idea, they hold off and do not allow their developers to do it. Why release a good idea now when you can guarantee money later by releasing it then. This is what they do, and they will hold game design back for as long as they can in order to maximize profit.

That's why there hasn't been very many meaningful leaps in terms of game design in since the early 2000s. AAA has improved multiplayer, and graphics, but not much else. Game design has only pushed truly pushed forward in the indie space.

So it isn't that they lack the skill to make great ideas; but that they are intentionally not doing so. High end developers are held back by their publishers.

That's pretty weird, but it at least seems like they are trying to steer it somewhat back to where the story was from the first four games, so that's good at least. Hopefully it will bode well for the next game, although they should have done that years ago

I got the entire rest of the series on sale for $118 before this one came out, so at that price I'm gonna be waiting quite awhile before I get this one.
