So Witcher 3 has proven itself to be plenty legit, but not getting a rally from CD Projekt Red has been one of the biggest blue balls in contest history too. We've talked about it for five years it seems like, they alluded to being open to rallying in the last Character Battle if they were notified sooner, and then today on the day of the championship when they were the major underdog that was impressing on its own anyway...they have somebody on their staff like something on Twitter and their FB page makes an unrelated sale on their game of the year edition of their game.

I'm all for them not rallying, terrific, whatever, but we've had this fear that they can just do it whenever they felt like it and run this contest into the ground...and they didn't. Something about that makes Witcher 3 a star of the contest and turn of the contest at the same time.

I think of the Wii in two distinct periods: pre-SSBB and MKW, and post-SSBB and MKW. After they released, they had a long lull of games and nothing else was as big as the early years on that system.

That Zelda theory sounds good and could prove true in time -- maybe it's becoming that time -- but the NES is Mario's system and I don't think he's giving it up in a SMB1/LoZ-match as long as we still have so many users in their thirties or older here. If we get younger users more involved though, I'd be more inclined to agree.

I'm all for these, but my opinion is if we go here we would only get:

1) Just these two, which would be great as is.

2) Them + Skyrim/FFX and SSBU/FO3.

3) Them + Skyrim/SSBU with no fourth match.

Hopefully we at least get winner VS LoZ:MM -- that is a perfect match with a great thematic time to have it. "Nah, let's wait years to see it" would be a sour result to see instead.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

EVERYBODY IS HERE. They also made great new additions (plus Byleth.....) and the World of Light was a monster of a single player mode. It's a shame the internet connections feel like a step back from the 3DS servers because this is everything else you want from Smash. Give me Banjo-Kazooie and Pac-Mac to goof around with, Mario to repeatedly f-air you down to earth, and Sheik to practice against Bowser until I get my Bouncing Fish on anybody else.

Best-selling fighting game ever too...second time Ryu and Ken have been a part of history like that, kinda neat.
