It actually has some surprisingly mature themes in it, like one of the main characters being unable to cope with the death of his father (~~which he learns through his mother was actually suicide~~) and becoming increasingly reckless because of it, or even a focus on one of the parents cheating on their wife. One of the reasons I originally didn't like the idea of this not being an anthology is because I couldn't see how they could still justify the Goosebumps name and organically work in the original stories, but I was pleasantly surprised with how that's been handled so far. None of them are a straight adaptation, but the way they're worked in are actually pretty effective and don't feel forced; the original takes are pretty interesting in their own right. For example, Cuckoo Clock of Doom starts out with a familiar Groundhog Day-esque plot, but it quickly heads in a different and unexpected direction. --- Heavy weight, one more stone... https://imgur.com/o21DN7r
