Tho it's disappointing none of the office people did much, at least it seems you had an overall positive experience. I feel that other people (especially people here) may think otherwise, but I am very serious about wanting to feel better... my main barrier is a lack of opportunities, and especially ones that could fall anywhere near my comfort zone. This whole thing did cause me a lot of anxiety and was really tough in general, but I went in feeling that the situation would be manageable because of what the place actually was, and I wasn't wrong. I'm sorry that you're not feeling so great... *gives a big, warm and loving hug* That being said, I think what really helped was a reassurance that I could form a positive bond with someone... one of the people staying there spent a lot of time talking with me and everything, and whenever he was having troubles (like with his new medications) I tried helping him out and caring for him in my own way. I think he must have appreciated it, because he gave me hug when he checked out. Ask where the good treatment centers are.The center I went to was pretty LGBT friendly, I feel. I was pretty afraid about what might happen, but I feel as though I caught a lucky break; despite being trans, I was allowed to stay on the women's end of the facility with absolutely no hassle at all. It was a huge relief, x.x That aside, I don't really think I had/have many options, :/ . The kinds of folks you are committed with are super varying to the point where I wonder how the treatment really is. You get a bunch of young people with suicidal ideation and then a bunch of other folks who get yanked up after drug induced psychosis. I don't understand how the same sort of group sessions are supposed to work for everyone.Everyone else where I went was all quite a bit older than I am, x.x . All of them were in their mid-forties or higher, i'd estimate, and oddly enough, we never actually had a group therapy session. Honestly, while I did find the trip helpful, it wasn't for the right reasons... I was told by my therapist that there would be a lot of help always available and that people would always be working with me, but that didn't really happen at all, x.x . I was only talked to once (in a therapy capacity, I mean) for around 40 minutes, and other than that, I basically just spent my time sitting in the living area, not doing much of anything... The thing that I DID find helpful, though, was having the other people there (mostly the other "residents", plus the workers whenever they actually did talk to us) to speak with and spend time with. They were all really nice, and socializing with them and whatnot was what helped raise my mood more than anything.
