No, no. That is not what we've said.

The exact wording of what was said is that it's "worth what someone is willing to pay for it."

If it sells for a lowball price due to one or more parties lacking sufficient market information, that doesn't lower the item's value.

The person who's willing to pay $3.25 million doesn't have to be in the room with the item for said item to be worth $3.25 million. He just has to exist somewhere out there in the market.

Because if you paid $1 for an item worth $3.25 million, you essentially made a deal with a $3,249,999 profit.

Usually, an item is worth the highest price someone will pay for it. If somebody sells/buys it for $1, that doesn't mean it was only worth a dollar. It just means that the right buyer wasn't in the room at the time.

This is why auctions are held, because it gets all the right people in the right room in order to sell an item for what it's actually worth.

Ripping off somebody's grandma clearing out her attic by vastly underpaying for a valuable item doesn't mean the item is worth less, it just means the seller was uninformed as to its true value.

In this case, he's exactly right, though. Value is a subjective quality. An item that's worthless to you ("cardboard") can be worth thousands, if not tens of thousands, to somebody else.

I know you probably wouldn't pay $3.25 million for a bunch of "pieces of paper," but if those pieces of paper were used in 1938 to create Action Comics #1, there are collectors out there who will spend $3.25 million to own them.

In other words, just because you think paper or cardboard is worthless, does not mean they are worthless.

I can't speak for all of them, but I've seen video of at least one guy showing his student ID and trying to walk into the area only to be body-blocked by a couple of other students.

Students cannot tell other students where they're allowed to be. To do so is arrogance personified. You don't suddenly matter more than somebody else just because you're protesting.

Actually, what brought this topic up?

I was talking with my brother. We had a cousin who was big on buying rare Lego pieces back in the late 90s/early 2000s when eBay was first becoming big. Then we talked about Bitcoin and NFTs, because that same cousin has a bunch of Bitcoin.

It started incredibly strong. The finale of season 2 is one of the coolest episodes of television I've ever seen. Sadly, for me, the last season or two kinda fell apart as it was forced to pivot and adjust to "become" Treasure Island without actually getting to tell the coolest parts of the story of Treasure Island.

This is what I miss most about the old internet. I used to have a bunch of different niche websites I'd visit for all sorts of news and info. The internet felt like walking through a city, each website was a different shop with a different vibe and specialty.

Nowadays, I go to Wikipedia for all information about every person, event, or media project ever made. I go to Reddit for news, memes, and discussion about things I enjoy (games, anime, etc.), I go to YouTube for freeform entertainment, I go to Netflix, HBO, etc. (basically all the same site just with different selections) and I come here because...well, it's a habit.

Batman v Superman: Ultimate Edition. I've said it a hundred times in topics like this, and I've only grown to love it more and more over time. Especially with the release of the REAL Justice League movie.

I played it and loved the story, made it about halfway through heavensward when the grind burnout hit. I'm gonna go back to it someday sooner or later, but WoW has been keeping my attention very well lately.

I hear the show is good. It got good reviews.

I haven't watched it myself though.

The best lore becomes more refined over time. Retcons are a natural result of world building over a long period of time.

I don't mind when things change, or are inconsistent, as long as the changes make the story and world better rather than worse.

I (correctly) called out the moderator protests as pointless, if that's what you mean. In the end, they accomplished absolutely nothing. Just like I figured at the beginning.

Infinity War is god-tier, and apart from mishandling the Hulk in the second half, it was nearly perfect.

Endgame was... fine. For a time travel story. It had some strong scenes, and the final act was suitably epic... but killing off Thanos and erasing all his amazing development from the first movie was... certainly a choice.
