The woman who created Barbie wanted girls to be able to have a toy of an adult woman to let them know that their bodies would go through changes when they grew up. And Barbie's varying professions were there as a reminder of the career options they would have. Having a doll that goes through puberty is more or less the essence of Barbie as a concept. It's not there so that grown men can lust after growing doll boobs. It's there so that young girls can accept and embrace the changes their bodies will go through. It's kind of like getting upset at a boy's action figure having swappable heads: one without facial hair and one with. Except nobody gets upset about that. Change is only bad when it happens to the female body. A deepening voice, muscle development, growth of facial hair, and an interest in girls is natural. Breath growth, periods, and an interest in boys is the devil at work. (So is teenagers/young adults growing up to develop interest in the same sex instead pf the opposite.) Politicians will say that this is a doll made for pedophiles. They're really just against anything that normalizes the female growth experience or comfort with one's own body. |

The second movie has more Reagan jokes and Nixon becomes a four-time president seeking a fifth election thanks to Biff. They even took a potshot at a future president in Donald Trump. I gotta say that's pretty fitting of a series that deals with time travel. I feel like there was something in the third movie as well, but I don't remember it if there was. Maybe another Reagan joke. (The third film is the weakest anyway.) But, yeah. In case you missed it, the uneducated, greedy, bigoted bad guys are Republicans. I revisited the trilogy a few weeks ago, but didn't make a topic about it because I wanted to announce a remake starring Brie Larsen and Keke Palmer for April Fool's. Unfortunately, a tornado took out my internet the night before. :( |

This morning, someone didn't feel like taking the detour when a road was blocked off by debris, so they crossed the median instead. I was feet away from a head-on collision. Thank God no one was in the other lane because I had just enough time to swerve. I couldn't even think about it. I just dodged. |
