And if you need any further clarification on the matter, do you even know what the word Hebrew actually means? In the Torah, the word is actually Ivri, like the Hebrew language today is called Ivrit, and the word means someone who passes from place to place, a wanderer if you will. Which of course is a reference to fact that the first Hebrews wandered back and forth between Canaan and Egypt. How all of that got started is up for debate depending on how much if any stock you place on the Torah. But that is irrelevant at the moment.

The most poignant part of this post, and I actually debated reporting you on this, is to make sure the clarification is abundantly clear. To say that modern day Israelis or Jews for that matter cant trace their heritage to the early Hebrews is not only wrong, it is borderline offensive and rejects two thousand years of persecution and hatred that Jews have suffered because we were and are that people.

Israel gives you enough material to justifiably condemn them at this point. No need to make shit up just to further the point.

My opinion is this. We on the left, the Bernie Sanders wing of the party, have had it really good. But a LOT of people on the ONLINE left have been "knives out" for Joe Biden ever since he (HONESTLY, LEGITIMATELY) beat Bernie in the 2020 primary. I see this every day here with how reluctant people are to express any fondness or excitement over Biden's 2024 campaign, it's a "hold your nose & vote for Biden" thing which is really bad.

I think the "Genocide Joe" stuff is dumb and self defeating. As someone who REALLY REALLY wants to push the Democratic party further to the left, I'm BEGGING you to stop with it for these reasons:

1. It doesn't actually hurt Israel's genocide or help Palestinians. All it really does is make you feel good and self righteous about yourself, and signal to other leftists/anti-Zionists that you're part of the clique..

2. It actually hurts Palestinians and leftist causes by making Joe Biden less popular, which increases the odds of Trump getting elected. THIS IS REALLY BAD LIKE THE WORST THING POSSIBLE!!!

3. It makes Biden and the party see us as bad allies, and bad allies deserve less of a seat at the table. If the Democratic party sees leftists as bad allies, they're less likely to cater to us with earnest attempts at M4A, pro-Palestine policy, higher taxes on the rich, etc. In other words when you call him "Genocide Joe" we're biting the hand that feeds us and pushing him to the RIGHT, towards courting Nikki Haley voters.....

We should be firmly in support of Palestinian rights and statehood but we should be a lot smarter about the signals we send. Also we should be more enthusiastic and supportive of Biden in general to make it clear we're reliable allies whose causes are worth fighting for!

And in that case, you should also be anti Hamas. If you are going to say all the things you are for and against like it needs clarifying, then surely that one does as well, given how this current round of fighting got started.

Besides, calling him Genocide Joe is disingenuous. Hes not the reason why 1.5 million people are displaced, and over a hundred people on the other side were kidnapped, not to mention the thousand or so that were murdered on October 7th. Theres a lot of blame to go around, and go pin
this only on him with a nickname like that means that you havent a clue as the politics going on behind the scenes.

Thanks, Captain Obvious. Thats some real insight there. The displacement of millions because their government committed a massacre and took hostages, kind of hard to be worse than that.

Yes, thats true. Which means most adults in Israel have to live their lives with the mindset that they may have to defend their families from Hamas. They have grown up with that mindset, since the first antifada to the second to the withdrawal from Gaza to this, the threat from Hamas is something they have to endure every day.

So there are some conflicting principles here.

1. Every country, last I checked, prioritizes the lives of its citizens over non citizens to some degree.
2. Every country with a moral compass acts when someone else in the world is suffering from some humanitarian crisis.
3. There are other atrocities in the world like Sudan that arent getting nearly the same amount of world wide attention.
4. Israel calls itself a bastion for freedom and democracy in the Middle East, and yet it can not be disputed is at least partially responsible for starving millions of people.

And in this dilemma, we see that Hamas has snared Israel into the perfect trap. Because while it makes perfect sense that the Israeli public would prioritize the safe return of Kfir Bibas and his family as well as all of the other hostages given what happened to them in October.

However, if we take tribalism out of the discussion, it seems ridiculous at this point that Israelis can still point the finger squarely at Hamas as being solely responsible for what has happened in Gaza.

I will tell you that at least in my social circle, friends, family, synagogue, whatever, its becoming harder and harder to hold on to the idea that justice needs to be done for Kfir and the other victims of October 7th, when its clear that justice is also going to need to be done for the children of Gaza. Its clear that both the Israeli government and Hamas have got to go. Just as its true that some Palestinians may be inspired to join Hamas as a result of what Israel
is doing and has done for decades, its also important to recognize that the sentiments in Israel regarding the welfare of the Palestinians is also born of decades of terror attacks as well.

Not trying to justify it. Just trying to explain how we got here.

That being said - I think we really do not have any other choice than to call for a ceasefire, hostages or not. This trap Hamas has set, the Israelis took the bait hook line and sinker.

You dont have an army of space nazis with planet destroying super weapons and city sized capital ships undone because of one little moons shield generator and a bunch of teddy bears helping a small band of rebels. I have no problem with the emperor being on the Death Star. I do have a problem with how the Death Star was defended. And they telegraphed it with your over confidence is your weakness. To each his own. I thought from a casting perspective, a dialogue perspective, and a story telling perspective, they went way too safe. The characters of Kylo and Ren came from the wrong angle, and I dont know what purpose Finn and Poe are actually supposed to serve.

I would have preferred a story where Luke is actually training Han and Leias kid, who is being pulled in a million different directions, and if they really needed to go the mother son route, have Luke fuck up as a teacher and Leia handle the redemption arc as they did. Although, I think it would have been better if Kylo and Rey were simply friends at Lukes academy, Rey can be a nobody, just a force savant as it were, and Kylo hates being second fiddle or something along those lines and gets pulled away from the academy by some OTHER mysterious dark power that isnt Palpatine. And have Luke be forced to learn how to be a better teacher and have him go after his lost apprentice. And if you have to kill him, then have Rey pick up the banner in the 3rd movie after she watches Luke die at the end of the second movie, and whatever lure of the dark side you have pulling Kylo over is revealed. So Rey either has a choice, to try and save her friend who has now killed both his father and uncle, or kill him herself.

Only problem with that idea though, is that is dangerously close to what they did in legends. But at least its a more personal story than the bullshit we got.

And if you notice, Poe and Finn do not fit in my story at all. I actually dont see a need for the rebellion against the empire story at all, and really dont need the massive space battles or intergalactic war at all. That shit was supposed to be done in Episode 6. The dogfighting we would have would be more similar to what we saw in Attack of the Clones with the asteroid field chase. And the whole concept of the first order makes absolutely no sense and exists only to sell merchandise. I dont see why you need a rebel pilot and rogue storm trooper at all. If you are going to make an episode 7 at all, it really shouldnt have been that similar to the originals. I actually like that the prequels tried to stay away from that. Its too bad someone put Gungans and Battle droids in George Lucas head, and forgot to review the dialogue before it was written.

I dont mind the story arc all that much, but I hated the characters, Finn, Poe, Rey, and Kylo..not one of them actually gave me a reason to care.

Its the characters in the sequels that really screwed it up. It doesnt help that the legends books did Jacen Solos fall to the dark side in a much better way than the sequels did. I also think given how bad the sequels are, they made the first one worse.

Also, that we are left connecting the dots between episode 6 and 7 with no idea what the first order is..just lazy.

Even though I am Jewish, the God as depicted in the Torah as far as I am concerned can not exist. I dont consider homosexuality an abomination, I reject slavery, and I find the Torah God to be a bit too human in his emotions to be taken seriously. Plus I often wonder why hed create all of those planets, stars, galaxies, whatever if this is the one he cares about.

That being said. If we accept that matter cant be created or destroyed, then where did the earliest atoms of matter come from, and how did those gases that came together to form the big bang come to be? Thats where my only explanation comes to become in the form of a creator.

Well, I got every achievement in Elden Ring, and never got past the tutorial in Sekiro.

So Elden Ring is a pretty good example of how difficult I want my games. I need different ways to overcome challenge, but I dont care if I have to work for it.

I also soloed Halos 1 2 and 3 on Legendary, but Halo 4 can fuck off with those robot enemies. Shotgunning flood was so much easier, as tedious as it was.
