ABC News Suspends Correspondent Matt Gutman For Violating Company Covid-19 Policy In Hospital Visit

EXCLUSIVE: ABC News chief national correspondent Matt Gutmanhas been suspended for violating a company policy on Covid-19 safety.

A spokesperson for the network declined to comment, as did Gutman.

A source familiar with the situation said that Gutman was suspended for violating company safety rules having to do with going into a hospital for a story without getting permission from management beforehand. It was not immediately clear how long the suspension will last.

Gutman, based in Los Angeles, has done extensive reporting on the Covid-19 crisis, particularly in a city that has been a hotspot for the pandemic. In early January, he reported on hospitals grappling with being able to care for all the rising number of patients, as they sought to also respond to other types of trauma emergencies.

Gutman was suspended last year over a false statement he made on-air in the immediate aftermath of the helicopter crash that killed NBA great Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna and seven other people. In his live report, while details about the crash were still scarce and amid a lot of misinformation on social media, Gutman erroneously said that all four of Bryants daughters had been on board. Gutman later apologized on air and acknowledged the mistake on social media.

Gutman has been with ABC News since 2008, regularly appearing on World News Tonight, 20/20, Good Morning America and Nightline.

Our world is so obsessed with appearances that the simple act of looking in a mirror can be an uncomfortable experience if you don't live up to the (thin, white, cis-gendered, able-bodied) expectation historically set by movies, TV, social media, and even magazines like this one. For those of us with big bodies and rounder bellies ones we're taught to stuff into high-waisted pants or camouflage entirely with big, flowy garments that's a different story entirely. Outside of the internet's fat-positive communities, there's not a lot of genuine love out there for bellies (and I mean love that isn't presented in the attempt to get us to buy stuff). Lizzo's solution? To look directly at her belly, massage it, and tell it all the loving messages it might not get otherwise on a day-to-day basis.

I started talking to my belly this year. Blowing her kisses and showering her with praises, the singer writes on a February 2 Instagram post. In the video, she's wearing nothing but a Savage x Fenty lingerie set and a towel to wrap her hair. I used to want to cut my stomach off I hated it so much. But its literally ME. I am learning to radically love every part of myself. Even if it means talking to myself every morning. This is your sign to love on yourself today!

Lizzo is showcasing an action that a lot of people (myself included) simply don't think to do most of the time: rub, squish, and jiggle her own belly but in an appreciative way. The whole time, she coos words and phrases that we might otherwise reserve for our closest friends and family but rarely (or never) for ourselves. I love you so much. Thank you so much for keeping me happy, for keeping me alive. I'm going to continue to listen to you. You deserve all the space in the world to breathe, expand and contract, and give me life.

It's easy to see our bellies as anything but a part of us; as an excess, something temporary that we might get rid of someday (at least, this is my experience when I'm not feeling top-notch). But Lizzo confronts the reality that her belly is a part of her body and that body is the very thing that sustains her livelihood. It moves with her. It breathes with her. For the whole of her life, her body will be permanent. It's just part of being human.

I won't dare call Lizzo brave for simply existing in the body she has and choosing to love it unconditionally, though that seems to be the reflex for a lot of people. I think this therapeutic practice she shares, however, is extremely smart and will undoubtedly be very helpful to the people who adopt it as part of their routine. Showering your body with love should be seen as less a declaration of body-positivity and more as a basic act of self-care.

Children's Book Author and Her Husband Accused of Severely Abusing Daughter Who Remains in Hospital

A Florida children's author and her husband have been arrested after they allegedly abused their three children.

Jennifer Wolfthal, 41, was arrested on New Year's Day on charges of child neglect with great bodily harm and domestic violence battery. She was arrested after her 8-year-old was found to be suffering from a number of ailments and injuries that authorities allege were not accidental.

Jennifer is the author of children's book A Real Friend, which has since been removed from sale by its publisher.

The writer was arrested after her husband arrived at the hospital with the child, who was suffering from many conditions including pneumonia, a staph infection and liver failure. Authorities say that the girl was also malnourished, had multiple bruises, a skin infection and several open wounds, according to an arrest report obtained by WFTV.

Jennifer bonded out of jail but was arrested again this week on three new charges of false imprisonment of a child under 13, PEOPLE confirms. According to the Orlando Sentinel, the new charges came after investigators interviewed the couple's children, who alleged that they were spanked to the point of bleeding, doused in cold water, and locked in their bedrooms.

The arrest report alleges that the children often went for months without bathing, and were seriously malnourished.

One child allegedly told investigators that her parents "would take turns disciplining them," and would "spank her in the same spot to the point of drawing blood."

The police report says that the children claimed they were punished by being doused with cold water in their beds, and "left to sleep in that condition overnight."

Jennifer's husband, Joseph, was also arrested this week on charges of child neglect with great bodily harm, aggravated child abuse and false imprisonment of a child under 13.

Recently filed divorce documents show the couple adopted the children in 2014, WFTV reports.

Jennifer is being held without bond while Joseph is being held on a $210,000 bond. Neither Jennifer nor Joseph has entered a plea.

Jennifer's lawyer did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment and court records do not reflect an attorney authorized to speak on Joseph's behalf.

Jamie Lynn Spears is mourning the deaths of multiple family cats. The cause? Apparent accidents involving her Tesla.

In a since-deleted video shared to the Zoey 101 star's Instagram Story, via TMZ, Jamie reveals that she's none too happy with the car manufacturer, who she claims is responsible for the deaths of an unspecified number of cats. "I know there's much bigger things going on in the world right now, but somebody's gotta let Elon Musk know that the Tesla is a secret cat killer and it's a problem that we really got to fix," she says in the video. The mom of two goes on to explain that the animals simply can't hear the electric car turn on, leading to some "unfortunate" tragedies, which she chose not to detail.

All she can say about the vehicular accidents is that "it's really devastating and tragic for everyone involved."

But Jamie is not presenting a problem without offering a potential solution.

She suggests that Elon and his team of engineers create a new feature for Teslas that could save pet lovers some heartache.

"Since the Tesla is so quiet, maybe he could like make one of those noises that bothers like cats or animal ears when it cranks up," Jamie proposes.

"That way they know something's happening and they aren't caught off guard and things don't end in a very tragic way."

If that's not a possibility, Jamie is willing to brainstorm some more ideas. She insists, "Elon Musk, let's figure this out. I mean, you owe me a couple cats."

Admittedly, Britney Spears' little sis has to share some of the blame in not keeping a closer eye on her cats. She owns up to her mistakes, stating, "Yes, I'm fully aware that there's some user error involved in this but I'm just saying, you know, let's collaborate to save some cats' lives."

Influencer Glacier Bro presumed dead after waterfall accident was caught on video

Wang Xiangjun, a Chinese environmentalist known as Glacier Bro online, is presumed dead after a waterfall incident in Tibet.

According to Heavy, footage of the incident shows Wang climbing in the area around the base of a glacial waterfall when he loses his balance and falls into icy waters. Local outlet Apple Daily reports that Wangs friends tried to save him when he fell in, but his jacket was heavy in the water, and they were dragged into the swift-flowing river as well. Wangs friends were able to make it back to solid ground, though he was swept away.

The incident took place in Lhari County on Dec. 20, according to reports.

Rescuers are still searching for Wang, though a member of the rescue team quoted by Chinas Global Times newspaper said that it is almost impossible he survived.

On Saturday, a tribute posted to Wangs social media by his brother seemed to confirm his death.

Although the Nook has pretty much disappeared into the background behind the Amazon Kindle, Barnes & Noble remains a well-known name with a fair number of loyal customers.
Those customers, however, may now have something to worry about as the bookseller reached out with some disturbing news. It reveals that its corporate systems fell victim to a cybersecurity attack and that the hackers may have gotten away with some important information about B&Ns customers, potentially including their addresses.

To be clear, no financial information or payment details were pilfered during the attack. These are, Barnes & Noble explains, always encrypted and tokenized. It doesnt, however, discount the possibility that this encrypted data was also stolen, which could still fall prey to attempts at decrypting them.

The company, however, does admit that at least two pieces of customer information were left exposed. Those include users emails and their purchase transactions. The latter could perhaps be used to build a profile of customers while the former could be used for phishing attempts. Whether customers email accounts themselves will be compromised will depend on how strong the security of their emails is.

Hackers may have also gotten away with billing information, which includes the customers shipping address and telephone number if the customer supplied those. While impacted people may not have to worry about their credit cards being used for unauthorized transactions, they will have to be on guard against scams. Needless to say, it might be a good time to change your emails password and activate two-factor authentication (2FA) if you received B&Ns warning.

This incident follows what the company described as a system failure last Monday that affected access to Nook content as well as processing orders at retail stores. Barnes & Noble claims that they were made aware of the security intrusion on October 10 but makes no mention if the two are in any way related.

WESTLAKE VILLAGE (CBSLA) Rebecca Grossman, the co-founder of the famed Grossman Burn Foundation, was out on bail early Thursday after being arrested in connection with a suspected DUI crash that killed two young brothers in Westlake Village.

Grossman, 57, was arrested after the Tuesday night crash and held on $2 million bail, according to Los Angeles County sheriffs officials. Two young brothers were fatally struck in the crash 11-year-old Mark Iskander and 9-year-old Jacob Iskander.

The boys were walking with their family in a crosswalk at the intersection of Triunfo Canyon Road and Saddle Mountain Drive at about 7:10 p.m. Tuesday. One of the parents was able to snatch one of their children off a scooter, and push a stroller out of the way, but Mark and Jacob were fatally struck.

Grossman is a co-founder and chair of the Grossman Burn Foundation, the wife of the foundations president. She has received awards and acclaim for her philanthropy around the world.

Investigators say she was under the influence, speeding and took off after the crash. Her white Mercedes, which had front-end damage, was towed away about a quarter-mile from the crash scene.

According to Los Angeles County sheriffs jail records, Grossman was released just after midnight. She is scheduled to make her first court appearance on Oct. 21.

The city of Westlake Village released a statement that said they share the concerns that residents have about unsafe driving in the area, but wont comment further on the matter until the investigation is complete.

West Hills Hospital also released a statement on behalf of the Grossman Burn Center that said: Like our entire community, the Grossman Burn Center family at West Hills Hospital is terribly saddened by this tragedy. Our sympathies are with all who have been affected.

The Simpsons is a terrible example to use for this. Two guys voice like 50 or so characters between the two of them and have been doing so for over 30 years since the start of the show. That has nothing to do with race that has to do with those two guys are talented as fuck and it probably kept costs down by having them voice so many characters. Since these changes I have no interest in The Simpsons anymore. I refuse to watch Family Guy now to since Mike Henry pussied out in voicing Cleveland now. After hearing the same voice for decades I have no desire to watch these shows if they are going to change for fake outrage pc bullshit.

I just...legitimately don't understand this trend. Voice acting is literally colorblind. Anybody can play anybody. White people voice black people and black people voice white people all the time.

Samurai Jack has been voiced by Phil LaMarr all this time and nobody ever complained.

The problem is this argument mostly helps white people. There were 0 black voice actors on Simpsons even though they have black characters, and the same is true for many shows.

The problem is openly gay actors dont get a fair shake in Hollywood. They can never be leading men and actors are told to stay closeted. So we have straight/closeted actors swooping up most of the gay roles.

The star is known for her appearances on shows like Claws, Scream Queens, and Reno 911!.

"Mrs. Carol Denise Betts," Nash wrote to Twitter. Though she's known popularly as Niecy Nash, the actress's legal name is Carol Denise. She was previously married to Jay Tucker and Don Nash.

In the photo, Nash appears in a wedding gown, having clearly just been wed to Jessica Betts, who also appears in the photo. Betts is a musician. The two had not publicly been known as a couple prior to the post. Nash was not publicly known to be queer either, though she played a lesbian doctor on The Mindy Project in 2014. She notably kissed Mindy Kaling as a part of the role.

Details of the wedding ceremony are not yet known. Betts confirmed the news on Instagram writing "I got a whole wife."

The pair have posted about one another prior. While on the set of Claws, a queer inclusive TNT series Nash led, the pair posted a photo where Nash referred to Betts as her "homegirl." The singer also played the role of Nadege in the series for at least one episode in 2018.

The news makes Nash the latest in the string of high-profile Black, sapphic women with love life updates. Raven-Symone announced her marriage to her wife Miranda Pearman-Maday in June. Da Brat clarified speculation about her sexuality, and confirmed that she was seeing Jesseca Dupart in March.
