Yeah Ty apparently got taken out of the game earlier and wasn't a happy camper, so for whatever reason, whether he was just saying **** you to the coach or trying out of some misguided attempt to prove himself, he disobeyed orders.

You know I've always wondered that, what exactly is the DC/OC's job when the HC decides to take over playcalling? Do they still make the plays themselves, scheme-wise? And it's just the HC's decision on what to use and when? Do they handle subs or anything like that?

So the rumbling was that the reason Hue was on the hot seat was because he was feuding with OC Todd Haley and that the org was worried about it affecting the team. They were going to have to choose.

Well now they fired both Hue AND Haley, so that's one way to get rid of the issue, I guess!

It does not keep merge bonuses if you promote. So if you have five 4* marth, and you really want to get that marth to 5*, you want to promote all five marth to 5* and then merge them.

I don't think I've ever made a worse fantasy decision than having to choose between Diggs and Theilen as the top WR available in my draft and thinking Diggs would be the better option in a non-ppr league.

Don't worry, I was derided in my league for taking thielen over diggs, I think most people thought thielen was a one-hit wonder and that diggs would be the more reliable option. I don't think anyone would have called you crazy for taking diggs.

Who's laughing now, people who mocked me!

Skullbone is correct, super deals mroe dmg to extreme and vice versa. An EXT STR type will do more damage to a SUPER PHY type than a SUPER STR type will.

You'd probably be better off with just a generic STR team that gives universal buffs rather than one with a Ki/Atk buff, if you have one. Like I'd personally take something like a Ki +2, atk/def/hp +50% than I would a Ki +3, Atk +80%.

Rules:
Picks must be in before that game's kick-off. You may, for instance, pick the 1 PM games then come back in another post and pick the rest, but I prefer that when doing so you quote your previous post so it becomes easier for me to keep everything together. All times listed are ET.

You may change picks at any time as long as it's before that game's kick-off, see above rule.

Not really a rule, but please do try to keep your picks in order with how I've posted them, as it also makes it easier on me to plug the picks in. Thank you for your consideration.

If someone has missed 4 consecutive weeks, I am removing them from the roster.

This week's congratulations go to Panthers fans @ZeroSignal620 and myself for a near-perfect 13-1 week! I missed on Washington and Zsig missed on...Carolina. HOW COULD YOU. *ahem*

Anyway, upset of the week, only two matchups had the winner be the lesser picked team, and of those, the bigger spread was against Houston, who only had 5 picks. Carolina had 11. If you went chalk this week, odds are you did good!

Thursday, October 25

The thing though, is that in a salary cap system, it's okay to spend lots. You just can't do it often. IE the rams this year.

And to muse on the patriots some more, in hindsight I really wish the pats hadn't traded garroppolo because he would have been the perfect example of the patriots "out with the old, in with the new" concept that I was talking about. If he had worked out for them and became their new starting QB of the future, that would be a prime example of why the pats are successful.

But now we'll have to wait till the next QB the pats draft to see exactly how much of their success was related to Brady. If the next guy comes in and the pats suck, well then it was mostly brady. If he comes in and they're good, well then brady only played a part of it.

So, I'm late to this, but I want to voice my opinion on the whole salary cap thing.

I would argue that the main benefit of a salary cap isn't that you get competitive balance immediately, it's that you get competitive balance in the long term. The idea of the cap is so that it rewards timing hitting your draft picks with the talent you can acquire with your other cap space in order to be a complete team. You aren't supposed to be able to break away from the pack any given year unless you:

A) Are utilizing players who are vastly underpaid, either willingly, or because they're either on their rookie contract and/or are having a breakout-type year when their previous performance hasn't warranted that kind of money.
B) Spend out the wazoo on free agents/renegotiated or renewed contracts

Once you hit that state of being, where you're one of the best teams in the league in all aspects of the game, you only have a couple of years, if that even, before those players who are in category A start clashing with those in category B. The cap is supposed to prevent a team from being able to be consistently good on both sides of the ball just by spending money, there's just not enough to go around. This year's Rams spent like crazy this offseason, but you know when it's going to start hurting? When Goff and Gurley, who are Category A players, have to get paid. The Ravens won a superbowl, and you know what caused their downfall? Paying Joe Flacco. If a team is consistently good, like the patriots, it's because when it comes time for those A players to become B players, they have already found new A players to replace the old ones. Yes, Tom Brady helps, but if what we saw with Peyton Manning in Indy a few years back is any indication, you cannot be one of the best with literally no one around you. There has to be some action on the front office to fill those gaps, and some teams simply do it better than others.

In terms of the yankees, as has been mentioned, they actually cut spending this year. For the most part they rode young guys like gleyber torres, aaron judge, and luke voit to success this year. A salary cap would help to curb the Yankees success in the long run, but it would do little to nothing to impede them this year or the next couple of years, it's when those guys need to get paid as well when they start hitting a roadblock.

I think it's really easy to look at the big market teams and go "lolbribing their way to victory yet again" when in some cases it's just not true. Of course, in some cases sure, there's that history with those big names like the yankees and the dodgers that can attract players, or a case like tom brady and the patriots, then those can grant certain situational advantages that other teams don't have, but they do not make up 100% of why that team is successful, this year's yankees being a prime example.

With all this being said, I would still be in favor of a salary cap for baseball.

I mean if you're going on the title alone then I can see it but they establish episode one that they aren't using real weapons. In fact whenever a real weapon makes its way onto the manga it's very much played for drama and is taken extremely seriously. Even the fact that they're just kids is played extremely well, with their instructors trying their very best to give them as much of a normal kid life as they possibly can and showing them how they can use these "skills" in their everyday lives, from day 1.

I read the manga and I really enjoyed it. Especially once you start getting into the reveals about why everything is the way it is, it's super great. For some reason I'm really a fan of media that does that, they start you off on the ground running without really explaining why stuff is in its current state, and then either gradually or through a flashback episode they explain it and you're like OHHHHH.
