Based on the finale of the original series, did the Heart of the Cards fail Yami, does it like Yugi more, or was it a conscious choice by Yami since he knew it was his time to go?

It's spotty because I believe the specific phrase "heart of the cards" is a dub-only thing, but as far back as the Exodia Yami vs Kaiba duel, the theme of winning duels is having hope. You draw the cards you want by having faith. People make a stink about this being a Yami only thing but it's invoked by several characters in the series, like Jaden or Kaito.

Yugi and Yami both had hope, Yugi made the better plays.

It is morally abhorrent to concede this election to the Republicans. You won't just be spurning Biden but you will be strengthening all the down-ballot GOP senators. You think Biden won't expand healthcare fast enough, the GOP will remove your existing healthcare protections, extend privileges that favor those corporations at your expense, continue to erode transgender rights, and basically everything else that you believe is politically wrong. Even if you do get your preferred candidate in 4 years (which is unlikely given the massive comeback Biden achieved literally by just not being Bernie), the odds will be much likelier of a Congress that doesn't let them get anything done, in addition to a judiciary that's ruined for literally the next generations.

The problem really isnt how they spend their money. It's how much they have, and how it's really obtained. The anger with these donations stems from how one person manages to control so much wealth in the first place.

Well for one thing these sums are always an utterly insignificant portion of their net worth, but their PR spins it as being such a generous thing. So people just get annoyed at what amounts to virtue signaling.

Deeper than that though, these people inevitably make their money through wage exploitation. No such thing as a self made billionaire. They're really spending money we earned for them.

It's just one page but I'm behind on the video lectures so my grasp on Realist art is shaky. I recognize the argument can go both ways but it seems to me that Hard Times bucks the trends of Realist literature. I mean sure, someone like Sissy Jupe is a very mundane person to center a story, but so many of these characters are downright fantastical, from the egos and lack of self-awareness from Gradgrind and Boundberry to the whimsical and words-slurring Sleary. Perhaps more importantly, Dickens doesn't use Realist prose at all to my understanding. He's super liberal with his use of figurative language to dress up the characters. From the first page: "The scene was a plain, bare, monotonous vault of a school-room, and the speaker's square forefinger emphasized his observations by underscoring every sentence with a line on the schoolmaster's sleeve.
