| Doe 02/09/18 9:06:27 PM #4 | The Spartans may not necessarily have been good warriors due to their rejection of philosophical education stuff, but they were certainly a warrior culture. There's basically no Spartan art besides like a statue supposedly of Leonidus because of how their lives were. Regardless of the infanticide, kids were taken from their mothers when they were young and they lived in barracks, weren't given enough food to survive (encouraging them to steal and preparing them for marches without sustenance), and trained all the time. Even the women trained because they thought a strong woman would give birth to strong babies. IIRC they say they didn't wear shoes because they hoped to strengthen their feet that way and not need them. I dunno how much 'admiration' of Sparta there is. The sacrifice at Thermopylae is an inspiring event and helps create the Greek idea that they (the Greeks as a whole) were a superior people and culture, but mostly Sparta seems to be referenced because of what daily life was, not because of true military feats. If anything their main feat was oppressing so many enslaved people, there was like 10 oppressed persons to 1 Spartan, and their lives were grueling. But they get a happy ending when Sparta weakens because they go off to form IIRC Megalopolis which was the 'melting pot' before America. From that, yeah Sparta does drop off in power and isn't exactly what it used to be, but its prime was super militaristic --- |

In addition they dumped him once his factory was shut down, dunno if that's standard operating procedure but either way they failed to stop the quick shutdown or find him another job They were invented for a reason and are a good idea on paper and we shouldn't not have them but having to pay a shadowy group of coworkers or whatever that may or may not actually help you when you need it seems to run contrary to American values. May as well make some kind of federal agency that just beats the shit out of corporations if they try to do dumb shit --- |

| Doe 02/09/18 12:11:54 AM #3 | I remember browsing a site called psypoke or something which was a sort of fan site where people had Pokemon info and uploaded news. It was real cool, had a real great aesthetic, maybe slightly awkward to navigate sometimes but you got a feel for it. I invoke it because I spent most of my internet time there as a kid. It had ads on a sidebar and at the top IIRC, but they weren't ugly, weren't obtrusive, and wouldn't do anything or have obnoxious animation to distract your eyes. And so it was fine. The idea that I needed to get these ads out of the way never even crossed my mind because it didn't compromise comfort of navigation. But especially nowadays, that is not the case basically anywhere. If you go to a website without adblock, you are assaulted by autoplay video ads, faux-pop-ups that darken the rest of the site and overlay themselves on top of the content, long banner ads dividing posts on message forums, many of them ugly and jarring or animated or pretending to be something they are not. Not to mention they'll cost you extra data if you're on a limited plan because of how dicked you are by service providers in many regions of the US. If you're on your phone you may be suddenly redirected to a scam page and find your phone endlessly buzzing. GameFAQs is not immune to this and the aforementioned bullshit is why I got Firefox mobile and uBlock. --- |

If you don't like the combat a lot then no matter how much you like the story you literally have to slog through half the game twice with minimal changes. If you like it then great but it's still not perfect, at least on PC it had serious technical issues and there are some pretty poorly designed stuff. Just one example is the default control scheme of the game. The constant DPS attack and the dodge are managed by the same finger so you have to either change it yourself or lose damage output when you're in a big fight and really need it :/ --- |

I think I'd like it more if it wasn't open world. It didn't really add anything to the game for me. I definitely think MGR:R did the slashy slash stuff better But the fake open world was pretty annoying. I found difficulty just going from the carnival area to Pascal's Village because of how wonky the camera was and how restricted movement was in that area. --- |

The game crashed twice on me during the final duel, and I have a decently meaty PC. Don't release a port if it can't run right. --- |
