I know that goes without saying, but the thing is that even though KH 2 was also really cheesy and had excruciatingly cringey cutscenes, a lot of it was tolerable especially as it was only the second console game of the series. Also the gameplay improvements (hell just simply moving camera control to the right analog stick) just made it super fun, even without the drive forms.

I don't know if KH 3 will be as fun gameplay wise, especially if they add literally anything from ddd or the annoying minigames from bbs (which had a bunch of gameplay elements like a cooldown system for magic) or bring back a fan (un)favorite the gummi ship levels.

I just felt like the train for my interest in the series as a whole left a while back and I don't know if it is going to come back again. It has been 11 years since KH2 and I didn't play any of the spin offs at all.

There is also the age factor to consider, for a number of different reasons. I was already pretty old when kh 2 came out and actually disliked that it was basically fanfic self-inserts of my favorite disney movies/storylines with sora and co inserting themselves into said story. That was over a decade ago so I definitely would not be able to tolerate it now.

And yeah it's been so long that any interest died down ages ago.

The main problem I had with BBS and DDD was the insane imbalance between Commands and your standard attack being pretty much useless. It just shows that the team that worked on those games, and is working on KH3, is pretty questionable, as it's not even impossible to make the Command Deck work. Fucking Re:coded on the DS was fire and it had less buttons and was outsourced.

I actually loved hopping and swinging around with Flowmotion and raising the Dream Eaters though so DDD was okay with me.

They waited WAY too long to release KH3.

Why wouldn't they bring Vanitas back? I fully expect him to turn into an anti-hero eventually, not being able to exist without Ven mostly. Possibly as an "alternate personality" of sorts for Ven, but we'll see.

The only questionable thing about his return is making him wear the Org coat over his regular outfit, helmet and all.

It's funny how they managed to make the non-Disney stuff cornier than the Disney stuff. Probably because it was edgy and corny which is such a god awful combination. Though I think this really only applies to the story and some of the character designs. The non-Disney worlds and the heartless are all spectacular.

The combat does look kinda busy. I'm a bit concerned with how much focus was being put on all those flashy attacks.

The only good thing I got from that trailer is that it's almost guaranteed we're not getting Atlantica. (Ariel being a summon and all. And no, don't bring up Genie. He wasn't the focus in KH2, after all)

Closure? They already beat all the villains in kh 2 and got back home and reunited and lived happily ever after. It's only the recent shitty retcons that make it so oh no the villains are actually alive because when you kill them they become more alive or some shit like that

I mean, there was nothing wrong with them ending the saga of xehanort/xemnas/ansem/mansex there and starting with a new villain with that message in a bottle, but oh well whatevs, it is what it is. I just took it as one of those "and so, the gang continued on their adventures together living happily ever after" not as a cliffhangery sort of way. Just a "potential ideas for a sequel" for better or worse (mostly worse)
