There is but we aren't near the limit as they try to make it seem. A huge part of the problem is that our economic system was designed to mainly benefit the small few on top and encourages wastefulness and greed. It also irresponsibly encourages abuse of the land and people. This system was made and is perpetuated by absolute idiots and it's only a matter of time until it collapses, although they will take at least a few generations to happen if a large scale world war doesn't happen first.

Similarly pointing out that Gen 2 Pokemon were trash until the end doesn't matter for difficulty as you can still clown on everything with Gen 1 dudes. Kanto is the late game. Johto is half the length of the other games and even Lance is in the 40's. At the time it is also trivial without grinding to be in the 50's.

Most Gen 2 additions are just trash. Slow, incomplete and some garbage movepools. Even the cool ones are often post game. Gen 2 just sucks in general
