I've seen people in nursing homes do the dumbest shit. They've started CPR with obvious rigor mortis, did CPR with no spineboard on the bed (so basically they're doing nothing cuz there's no resistance from the ground), they have the AED on the wrong place, you name it. The nurse didn't even know what asystole was when I said it outloud after reading it.

Never put your folks in nursing homes unless you WANT them to die >_> It's like 30 people to 1 nurse, and all the staff is overworked and underpaid, and sometimes just straight up incompetent. The only good nursing homes are usually the ones where you gotta pay like $100k a year or something, which no one can afford.

Is this really such a huge issue in the US? When I was in high school 20 years ago (and in Australia) this sort of thing was basically unheard of. If it was a common problem Id like to think Id have known about it sooner.

Go old school: paper, pencil, spiral notebook for note taking.

Focus on what the teacher is teaching and writing notes.

Well, if youve got grown up kids, then a huge amount of time has changed since you made that decision. Anything could happen in that time. What if, for example, a parent suffered an injury that made them disabled? Or worked in a profession which became automated?

Id agree. My current company is doing everything they can to get me to stay. As a contractor I dont get holidays or PTO. But theyve moved my schedule around so I dont have to work holidays coming up, and even found a way to give me unofficial PTO by signing off on hours I dont work lol
