Dallas is this year's St. Louis.. A team that looks like it has no business being in the finals, but here we are.

Tampa will probably be an even bigger favorite to win than Boston was last year.

This reminds me of Islanders/Penguins where every time the Penguins scored, the Islanders would just score back right away.

This has happened several times this series where Tampa scores within a minute or two every time the Islanders do.

The Islanders defense just put on a clinic of how to lose a game at the end.

This game has been pretty crazy... This series has been pretty crazy.

Dallas lost game 7 in this round to eventual champion St. Louis in double overtime. It'd be pretty cruel to happen again...

You see this so much more in hockey than in the other sports. Three game 7s featuring three teams that are drastically superior to their opponents being pushed to the brink just because goaltender is the most important position in any sports.

I feel like Dallas completely killed their momentum by putting Bishop in while up 3-1 though. They were down 1-0 after a similar first period before, a game in which they won, but that game was over well before the first even ended.

I never expected to see the Islanders of all teams outshooting their opponent 42-17 and be headed to overtime in a 4-4 game. Varlamov has never reached a .800 save percentage in this game.

Greiss needs to start game 7 if this goes there, though I cant see Tampa fearing either of these teams.

I suspect Vegas is going to score a couple early and Vancouver is going to be playing a lot of comeback. If they can actually pull it off it'd be interesting~

My first feeling upon seeing the replay was it was offsides, but we get overtime out of it~

Very unimpressed by both the Flyers and by Price in that series. I don't fear the Flyers anymore. They look pretty clearly like the weakest remaining team in the East.

The question going in was if Price could steal the series, and he might have cost Montreal the series instead.

There was a clearly worse boarding hit in Islanders/Capitals that wasn't even reviewed, and just given 2 minutes, and this one gets reviewed and called a major and a game misconduct.

The NHL's review system continues to be inconsistent...

The Lightning did exactly what the Islanders did, assumed the game was over when they were up 2-0 early, and have self destructed since. The parallels are uncanny.

Islanders Dominated most of the first period, then acted like the game was already over entering the second period up 2-0. They completely mailed it in, then couldn't turn it back on when they deservedly got run over for it.

The second and third periods were by far the worst two they've played.

Every team that played in the round Robin has proven itself clearly better than its opponent.. Except Washington.

Islanders know this and are going for the jugular early on with an uncharacteristically strong offensive start.

I didn't end up watching any games today, probably for the best. How the hell did the Hurricanes lose that one. Poor Kuemper. Poor Bluejackets.

Fuck the Bruins, damn it.

The Hurricanes took almost 19 minutes to record one shot in the third, which also happened to score a goal. Halak did not have a good game.

Reimer made a misplay that gave up an empty net goal around the middle of the third period to make it 2-1, and all hell broke loose for the Hurricanes after. Boston played one of the most Dominant periods of the entire postseason. They made the Hurricanes look completely incompetent at hockey in the third.

The Hurricanes were the best looking team after round 1 after dismantling the Rangers. Boston really is just that good when they're in full game.

I feel the team that might match up best with them is the Islanders because of their ability to slow down a game, but that didn't look like a team anyone in the East is beating if it plays at that level.

The Blue Jackets are done, the Coyotes are done, and the Hurricanes look done as well.

That first Bruins goal was awful and seems to have just completely killed them. They still don't have a shot in the third 13 minutes in. As soon as I saw that goal I thought they were going to lose this game.

What we've learned in this round is the Flyers took the round Robin seriously and aren't close to as good as they looked, whereas the Bruins didn't care at all and quickly became one of the best teams again once they did.

Well Crawford absolutely stole that one.

I'll take "not getting swept" because it is beyond clear that Vegas is the better team in this series.

Same for Colorado, who had one stolen yesterday.

I did not think Vegas was going to score. Locked in Crawford is a monster. He's just well past being able to do it consistently.

Kuemper was barely on my radar before this postseason but he's been impressive on a team that was clearly outclassed by Nashville and is even more outclassed here.

Apparently management knew this was a possibility and he has a newborn at home. So either he's telling the truth and I'm not going to hold anything against him cause you gotta do what you have to protect your family. Or he's lying and doing this to spite the Bruins which fits into my "fuck the Bruins" mindset. Either way, this hurts the Bruins chances of winning this year so I don't really care what the truth is!

It comes off as doing it to spite the NHL to me, and using the newborn/the virus as an excuse because he decided he's bored of playing.

The timing of the opt out was the closest he could get to game time before opting out. It feels calculated.

Though I imagine something like, maybe if they make the conference finals, he bubbles back into quarantine and he's back for the Cup Finals if they get there. Though if they're able to win 2 series with Halak they probably keep rolling with him anyways... but ideally they win 0 series!

He made it very clear he has no respect for the games being played after game 2. He would have to do a total 180 on his stance to even want to return.

Someone on the Atlanta Braves did opt back in after the season had already started, but the issue with doing it in the NHL is you'd immediately have to go into quarantine. If opting back in were possibly, and I do not know if it is, you'd still have at a quarantine of at least several days upon returning. It could easily be enough days to miss a series.

That's a dumb reaction.

He opted out less than two hours before the game with no warning after getting attacked for his whininess game 2. Had he opted out at a more reasonable time (not less than two hours before a game), I would feel less harsh. He feels like a child who basically said "Screw you guys, I'm going home." after the reaction to his game 2 comments, except he waited until leaving would have more impact.

I cannot remember the last time a hockey player actually made me mad, but I will probably never stop holding this against him, and I can't see myself ever wanting to see him win anything again.

Well the Coyotes made it more competitive today at least, same result though... still gotta root for them.

It was a 3-2 game late with the Islanders pounding the Capitals in their own zone and not letting them out, getting a fluky triple deflection goal in the process, then adding an empty netter. It was not the game the score indicates it was.

After 4 goals in a bit over 4 minutes in the second, there wasn't any scoring until the very end.

The Blues played much better late in game 2. I think they're going to take at least two, and they just barely missed a game winner in OT.

The last half of the third period is why the Islanders are so terrifying to trail in the third period.

Washington spent over 3 consecutive minutes stuck almost entirely in their own zone just being harassed endlessly. Once the Islanders locked down, the Capitals had almost no offensive presence for the rest of the game.

The major issue Bruins/Hurricanes had was the quality of the ice being brutalized by the 5 overtimes I believe. They probably wouldn't have been able to start until past 11pm at best.

Calgary as a franchise has lost 10 consecutive game 2s. It seems we are on the way to 11.
