"These look great," you say. "I'll come back in a bit, give you time to think over your main dishes," Lilah says. "Thank you," Raven says. "Oh, you hadn't thought what you wanted?" you ask Raven. "Well, I was trying to decide between some," she says. "Which two?" you ask. "Didn't we just talk about not rushing through things?" she says. "Right, sorry. It's alright, Lilah, you can come back when she's decided." Lilah nods and heads off to her other tables. "So which two?" you ask Raven again. "Rorek," she scolds. "Let me take my time with it, the appetizers just got here." "Sorry." You eat a mozzarella stick while Raven looks at her menu. The breading and the soft cheese inside go great together. You see the dipping sauce on the plate and dip the other end in it. You bite that and taste the tangy tomato sauce with the cheese and breading, it's very enjoyable. Raven reaches for a plate without looking, touches the sauce-covered chicken and you can see the confusion on her face as she looks at what she touched. She then sees the sauce on her fingers and licks it off. She wipes her hand off on a napkin, then goes back to the chicken and takes a bite. "Ooo, spicy," she says. You grab a chicken wing of your own, take a bite and enjoy the spice for yourself. You chomp down on the saucy chicken quickly to eat all of it at once, and you put the bone aside on a spare plate. You wash away the spiciness with your smoothie, and you enjoy the cool, thick and sweet fruit taste. Raven washes the spice down with her lemonade, but it doesn't seem enough. "I think that's why the celery is here," you say as you take one for yourself. You scoop the blue cheese with it and munch it all down, and your mouth cools off. Raven does the same, and you see the look of relief on her face. You glance out the window as you munch on another mozzarella stick. You see a rear parking lot, and then a side street on the other side of the sidewalk. Cars pass by slowly in the dimming light of the setting sun, the headlights and rear lights strangely comforting to you. "You really like being on the road, don't you?" she says. "I suppose I do," you say. "I really must have inherited my ancestors' love of traveling the world. Perhaps they didn't feel quite themselves unless they were on the road to somewhere." You sip your smoothie as you look outside again. "I can't believe we're getting existential over mozzarella sticks and hot wings," Raven chuckles. You share in the light laughter as you dip your mozzarella stick in the sauce. "So, when we take the trip to London in a couple weeks," Raven says, "how are we going to do that? Give out another 30 million to Ferris Air?" "Maybe," you shrug. "Mostly depends on if I get any response about it from my parents. But chances are, we can easily do that, the distance from here to London is well within an A380's range." "Going one way, though," Raven says. You have Shadowfax stand and walk inside with Raven. "Welcome to Red Lobster," the hostess says. "How many for your party?" "Just the two of us," you say. "Right this way then," the hostess smiles. She takes two menus and leads the way. You and Raven follow her to a table by the window near the back. You two sit across from each other and each take a menu. "I'm Lilah, by the way," she says. "Let's start off with drinks, hm?" "Yes," you say as you flip to the drink pages. "I'll have... Ooo, fruit smoothies. Yes, I'll have a strawberry smoothie." "I'll have classic lemonade," Raven says. "For appetizers," you say as you turn pages again. "Oh, yes, chicken wings, that sounds good. And Mozzarella cheesesticks." "Okay," Lilah says as she finishes writing that down. "I'll bring those out as they're available." Lilah heads to the kitchen, you and Raven sit quietly and look at the menus. "This is so weird," Raven suddenly says with a bit of a chuckle. "What? Is there something wrong with your menu?" "No, I mean, the fact that in one day we've decided to go to Hawaii, drove all the way out here and then rented a plane for $30 million, like it was nothing. It's so different from my everyday life." "But don't you and the Titans make sudden decisions all the time?" "Well, for plans of action, not for vacations. Do you always make such quick decisions?" "Not always," you say. "But this seemed as easy as anything to decide. And neither of us is held to a schedule, so why would we wait?" "I don't know," she shrugs. "What if the others wanted to do something and we ran off before they could tell everyone? Or maybe something will come up while we're away." "Unless it's something that is life-threatening or world-ending, I don't think they'd worry about us slipping away for alone time." "Well, I'm just not the impulsive type," she says. "I usually leave that for Beast Boy or Starfire." "I see. I will make sure to give you fair warning or time to evaluate the next time an idea like this comes along." "Thank you," she smiles softly. "I'll round it up to $30 million," you say as you write the check. "Are you sure?" both Raven and Ms. Ferris say as you tear out the check. "Yes, it'll be fine," you say as you hold it out to Ms. Ferris. She takes the check and looks at it. "Alright," Ms. Ferris says. "A moment please." She walks over into a small office inside the hangar and grabs a clipboard with papers on it. She brings that back to you. "Just sign here and here, to verify the rental and that you take responsibility for the state of the plane's interior after you return." "Alright," you say as you sign. "How many days are you planning on staying in Hawaii?" "Three full days," you say. "Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. "When did you want to leave?" "Tomorrow morning," you say. "Perhaps about 8 AM. We're staying in town so we should be on time." "See you tomorrow at 8 AM sharp." "See you then," you say as you hand her the paperwork. You walk back to Shadowfax with Raven. "Are you sure your family will be okay with you spending 30 million on a plane?!" she whispers. "It'll be fine," you say. "I hardly spend all that much on my trips, spending this much now won't concern them." "I think you have that backwards," she mutters. You two ride back the way you came, you slow and stop for the guard to open the gate again. You nod and wave before passing through. "Thank you," you say before pulling through the gateway. You turn right and drive past parking spaces and the flight control center to arrive at Hangar 2. The doors are open, so you pull in, and see a group of people standing around a small table discussing something. Specifically, the woman is instructing the men on something pertaining to the papers on the table. They notice you and stop their conversation, the woman makes her way over to you as you pull to a stop. "Good afternoon," she says. "Mr. Rorek, I presume." "I am," you say as you and Raven dismount; you manually put up Shadowfax's stand this time. "And I presume you're Ms. Ferris." "I am," she says as you two shake hands. "You want to fly to Hawaii but be able to bring your bike." "Yes, I do," you say. "As I told your security guard, my family has money to pay for a flight." "I know of your family's company, Mr. Null," she says, "and I'm honestly surprised you don't have any aircraft for this kind of travel." "Yes, I'm starting to think we should look into that," you say. "Perhaps this can be an opportunity for both of us." "Well, I'll tell you right now, Mr. Null," she says, "the selection is sparce. Walk this way." She leads you and Raven over to the rows of planes parked in the back. "As you can see, we have plenty of cargo planes," she says. "But those aren't exactly comfortable, and I imagine you two aren't going to Hawaii for business but pleasure." "Indeed we are," you say. "Well, the only alternative would be the few Airbus brand models," she says. "We only have the A318, which is a passenger plane we rent out to large groups for corporate getaways, or to sports teams and staff. Obviously this wouldn't be necessary for just the two of you, but I don't think you'd want to spend the money it takes to rent an A380." She shows you the much, much bigger plane across from the A318. "This is a similarly customized model to the one Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal bought for about $300 million. It doesn't have exactly everything he has, but it does come with the private suites, the stateroom for entertaining guests, the board room, the 'wellbeing' room, the garage for vehicles such as your motorcycle, and the elevator lift near the cockpit that allows you to access all floors, and reach the exit or enter upon landing." You find a turn off the main street and weave your way through side streets until you see a Motel 6 sign up ahead. You make your way to it, and find it on the corner. You pull in and stop at the booth that serves as the front desk. "Hello," you say to the bearded man behind the counter. "Do you have two rooms available?" "Sorry, we've only got one," he says. "It does have two beds, though." "That's good enough," you say. "Wait! Rorek!" Raven says. "It'll be fine," you say. "It'll just be one night." She frowns, you take out your wallet. "One room is $56," the man says. You bring out exact change in paper bills. You hand them to the man, he gives you the key to Room 13. You pull forward into the parking lot at the center of it all, and see the space for Room 13. You pull in and realize Room 13 is upstairs. You shut off the engine and have Shadowfax stand. You carry the knapsack and follow behind Raven as you make your way to the stairs off to the side. You walk up and she opens the door to the two-bed room with a bit of a musty smell. Room 13 might not be used that often. You open windows to let air in as you close the door and set the knapsack down. You pull out the trunks of luggage and hand Raven hers, she takes it and sets it on the bed closest to the small bathroom at the back of the room. "Now we can go find the airfield and charter a jet," you say. With motel key in your pocket, you and Raven head back out, locking up behind you. You return to Shadowfax, pull out and drive. "Excuse me, sir," you ask the bearded man at the front desk. "Do you know the way to Ferris Air?" "Oh yeah, head up North on the main street here, until you get to Haven Street, turn left onto Auburn, then turn right when you reach Bay View to go North again. You should see Ferris Air's runways before reaching the main entrance." "Thank you," you say. You pull out and follow his directions. Haven Street is quite a ways from the motel, but as you turn onto Auburn, traffic ligthens up and you make good time to Bay View. You go North again, another smooth ride as there are few people driving on this road. "He was right," you say. "There's the airstrip." You point out the stretch of concrete on the other side of the chain link fence. You keep riding, and Bay View eventually ends and gives way to Pinnacle Lane. You follow that around a bend and up to the front of Ferris Air. As you do, a security guard holds up a hand and you slow to a stop. "What business do you have here?" he asks you. "I was hoping to charter a jet to Hawaii," you say. "One that can bring a motorcycle." "And who exactly are you?" "I'm Rorek Null the Seventh, and this is Raven of the Teen Titans. ... If this is an issue of money, my family has plenty." "One second," the guard says. He goes to his security booth and dials a phone. "Yeah, these two here are hoping to reserve a plane that can carry a motorcycle. ... To Hawaii. ... He said his name was Null. I'm not sure, I'll ask." The holds the phone to his shoudler as he pokes his head out of the boot. "Are you Null, as in Null Co?" he asks. "Yes," you say. You show him identification. "He has official identification," he says into the phone. "... Yes, ma'am." He goes back into the booth, hangs up, and then presses a button. You retrace the route you took a couple weeks ago for that trip to the waterpark, and it takes about four hours, same as that trip. You arrive in Coast City at about 5:30 PM, so the town is busy with commute traffic. I'll gladly make things for everyone else, too." "Sweet!" Beast Boy says. "I studied up on fry cook lingo. I'll have a Jack Tommy on Brown Down with heavy Axel Grease and Frog Sticks in the Alley, painted red." "Very good, Beast Boy," you say. "Grilled Cheese and tomato on wheat bread toast, french fries on the side with lots of ketchup, coming up." You get things going, frying pan greased up and a potato peeling while you fill a deep fryer with oil. "What would you like, Robin? Raven?" you ask them as you put the bread in the toaster. "Um..." Robin says. "Well you've already got potatoes out, so maybe a baked potato? Butter and sour cream." "One Steaming Idaho, with axel grease and topped white," you say. "I hadn't really thought about it," she says. "Well, like Robin said, the potatoes are already here. I'll make you a side of french fries to go with a burger. What would you like on it?" "Um, lettuce and tomatoes. No onions or cheese." "Burn one, hold the tears and the cow," you say as you take out the ground beef and burger buns. You chop potatoes into fries and put them in the fryer while you butter up another and wrap it in foil before sticking it in the oven. You make a patty out of ground beef and set it on the grill as the toaster pops. You butter up the wheat bread toast before putting cheese on and a tomato slice in between before grilling the whole thing. For yourself, you prepare yourself a hamburger patty but prepare it animal style, slathering mustard all over it before putting it on the grill. Beast Boy's Jack Tommy finishes first, you plate that and then pull out the fries. "Careful now," you tell the others at it bubbles and sizzles. They lean back as you set the basket down on a paper towel to let the bubbling settle. In that time, you get out the ketchup and the other things for the burgers. You flip the patties and peel apart the lettuce. You put mustard and ketchup on the buns, set the patties on, put on lettuce and tomatoes then top bun. The fries have stopped bubbling so divide them equally for you, Raven and Beast Boy. You open the oven and pull out Robin's baked potato. You put it on a plate and use magic to peel the foil open. You cut the potato open into quarters and put another pad of butter in the middle. It melts and soaks into the potato as you take a spoonful of sour cream and set that into the middle as well. You take out a spoon and some glasses before serving everyone. "Lunch is served," you say as you pour cola into the glasses. You four eat up, everyone enjoying their dishes. "Where have Starfire and Cyborg gone?" you ask. "Starfire took Silkie out to the park to get some fresh air," Beast Boy says. "I think Cyborg is working on T-Sub this time," Robin says. "We haven't used it in awhile so he's making sure it's still running smoothly." "Well, be sure to let them know where Raven and I are headed," you say. "We'll be sure to bring back souvenirs." You and Raven finish your meals and you go back to your rooms to grab your luggage. "Tomorrow? Will we even be able to get a jet that soon?" "You can be surprised what money can do," you say. "Now, the flight to Hawaii from here would be about five hours, but the timezone difference is three hours, so if we leave here at 8 AM, we'd arrive in Honolulu at about 1 PM Pacific time, but it'd only be 10 AM Hawaii time. That means we can take it rather easy in the morning, no need to rush through anything." You change your internet search to find private jets in the area willing to go to Hawaii. "There is one locally," you say. "But they don't have anything for transporting vehicles. We might have to go back to Coast City. That's fine, actually, we'd need to use them for our trip home to London so we might as well get to know that airfield now." "Wouldn't going to Coast City mean we leave for Hawaii later?" she says. "Yes, it would," you say. "Oh, we could leave for Coast City today, arrive in the evening, stay overnight and leave for Hawaii in the morning." "But when would we have time to pack?" she counters. "Right now, obviously," you say. "Come." You lead the way out of Ops, Raven follows. You two go to your rooms and you easily repack everything into your luggage. You then head over to Raven's room and see her pulling out luggage from her closet. "Don't look while I load underwear," she says. You turn around and hear her pull drawers open. She moves items from the drawer to her luggage and then closes the drawer. "You can look now," she says. You turn back around and she opens drawers for her shirts and pants. "If we're going to Hawaii, I guess I don't need anything long," she says. "Yes, summer time wardrobe. Short sleeve, light weight, and the like." Raven puts her tank tops and short sleeve shirts into her luggage, then various shorts, from denim to cotton and other materials. "Okay, let's slow down," she says. "We need a place to stay at Hawaii, are you sure we can get hotel rooms so quickly?" "Rooms?" "Yes, rooms. One for you and one for me." "Oh. Right." "Rorek, did you expect us to get the same room?" "No," you say. "But, it's not like we haven't before." "Well, yeah," she says. "But, we're supposed to be taking things slower, right? Plus, we stayed in the one motel room more because we had to." "Fair points," you say. "But we'll still get connected rooms." You go back to Ops and look up hotels in Hawaii. "Perfect," you say. "The Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach. Two connected rooms, reserved for three days and four nights." You use your credit card for this one, not just because you're reserving online but because it's several hundreds of American dollars. "We'll arrive tomorrow and check in during the afternoon or evening," you say. "Then we'll have all of Wednesday, Thursday and Friday to enjoy the beaches and the paranormal destinations." "Are there any computers we could use?" you say. "My phone may be magic but it can't use google." "The TV doubles as one," Raven says. She uses a remote control to switch the television into "computer mode", and a keyboard appears in front of it. You and Raven walk up to it and she opens the web browser. You start typing and search "brazil paranormal". "Okay, see, look," you say before reading the wikipedia. "The Joelma Building in São Paulo is allegedly haunted by victims of the fire that started on February 1st, 1974, after an air conditioning unit on the twelfth floor overheated... the 'Mystery of the Thirteen Souls'." "Whoa..." Beast Boy says. "That sounds nice, right?" you ask Raven. "Nice isn't really the word I'd use," Beast Boy says. "Yeah," Raven says. "Compared to the places I listed, that's like going to Sea World instead of Disney World." "Hey I like SeaWorld," Beast Boy says, upset. "But given the choice, wouldn't you go to Disney World instead?" she asks him. "Well, yeah... but still-" "Point is, that's not really a major destination," she says. You go back to looking. "Ooo, Barbados," you say. "Nice beaches there, and it has the Chase Vault. Chase Vault is a burial vault in the cemetery of the Christ Church Parish Church in Oistins, Christ Church, Barbados best known for a widespread but unverified legend of 'mysterious moving coffins'." "That's like, SeaWorld San Antonio," Raven says. "Well, France has nice beaches," you say. "Aren't French beaches also... nude beaches?" she asks with a sideways glare. "Well, they have normal ones," you say feebly. You scroll around. "Oh, Hawaii has plenty of them!" you say. "Bishop Museum, Waimea Falls, Nu'uanu Pali Lookout, all sorts of places. That's like having SeaWorld, Six Flags and... some other second-string amusement park, all together." "Alright," Raven says. "Hawaii it is. When do we leave?" "I mean, you're a fan of James Bond, and I hear it made an appearance in one of the more recent movies, but have you been there in person?" "Actually-" "No, wait!" she says. "Were you in France? Did you see the catacombs there? Or the Brocellande Forest? How about Edinburgh Castle in Scotland? Or the Hell Fire Club in Ireland? Wait you've been to Italy, how about Poveglia Island?" She quietly but excitedly looks at you for an answer. "I was thinking things more in the way of Hawaii, the Carribean, or Rio de Janeiro," you say. Raven's excited expression slowly turns to one of disappointment. "You just want to see me in skimpier outfits," she says. "What? No!" "But what else would I wear there? They're hot and tropical with beaches all over, you just want to see skin." "Well, there's more to our getaway than spooky haunted places." "I like spooky haunted places," she says. Raven is likely to hunt you downYou send that and put your phone away again, then have another cookie. The kettle whistles as the water boils, you turn off the heat and fill the cups. The black tea swirls in the cups, you and Raven take in the smokey scent as you put the kettle down. You and Raven blow and puff, cooling the tea. You then sip and enjoy the whiskey taste as it washes down the vanilla filling. "So, we've got a couple weeks left before we leave for London," you say. You look at your phone and open the text. An image attachment opens automatically. "Oh bloody hell," you blurt out upon seeing it. Jinx and Argent, close together, lots of skin, tongues out in a very lewd manner, hands grabbing all over as they look into the camera. It takes you a long time to notice the caption for it. We got bored, hope you like <3"What is it?" Raven asks. "Let me see." "No!" you say quickly as you press your phone against you to block the screen. "You won't like what you see." "Well, now I want to see it more," she says. "Did that little tramp send you something sleazy?" You stare into her eyes quietly, seeing the anger building. You gulp out of anxiety and nerves, that's almost a dead giveaway. She lunges at you, reaching for your phone, you spin and evade. She keeps reaching, you bob and weave to avoid her hands. "Let me see!" Raven says. "No!" you say. "Let me see!" she repeats. "No!" "Bind!" she says with both hands. You're caught in the clamp again, but that means your phone is safe inside- No, wait, Raven is using her magic to pry your arm away from your chest! "No!" you say as you resist. "Ow, Raven, stop, you'll break my arm!" "It's okay, I know healing magic now," she says. "That's not an excuse!" "Then show me what's on the phone!" You keep resisting the pull on your arm, but you can't risk injuring your arm. "Fine," you concede. "Take the phone..." You stop resisting, sticking your arm out in front of her. She takes the phone from your hand and looks at it, seeing the risque picture. Raven's eyes go wide but her mouth is pursed in a strange scowl. "Jinx is SO lucky she's in Canada or I would rip her apart!" Raven shouts at the picture in your phone. "Delete this! How do you delete things on your phone?" "Well let me out of this and I can." Raven releases you, you take your phone back and select the picture message. You won't be able to fool Raven, and you really shouldn't be keeping this kind of thing around. You select "Delete" and then "Yes" to confirm. DELETED"There, it's gone," you say as you show her the screen.
